We weren’t in the April batch, but we had a similar situation in January.
I highly recommend emailing the consulate. My husband’s visa was held up due to an error that was made at the consulate. He was approved at the time of the interview as well, but status remained “refused.” It wasn’t until his email was addressed that his file was corrected. His visa was issued immediately afterwards.
Good luck!
My husband and I went through this as well. Can’t believe they still make such ridiculous “human errors” in this process.

Two weeks later my status is still Refused. I heard refused just means administrative processing if they don't ask for any additional documents but now I'm getting worried. Any insight would help.
You can contact them and ask. My husband and I didn’t know what was happening with his case either and it was at refused for about 2 months. Of course this was all caused due to mistake they made which we had to email/fight before my husband’s visa was issued. It is likely that your case is in admin processing, additional checks, etc. Stay hopeful and email them to get an update!

HI everyone I have a question hopefully someone can shed some light on. I had my interview on the 9th of April and everything went great they kept my passport and i got a welcome letter and was told id get my passport in 2-3 weeks. The thing is that my status is still "ready" for interview and hasn't changed. Is that normal? I was under the impression that after your interview your case goes into administrative processing.
That’s normal! They are likely just finishing up some things on their end. It also hasn’t been that long after your interview, so no need to worry. You should see Issued - admin processing note next!

Got an apology letter from the consulate this morning for issuing the wrong visa class (Cr-1 instead of IR-1). They were able to update my digital vis package so the CBP agents should be able to issue the correct class! Crossing on Friday, fingers crossed.
Wow! Glad you got an apology out of them. That’s RARE. So happy for you that this journey/battle is finally over for you. Best wishes to you!

For the issued/final processing status, is that what it says after you attend your interview?
Yes, please check the FAQ for the CEAC status changes you will see post-interview!

Hey all,
Just a question for those who have recently had their interview and received their passport back to a residence in Ontario.
What are processing speeds like? How long did it take for puralator to return your passport from Montreal.
Just trying to plan travel, (interveiw is next Wednesday) if all goes well.
ThanksMy husband lived in Ontario as well. He was in Issued - final processing on CEAC on a Thursday. He received his tracking number via email on Friday and passport was in hand by Purolator on Monday - so it was all fairly quick once you see that status update on CEAC! As always, don't make any confirmed travel plans until passport/visa is in hand! Good luck!

Hi VJ Fam! Quick update for you guys. My husband has received both his SSN and GC and we have now officially (and successfully) completed our VisaJourney. We've continued to face some very unique challenges this entire process (all updated on my timeline) and are so happy to finally be done. ❤️
Timeline:
POE: March 11, 2021
SSN Received: March 18, 2021
GC Received: March 25, 2021
USCIS did a great job of updating us on the GC production/tracking. For those of you still waiting, the status changes will look like this:
1. Fees Received/Paid
2. Card is Being Produced
3. Card Was Mailed to Me
4. Card Was Picked Up By The United States Postal Service (this is where they also provide you with the USPS tracking)
Good luck to everyone else still on this journey and feel free to DM me if you ever have any Qs! Cheers!

Interviewed: March 17 2021
PP Received: March 23 2021
I got 2 Annotation on the stamp: "IV DOCS IN CCD" and "212(g)(2)(B)"
I did some search about it and found that : if “IV Docs in CCD” is annotated in your immigrant visa, it means that your visa is a digitalized visa and you will only receive your passport from us" I think this is ok and I have no further action.
About: 212(g)(2)(B), I found that is related to Vaccination but just wanted to make sure.Did anyone else had this Annotation ? Any specifics I have to do before I cross the border ?
It doesn’t have anything to do with vaccinations (we initially had that confusion too). Husband’s passport said the same and no issues/questions were asked. I think the entire thing just means the package was sent electronically!

Hi! Does anyone have an idea on how long until the GC is mailed once the status changes to "Card is being Produced"? I didn't see this mentioned anywhere in our FAQ, so figured I'd pose the question here! Thank you!
Update: just checked my status and it said it was mailed! All set!

I get wanting to be together to celebrate an anniversary, but marriage should be a lifelong commitment. Many, many anniversaries to come and nothing says you can't celebrate a month after the actual date. It's an even bigger, better reason to celebrate that you're finally DONE...for at least a decade! No more being separated and no more headaches of just trying to reach that friggin finish line. A deep breath and sigh of relief when you are handed back that passport with the visa stamp activating your new life.
I FEEL THIS 1000%
I literally cried my eyes out when my husband received his passport/visa and then again when he actually arrived. Only took 3 years for us, but the feeling of being DONE is simply out of this world!

Hey everyone,
So here’s the dilemma I’m having. My interview is April 21st and my second wedding anniversary is June 2nd. If everything goes smooth at my interview and I get approved I should get my passport back around end of April early May. I really don’t want to spend an extra 4-5 weeks separated from my wife but at the same time I’ve heard that removal of conditions is a huge headache with the 2 year greencard where if I wait 4-5 weeks I’ll get a 10 year greencard. Anybody who has any info on the difficulty or stress of filing for ROC on a 2 year greencard, or anybody who has any opinion on whether I should cross or wait it out please feel free to let me know what you’d do in my situation!
I would definitely wait it out!!!

Oh, that’s slightly concerning. I did think it was weird that it’s telling me to book an interview.
Nope. Don't worry about it. READY is just an internal note they have (the words in the box are irrelevant). My husband's status went from Refused --> Ready --> Issued (AP) --> Issued (Final)
-
For folks already in the US, how long did it take to receive your GC (specifically service center - Texas)? I’ve heard they are sending them out quite fast! It also took me awhile to figure out how to track the GC status, but I finally got it! I entered my immigrant visa fee payment receipt number and that worked! Status still says “fees paid”.
Also, called SSN and they said husband’s card was issued and we should receive it in next few days. 🙏🏼

Hi Folks,
Is it possible to upload new i-864 (with updated work and address) after Interview Letter to CEAC or it's too late? I remember reading on this page that it's always good to upload new documents to CEAC before the interview but I when I asked my lawyer to do so he said that now the case is with the consulate and we need to update the consulate not NVC (because NVC is done with the case at this point). Is this true? I am a bit confused.
Thank you!
You can upload your new documents directly to CEAC and hit "Submit Documents". Many folks on here, including myself, have done this pre-interview. Montreal has access to CEAC and can see your documents/files directly on there. They actually like when people are prepared and submit documents directly in the CEAC portal for them to review. Even if you do upload it to CEAC, I would still bring it to your interview.

Yes I was told I'd be going into AP at the interview for two reasons (waiting for medical and need to look into a border crossing issue), what just shook me today is that it says it was updated today, but it was still refused. Although this could be also because they maybe took care of one of those two issues, but not the other. I'm a nervous wreck about this.. Ugh.
It’s not officially refused. You have the AP note underneath it. Your case is still in AP. Ours went to an actual refusal without the AP note underneath. They later sent us a letter explaining the refusal (which was erroneous). After a long chain of emails back and forth, they fixed their mistake and issued my husband his visa. Don’t worry! They just have you in admin processing. The date changing is a good thing, means someone is looking at your case. My husband’s case wasn’t even touched for 2 months post-interview. Stay positive! DM me if you need more info!

UPDATE! MY HUSBAND IS OFFICIALLY HERE AS A LAWFUL PERMANENT RESIDENT! We are SO relieved and HAPPY to finally see this day. This process has been a complete emotional roller coaster for us since Day 1.
Post-interview Timeline:
Interview: Dec 14, 2020
Passport Return: March 8th, 2021
POE: March 11th, 2021
Husband traveled from YYZ airport and said customs was super easy. They asked him a few questions, mainly just confirming address and checked items. Hopefully, his SSN and GC arrive soon!
Good luck to everyone else still in this process. If we can get to the finish line in this immigration journey, so can you (and trust me when I say our case had all the twists and turns imaginable). Stay hopeful! Cheers! ❤️

Hi! Has anyone activated their immigrant visa by flying out of YYZ (Toronto Pearson)? How was the process? Were you pulled into secondary? Feel free to DM me to share! Thank you fam.

Hi VJ family! I'm back to (finally) share some positive news. After many emails explaining why the Consulate made an incorrect decision on refusing my husband his immigrant visa, they finally fixed their mistake and ISSUED the visa. We just received the tracking number today. It's been such an emotional roller coaster for us these past 3 years and even more so in the past 3 months alone since our interview in December. I'm proud of us for staying strong and fighting our case to the Consulate and never giving up! We're so grateful that the end is now here. @Hawk Riders - time to change our place in the tracker to be highlighted in GREEN (approved). I hated seeing that highlighted in RED these past couple of months.
Thank you all for your support and guidance throughout our journey. WE DID IT! ❤️

That’s crazy! How did you find out that it was a different person? Did the consulate email you?
Yes. The Consulate emailed with an explanation stating the deportation note. My husband has never been deported and is definitely not this person. I’m SO infuriated. We’re lawyering up.

This sounds like something to confirm with the consulate, especially in light of the error reported by @Travelingpharm...
best wishes on this
Thank you everyone. This was a denial and it is definitely a mistake. They apparently have found someone, that has the same name and DOB as my husband, who was deported from the USA in 2017 for 5 years. They think this person is my husband. It is NOT my husband! I can’t believe they made this error! My husband and I got married in the USA in 2018, he has traveled to USA without any issues multiple times, and even has a NEXUS card issued since 2018. I literally can’t believe they made this big of a mistake. How can they defame my husband like that? We are getting a lawyer and taking action to hold them accountable ASAP. If anyone has any other recommendations, send them my way. This is absolutely ridiculous!!!!

Hi VJ fam. I’m writing with a really heavy heart today after crying my eyes out all morning. We checked my husband’s CEAC status today and it still shows status as “Refused”, but the message underneath is different. His case was touched today. It reads that "A U.S. consular officer has adjudicated and refused your visa application. Please see the letter you received at the interview".
We never received a letter at his interview (just the 221g for medical results which were long received by Consulate back in December). I feel like this is an outright rejection now (unless anyone has seen this message before and knows otherwise). I’m feeling completely defeated. We are simple people and never had any issues/request for additional info this entire process. Don’t really know what to do or expect anymore.

3. What are the experiences with AP?
I can speak to this a bit. My husband is still in AP. He had his interview back in December. It’s absolutely brutal not knowing for what reason and why he was placed in AP. He wasn’t told he would be at his interview and they only needed his medical results. Seems like they have another check that goes in place after the interview that placed him in AP. Our case finally got touched after more than 30+ days so I’m taking that as a positive sign. Hoping to be out of it soon. If we don’t hear from them in the total 60 day period, my plan is to email my Senator, get an expert lawyer involved and scope out our options. Our case is a simple one, yet being held at such scrutiny without any explanation as to why.

Hey guys. Sounding like a broken record at this point, but we’re still waiting on my husband to be issued his visa. I don’t really understand why it’s taken us this long. The Consulate hasn’t asked him for any additional documents since his interview on Dec 14. They haven’t even touched his case for 30 days now on CEAC. They still have his passport. Should I be worried? I keep thinking it’ll be okay and to just wait this out, but the anxiety has really started to kick in again. I totally want to just give up now.

From what I have seen, it can take anywhere between 2 months to a year for AP and its pretty much a black hole. I have seen some fair number of people getting approved who were Canadian PR and Indian citizen. Hope you guys get a response soon!
Yes! I’ve researched this topic quite a bit. Most people are told they are being placed in the long AP. My husband wasn’t told that and they kept his passport. He also wasn’t asked for any additional docs or to complete the DS 5535 form. I do feel that his situation is a bit different and hopefully we won’t be stuck in this for much longer. All we can do is wait and pray for the best. 🙏🏽
Canadian citizenship process while in the US (split)
in Canada
Posted
Hi VJ Fam! It's been awhile since I've posted, but had a question that's been on my mind and figured this might be the best group to bring this in front of! My husband has his GC and has been living with me in the US since March. He had applied for his Canadian Citizenship back in 2019 and the process is now finally moving along. He did complete his online citizenship interview outside Canada, but has to complete an interview/oath in Canada. I did hear that intent to live in Canada is no longer a requirement to gain Canadian citizenship. Has anyone here gone through this similar process or know if any issues can come up while getting his Canadian citizenship? Hubby worked hard to get his Canadian PR and apply for Canadian citizenship - I'd definitely want him to still get his citizenship even though he has a GC now. Thanks for the help! ❤️
