  1. @Wuozopo thank you for taking your time to reply. We are getting married as soon as we can but that still leaves me without insurance for a few weeks (which may be fine for some, but I know that personally I’ll just worry).

Are insurance options such as patriots, atlas etc the best way to go for my situation? Do they count as travel insurance or are am eligible for these? I’m worried that I need to put my ‘residence address’ as my old UK address which I technically no longer live at (I could put my

parents address) as I will have moved in with my fiancé in the US.

Thank you again for your reply and all help

Keep your UK  coverage for as long as you can until you are covered by his employer's plan. Purchase a travel insurance policy that provides an emergency evacuation to the UK.  Yes you will have to start the process over again if you have to leave, but that the risk is low since your window of exposure is just 2 weeks.

    Hi Mike,

Thank you for your response. I was under the impression that travel insurance is void if it is for immigration purposes. Have I misunderstood?

If I just need to purchase travel insurance for the USA from the UK then that is nice and easy!!! Thank you.

  3. Hello everyone,

I’m (FINALLY) moving to the states on the 20th of this month. Due to family circumstances we cannot get married straight away and I cannot be added to his employers healthcare (military) until we are married.

I have anxiety so I know I will overthink it/worry if I have no health insurance in place  (the joys of anxiety). Also with everything going on with COVID I’d rather just get it so I can fully relax and enjoy this time with my fiancé.

Therefore, can anyone recommend any health insurance providers that will cover me for 1/2 months. (I’m from the UK so health insurance very much confuses me lol).

Thank you very much in advance!!!!

i don’t know anything about military documents, however I know London is not very strict on K1 affidavits of support. They don’t require any one specific type of proof as long as you show enough income. If the 2020 tax return shows enough, you can use that. Or any one of the things you have mentioned sound fine as well.  (Well I don’t actually know what LES is) They don’t require you provide lots of different proofs. They probably won’t even discuss the I-134 if it looks reasonable.

    From the embassy website

K and Diversity visa applicants are not required to provide an I-864 Form.  However, they must show evidence that they are not likely to become public charges while in the United States. There is no set form that this evidence must take but use of the form I-134 is an efficient way to provide this information to the Consular Officer

Thank you Wuozopo!! You can fall into a rabbit hole in forums and want to get every document ‘just in case’! Thank you again.

All I sent to my wife (then fiancé) were my last 3 LES, last 3 tax return transcripts, a document called “statement of military compensation” which I also printed from the portal, not sure if that is the “statement of service” you mentioned. I added it because its basically an highlight of everything I make in the military yearly. Nothing was signed, there were all straight from their various websites.

    Good luck!

Thank you very much for your response I feel we have enough proof, just panicking after waiting so long!

  6. Hey guys,

Our K1 visa is finally ‘in transit’ after 16 months and we are trying to get our documents ready so we can book the medical/interview.

When looking at the documents needed at the interview it states we need a letter from the petitioners employer stating their job, contract type, salary etc. to support the I-134.

We are just wondering what documents you all got. We currently have 3 months LES, statement of service (not signed just from the portal), his contract and most recent W2.

Is there any more you would recommend? And how do we go about getting these?

    Thank you!!!

It's literally only us? Lol. I called them the other day. They told me to enjoy wanting another 55 days until they can submit an inquiry as we are still within "normal processing times".  I explained that they're processing November petitions. This is the most irritating governmental process I've encountered and I've worked for them for over 15 years.

    I’m still waiting too! NOA1 22nd October.

Hi! based on my understanding Oct. 15 is the date USCIS received your petition.  The NOA1 date is the one stated on your NOA1 (basically the receipt notice/ the hardcopy).

ex. our received date is Sept. 26 but our NOA1's stated date is oct. 3 😊

hope this helps if im not wrong.

Thank you, my fiancé has the hard copy so I’ll ask when he wakes up, positive thinking haha! Thank you for your help! Let’s hope things get moving soon lol

Does he have family in the US? My fiancé is currently deployed to Afghanistan and he moved out from his apartment before leaving (he works for the navy, but is a civilian so doesn’t get housing allowance). We called the military hotline and asked what to do about the intended address and they said to put a family member’s address. However, if you are unsure, call them and ask - they picked up right away when we called and were very helpful.

    Hey,

my fiancée called up Friday and asked and the guy on the phone said he can’t help us or tell us what to put. He said we have to fill it all out ourselves?

He has family in New York but he’s in North Dakota, and I’ll be living in ND with him.

Thank you for your help, we’ll call again and hope we get someone more helpful!

    Thanks

  10. Hey!!

Both me and my partner are from the UK but he’s dual nationality and has joined the USAF. We’re filling out the form for the K-1 visa. However, we’re unsure where to put as the ‘Address in the US where your beneficiary intends to live’. My fiancée is currently staying in dorms but is hoping to apply for base housing when married.

My question is where do I put as the intended address? Do we just put the Air Force base or does it have to be specific and precise?

    Thank you for any help!!
