I am in the process of importing a 2015  Nissan Rogue. I have the same issue with the daytime running lights being too bright. I have called CBP a few times asking if I need to have the lights dimmed before importing and I cannot get a definitive answer from them. Did you have your lights dimmed before importing? Thank you.

I did not no, I was told that I would have to get them dimmed in Texas to get my registration and then when I arrived they had no idea what I was talking about. So at the end of the day I didn't have to change anything. The best advice I can give is to call the POE that you plan to use as I have heard of different experiences for different people and they will let you know exactly what they want you to bring and how.

My Interview was Feb 10, and I've still yet to receive an email with a tracking number. It's been 1 week. The status updated on Tuesday to the Issued - "Final Processing...."  I chose the courier option as well.

Not a happy camper right now...

Same boat as far as when we were updated to final processing. Day 3 now of waiting for tracking number. I feel like it's going to be Friday. No particular reason just thats a pattern I've noticed.

What’s everyone’s typical delay for their medical to be sent? Did mine in Montreal on the 9th and still no email that it was sent to the consulate. I’m going to call tomorrow as it’ll be 6 business days. Maybe I’m becoming impatient but all the delays we’ve all been though.

    thanks.

I got my email about 6 days (4 business days) after medical but that was dr. Cheema in Surrey.

Didn't think anyone was exempt from quarantine coming back into Canada. Doesn't seem fair to others returning. We were only at US customs for 30 min. and was told we had a mandatory quarantine.

There are essential exemptions (truck drivers, health care workers, people who need to commute daily to work etc.). It has been this way since they "closed" the border. The border is only restricted to non essential travel and the resulting quarantine's/testing is directed at the non essential people. I have always felt family reunification should be considered essential but that is not in my control. The quarantine exemptions are fairly rare and there aren't many that are not profession based but the custody arrangement is one of them. That exemption is only allowed if you are just doing a round trip to grab your child. The reason I brought that up is some people here (myself included) may be looking at the situation thinking they can't see their kids without spending thousands of dollars and taking weeks off work but there is a legal exemption to being able to ferry your kids across the border without having to quarantine.

I have tried contacting local MPs, reps for Canada Health, Travel, Border Services - no one replies. Nothing.

Purolator pulled that bs with me before. I even included my buzzer code with the address. They're a disaster. :(

Edit: Just spoke with a chat rep and they said the buzz code never got included on the waybill (AGAIN). Yeesh. She's also super unhelpful.

Purolator is the worst. I have been home all day (a home not an apartment) and was given notice of failure to deliver. I don't think I have ever received a package directly from a driver in 16 years.

There are no exemptions for anyone regarding the mandatory quarantine coming back into Canada. We are both in Canada and drove to the US border last week to activate my husbands GC, we were in US customs for all of 30 minutes and crossed right back into Canada afterwards. We are now having to do a mandatory 14 day quarantine just for being on the US side for that short time. They follow you via an app as well. We are getting daily texts to check on us and someone else I know is getting phone calls to check on them.

That is not true. There are exemptions, just none based on family reunification. As an example someone driving across the border to pick up and then leave with their child to satisfy a custody arrangement is considered essential and is exempt from all quarantine rules.

My husbands flight from the US to Canada is cancelled as of this morning! They are cancelling flights till april 30th so wth do I do? Hes stuck here or what?? My due date for our baby is May 1st so I guess he could stay, but he'll he reaching his 6 months in June! I just dont want an issue at the interview about his long stay because it wasn't our fault they're cancelling flights to the US and all right around my due date 😭. We're estimating his interview to be either in April or May so I just feel stuck. Is anyone else's spouse in this situation being stuck in the US right now??

I am seeing flights to different Canadian cities from different American cities all over the place. He might not have a direct flight but they aren't cancelling all flights. You might just need to call an airline and figure out how to get him where he needs to go.

    Hello!
I have a quick question regarding the curfew in Montreal. Those of you who have had your interviews did you run into any trouble because of the imposed curfew? Is there anything that I need to be aware of for my upcoming interview in March?

    Thank you!

I planned my whole trip to avoid being out after curfew. The hotel staff informed me I wasn't even allowed in the lobby after curfew. I did have a discussion with my uber driver on the way to the airport today and he mentioned they are still running and if they are pulled over it is up to the passenger to explain why they are out. Most of the flights operate within the curfew so it should be easy to avoid. Not sure if I would want to attempt to risk it. It ends at 5 am so other than maybe wanting food late (most hotels have room service they operate during curfew) it doesn't really affect you as there isn't really anything to do at the moment.

So when I cross at a POE with my visa, I really don't need any sort of form with all my possessions on it?  I know what the FAQ says, I just want to know what the border folks have said about other people when they move.  The FAQ also says that the border people will be friendly when you're in secondary, and I can't fathom it because I've always found land crossings to be very intimidating and I've done dozens of them 😛

Depends on where you cross. I found the lower mainland crossings to be fairly serious, maybe because they have such a high volume. Every land crossing I have done between Alberta and Montana has been stress free and very quick. As far as the list I will be making one but I doubt they will want it.

Edit: Also side note I contacted my POE and they told me not to pre fill the vehicle import forms as in their words "You will get it wrong and have to fill them out again here." haha

Not to give false hope but from looking at the spreadsheets historical data there has been multiple times where IL were distributed more that one day in a month. Fingers crossed this happens again

That has not happened in months. Mostly multiple days are children being added after their parents etc. The only time that happened consistently was when they were rescheduling cancelled appointments. Pretty much if you see people report that they have an interview near the end of the nect month they are done sending IL's for that month.

Agreed with the above @Emilini ...   Even within Canada they are cancelling / consolidating flights.

My flight from MTL - Sk was cancelled so needed to stay in MTL an extra day... Took 18 hours to get back with 2 layovers, and 3 completely full planes.  They do their best to get you there the same day as your original booking....  But I think its certainly better to be safe than sorry, especially dealing with international flights.

Not to mention that you may have to pay upwards of 2000 dollars when the new quarantine rules start.

I saw this but its a ?. @Hawk Riders what do you think?

The estimate is just based on the last few months numbers. It is in no way guaranteed. Could be shorter, (unlikely) but it could also be a lot longer. You have to make the best decision you can. No one else can or should try and predict the future for you here. Too many variables. But based on our knowledge it is fairly reasonable that you could have an interview in April.

I agree, this should be good enough reason to have everyone’s interview expedited. This has been a mental toll on everyone already, the new restrictions will only add to it.

    *everyone's interview gets expedited*

Sweet everyone let's get in the same line we are already in!

Joking aside an expedite doesn't create new interviews its just a way for priority cases to jump the line for specific reasons. There is a reason Montreal doesn't do them very often. Most people going through this process have a bunch of reasons to get in to the country immediately. Montreal has been doing great last 3 months they have done more interviews than they were doing pre covid based on the numbers. if they can keep it up hopefully the backlog will shrink considerably this year.

And ya the new restrictions are potentially terrible for people like us. At the same time they are supposed to be targeted at non essential travel so let's wait and see if they apply to spouses.

With the new travel restrictions placed on travelling to Canada, does anyone have any ideas on how to expedite their interview? I can’t believe we live in such a time where you can’t travel to see loved ones or to mourn loved ones.

Everyone is in the same boat as you. If you didn't have an obvious reason to expedite when you started this process I don't see how restrictions that affect everyone changes that.

    Hi

How do they confirm your vaccines?

I haven't taken any for at least 20 years (wasn't required to immigrate to Canada) and my last vaccination record dates way back to the early 80ies lol. Do you know what are the requirements? What are the ways of checking what you're immune to?

    Many thanks

I got my history from the my service alberta website and went in and got the vaccines I was missing. If you can't get a copy then you can get your doctor to do a blood titer test to see what you are missing.
