Hey everyone. We are very excited after 12 months waiting for interview our interview was assigned March 10 2020 in the US embassy in Guyana. We were approved!! We received email to pick up our visa 3 days later. March 13 2020 we picked up our visa. And entered USA March 14 2020. It took exactly a year since I started this process back March 2018. Best of wishes for everyone.

Hi—I went through the process in Guyana with my Cuban fiancé. You cannot pay it online. It has to be payed at Scotia Bank. Once you complete the DS-160 and send the confirmation page to the embassy, they will send you a packet of information including how to pay the fee. You will make your appointment directly with the embassy and then will need to arrive in Georgetown a with a few business days before the interview. You do not need to pay before scheduling the interview. You’ll need to be there ahead of time anyway to do the medical exam. We payed ours once we arrived in Georgetown. It was very straightforward.

Just wanted to share an update to commiserate with this group since we’ve been in it together for a while now 😊Like many of you my fiancée and I find ourselves in a tough position with this global pandemic. We interviewed in December in Guyana. He’s Cuban so we had to travel to Guyana to do the interview. He had some changes on his lung xrays that meant he had to do a sputum test and return back to Cuba for a minimum of 8 weeks to await the results of the culture. We got the results, they were normal. He then had to send his passport back to Guyana via DHL, wait for the visa to be issued, the embassy in Guyana issued the visa and sent it back Monday 3/16.

His passport sat in Panama for 8 days when they closed their borders and and then finished the path to Havana. He received it a couple weeks ago, the day after Cuba suspended all commercial flights.

Because he had the issues with his X-ray, his medical is only good for 3 months (rather than 6) and because there are no embassy functions in Cuba, we don’t know what it will mean for an extension. Now I’m trying to stay calm about the pending immigration suspension here and waiting and hoping for flights out of Cuba soon. All of these stops and starts and ”almost made its” are weighing on us, but we’re positive and determined overall.

I know many of you are at a standstill with your loves far away from you too. Sending you all love and wishing you peace and calm in the middle of this storm 💓

livinginlove reacted to Captain Ewok in White House Petition to Add Executive Order Exception for Immediate Family Members and Fiances
The trump Administration is planning to pass an Executive Order in the next 24 hours to suspend immigration to America.  While it's unlikely the President will change their mind on the general policy, we believe they may consider a narrow exception for immediate family members of US Citizens, including fiancés.  We've started a petition a the White House which requires 10,000 signatures to get attention and 100,000 signatures to get a formal response.  Please join us by signing the petition at the following link.  We should have the membership to make a solid run at getting enough signatures!

Thank you. I will reach out to the embassy and see what they say. As of right now, no flights
are leaving Cuba. But I’m hoping that will change soon. I’ll keep you all posted!

First place you need to do is contact the embassy and see what they can do or what they say. I have seen one other case where the visa was about to expire, and they expedited her out of the country. Of course, your country and the US were accommodating flights but limited.

Aww, thanks @Sarge2155! I appreciate your kind words! They mean alot. I'm trying to learn and prepare as much as I can ahead of time so that we won't be in a panic and blindsided. lol We are determined now more than ever! Very appreciative to you and @Greenbaum for your wisdom and experience! Waiting on the ALL CLEAR to book the medical and interview again. We're going ahead and filling out what we can for the AOS paperwork. The I-944 is just so confusing.

you can land as long as flights are departing and he does not transit through countries that are banned from entry. Right  now it includes Mexico, Canada, Schengen,China. The question is if US goes lockdown which can happen any moment, you are out of luck.

Hi there! Just went through this process. Happy to help if I can! They will schedule you for the interview once your case has cleared the NVC. If you haven’t yet, join the forum here for the month you received NOA2 it’s the NOA2-NVC thread. And then read the pdf at the beginning of the thread. It will explain how the process goes from there.

The short version is once your case is sent from NVC to the embassy in Guyana you’ll hear from them requesting that you complete a DS-160 and sign a form. You’ll return that via email and they will schedule an interview shortly after.

As for tickets people have done it differently. Here’s what I did: I booked him 2 separate tickets: a one way to Havana-Guyana and a one way Guyana-Havana. I booked a flex ticket with Caribbean airlines. You can cancel that return ticket later and you will lose $50 on it. But you will have to show a return ticket to Cuba for her to enter Guyana. If you go with her (I would recommend you do) you will also need a return ticket to the US. Then once you have the visa you can book the real ticket back and cancel the return to Havana.

Hope this helps. Feel free to message me if you have other questions.

    Hello everyone -
    I need some clarification.
I am the US sponsor for my Cuban fiancee. We have received the NOA2 and everything is progressing smoothly, so far. I am gathering all the documents needed for the next step and she is doing her part too...but my questions are regarding the interview date and flights.
    1) Interview date - Who schedules this? The US Embassy in Guyana? The sponsor? Is it done when completing the DS-160? It's not clear to me who does this and when it should be done.
    2) Logistics of flights - Let's say we fly to Guyana and the interview goes well and the visa is approved and she can fly to the U.S. Ideally, I would like to fly her straight to the U.S. from Guyana. However, there is the chance that the visa is not approved, of course. Logistically, how can I schedule flights? Buy refundable tickets? Do I buy RT tickets from Cuba/Guyana AND  tickets from Cuba/Guyana/USA?
Thank you in advance for your help!

We had our interview today. We’re technically in administrative processing because my fiancé had to do a sputum test. We’re in a weird situation where he had to travel from his country (Cuba) to another (Guyana) for the interview. So he’ll go back to Cuba, I’ll go back to the US and wait 8 weeks (plus processing) before he gets the visa. But I asked at the end of the interview if we were approved pending the medical results and they said yes 😊 So we’re happy and a little sad and nervous at the same time.

Was approved today at the London embassy . They didn't ask for any tax documents . I 134 and employer letter was enough. My fiance said they only asked "tell me your story " he told her about how we met first time we visited each other the other visits including a 6 week stay he just chatted away and she listened . When he got to the 6 week visit he said he stayed to learn how routine would be with the kids she cut him off and asked if I had been married previously if he has and ages of the kids he answered she said alright your approved . He said they were very very nice
