Our interview is in SJ office on Feb 14 at 715am. We were there by 630am and they let us in at 7am. It’s pretty fast maybe because we’re early. We were called at exactly 715am. We were just asked about our future plans and the Y/N questions in the AOS. Asked for my birth certificate original, bank joint account and rental lease agreement. The interview just took 20mins. The officer said we just have to wait 1-2 weeks. But after 5 days the status changed to New Card is being produced. My green card is expected to arrive tomorrow.

Like others mentioned before, by doing this it takes them OUT of the queue for CR1's, which are processed entirely differently than AOS. A stranger's decision to adjust from a tourist visa is not going to impact your wait time in any meaningful way. So anyone trying to make that argument can stop. They aren't "jumping the line" they are getting in a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ONE. And even possibly getting OUT of your line.

There are plenty of legitimate reasons to change plans and adjust status. You can speculate and pretend that you know that everyone who has done this are just liars and cheats, but you'd be wrong. And frankly, judgmental and UNKIND. A death in the family, a career change, even something just as simple as a deepening relationship.

Anyone who has actually been in the business of family immigration knows it happens and can give you specific examples. Something that I've come across is girlfriends who come on longer visit trips will find themselves pregnant (unplanned, BEFORE anyone tries to push a new spin on the whole "anchor baby" angle). At that point, why would they not make the decision to stay and adjust? With current spousal visa times it's essentially guaranteed they wouldn't be back in the US as a green card holder in time for the birth. Expecting people in cases like that to say no to a perfectly legal way to stay together and start their family for NO other reason than you are bitter that YOU didn't have the same option as them... gross. Like I could never reconcile that with my conscience.

I don't have a certain moral philosophy camp that I'm 100% in, but I've always been partial to utilitarianism/consequentialism. There are a lot of variations to this, but essentially it means I believe that something is moral if it's net good outweighs it's net bad. There are times where this can get a little murky which is why I say I don't commit 100%, but I don't believe this is one of those times.

The good that comes from being able to adjust and keep a growing family together vs splitting them up is a high bar to cross. I surely hope you don't actually believe that your frustration and bitterness about your own completely unaffected process somehow outweighs it.

The only argument that makes a considerable amount of sense it that it makes tourist visas harder to get for those with partners in the US. That's probably true. It's impossible to figure how much harder it makes it, and we have a nice thread as proof that people are still able to visit, ALL THE TIME, so that comes no where near convincing me against AOS.

I just personally find this entire gripe extremely petty. I'll live and die by the perspective that someone else's fortune does not mean my misfortune unless I let it by being bitter. That's especially true in this case for me. And even if it did bother me, it's not my job to be judge, jury, an executioner to someone who's situation I can never fully understand because it's not mine.

I sort of hope this thread can be pinned, so people can air their frustrations here, INSTEAD of in other threads and at specific members who are asking about their perfectly legal rights to adjust. Even if I find it childish, I'd rather it happen in a way that does't scare someone off from their rights.

Answering my own questions after the interview.

    San Jose Office:
Question 1: Officer accepted the scanned form of my birth certificate. Technically a slightly blurry print as it was a photo that one of my friend's took with their phone and sent it over.
Question 2: I smoothly said that my wife was pregnant and that it made her more nervous. I also answered the officer's questions if we had any children. I said "No, but we'll be having one soon."

Questions the officer asked. Total interview was 10~15 minutes. Officer approved us right on the spot, but we realized after we left that she never mentioned any process for ROC, but that really didn't matter for us as we were happy enough.
    How did you meet?
How many times did you meet?
    What is your current address?
What visa did you enter the United States with?
What is your social security number? (Officer asked as she noticed that the beneficiary had one)
To Sponsor: Do you have a birth or naturalization certificate?
Did you ever use any other names beside your current name?
    Do you have children?
Do you have any extra documents of proof of relationship not included in the file that you want to hand over?

We did our interview yesterday. The interview was maybe 10-15 minutes. Asked to see our rings, new photos, K1 Visa, AP/EAD card and joint bank accounts. He also asked if she has health insurance. We provided him copies of proof of insurance, proof that she is my beneficiary on my 401k and tax returns (he didn’t ask for any of that though). He asked me if I knew her parents names and occupations and how we met. All they asked her was the yes and no questions on the AOS form, such as drug trafficking and terrorism. Also said wow you speak English lol

Our case has changed to case under review. I guess we will just have to wait some more while they decide if we get approved or not.

I had my interview today at 10:15
They called us twice, first time for fingerprints and picture
After 35 min of waiting, they finally called our number for interview.
The officer started asking me( the beneficiary) first
    where did you meet ?
When? how many times did you meet ?
when was your husband born ? where ? where exactly ?
what s his job ? what company is working for ?
was your husband married before ? how many kids does he have ? when do they visit you ? what are their names ? their ages ?
does your husband have siblings ? where do they live ? what are their names ?
How many bedrooms and bathrooms in your house ? what s the exterior color of your house ?
what s your current address ?
did you visit the US before ? on what visa ? what did you study ? where ?
and then he asked me for pictures and if we have any other proofs of relationship ( I printed about 50 pictures and he looked at every picture )

and then he started asking my husband
when was she born ? where ?
how many siblings she has ? their names and age ?
where did i go for school ? what s my major ?
what was my parents name ?

and then he started asking me the yes or no questions about criminal stuff.
He gave us a paper where it says that the  green card is granted and he explained the ROC process.
The interview took about 30 minutes.
I am so happy that I am taking a break from this process.

my status changed today around 4pm to New card is being produced .  anyone had an idea when I could receive it ?

    Interview at philadelphia office.
We were 5 minutes late for interview(Tip- keep plenty of leeway for parking and driving and long security line).
check in at front desk, Finger print on first floor than wait at door 2 second floor. We were called in as soon as we sat down. Officer was really good. Chitchat mostly. Ask about our kid while walking down aisle to interview room.
question- Verify entire I 130 with husband( bios yes no questions)and I 485 bios with me and yes no questions
    hows wedding ceremony?
    wedding date?
    where we met?
    honeymoon where, how many days?
any proof of relationships? (He was more interested in pictures than document, he kept all documents and pictures.)
future plans? With work and life together? We told them about our upcoming promotions and buying house in a year or two.
    approved on the spot.
case updated after one hour- new card being produced and next day approved?
    waiting for card in mail.

good luck to everyone. Just be honest, if you get few dates wrong they understand.

We had our AOS interview today in New Orleans. The interview was pleasant. They provided my wife an interpreter via phone conference. They asked her general questions verifying the answers in the application. They did ask if she has ever collected assistance from a government agency. They asked me, the petitioner, how we met. I explained how we met, my visits, and when we decided to get engaged. The only documents they asked for was my 2018 w2 and my 2018 Fed Tax Return. I know they already had it, I have seen other on here being asked for it. I think they just want to see if you followed the instructions on the notice. The last thing she asked was if there was anything else I wanted to provide to her. I provide her with the proof of relationship evidence we had brought. Pictures, utility bills, bank statements and our health plan. She told us that she saw no problems and we should be approved. If she needed more we would be notified. At 2:00pm our status went to in review. After 5:00pm status changed to card ordered. Good luck !

Received my green card yesterday, seventh day after the interview and sixth day after it was approved. Had received approval notice barely within three days after the status changed to “approved” on USCIS tracker.

(Regardless of what majority says about USCIS, I am pretty impressed with their efficiency.)

I did sign up for Informed Delivery. It didn't show up in informed delivery until the day it arrived. It was expected to arrive on Monday, but arrived early on Saturday. Although I believe the USCIS website did show a tracking number once the status changed to Card was mailed to me

    Perfect timing for us.
    Thank you USCIS
P.S. I complained to my wife, why we couldn't see the appointment date online and had to wait for snail mail.  She responded, because they want to make sure we live here.😁

Had interview in Sacramento field office today  It was a pretty smooth process. We arrived about 30 minutes before our scheduled, after checkin, we had to wait about an hour for getting called in office for interview. Interview lasted for about 30 minutes.
We were given oath and she started with going through I-130 application. First confirmed SSN of petitioners and went through the complete form,  then asked questions about where met and when did we got engaged/married. Then asked full name of spouse and birth date and address.

Then she proceeded with I-485 application. First confirmed beneficiaries SSN and then asked full name, dob, address and long list of yes/no questions on I-485, answered No to all of them.
Then she asked if we would like to submit any additional proof of marriage, Provided with joint bank accounts , photos, utility bills, affidavit from family and friends, she kept it all.
Then she told us if time permits she will review our file today and everything looks good so far, so expect green card in mail within 5 weeks.
And then walked us out of her office.
By the time we came out of office I already got texts about interview being done and review is needed. Within 30 min. after that I got another update saying "Card is being Produced".

Overall it was very smooth process, except an hour of wait.

Thanks to VJ community for all the information/experiences, It was very helpful throughout the process.

My interview was done on 1/29/20. It went on for quite a while longer than we expected - roughly 35 minutes - as the officer showed a great interest in learning about us -  our relationship, our infant child and our jobs etc. She was wonderful and thoroughly professional person. We didn't get approved on the spot, and we were a bit dejected, thinking that we might get an RFE or something. Spent an entire day nervously, as the status that evening changed to "interview completed, and the case must be reviewed." Fortunately, 24 hours later, the status changed to "approved' for both I-485 and I-130. The entire process - from submission of the application to the approval - took a total 4 months and 14 days. Waiting now for the [2-year conditional] green card to arrive.

My best wishes to each of you waiting for the process to end successfully.
