  1. My status changed to 'Fingerprints taken' on Friday (10/4) and to 'New card is being produced' today. Does this mean my ROC got approved? I didn't apply for citizenship, and didn't get an interview invitation. I did reach out to my congressman in mid-August and got this response but maybe it helped: U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) records confirm that your constituent’s case is pending at the Texas Service Center (TSC). There is currently a 31 Months processing time for Form I-751 cases that are received at TSC. Your constituent’s case was received at this center on February 27, 2023. Please note that estimated processing times are processing goals and not a guarantee that applications will be processed within the estimated timeframe.

  2. Hello all,

I am supposed to get on a flight from Germany to the US (Lufthansa) in less than 12 hours and just realized that I brought my extension letter but left my greencard at home. Is there any chance they will let me board the flight? The extension letter is dated March 2023 and is for 48 months. I do have pictures of my greencard but I left the actual card at home. What can I do at this point?

  3. I have taken two trips since my Greencard expired at the end of May, and I am happy to report that there were no issues at departing airport or immigration in US (SIN-LAX on SQ and FRA-IAH on LH). It annoys me that the online check in doesn't work anymore since they ask for expiration date, but moving forward I might just use the expiration date plus 48 months to circumvent the issue ;)

  4. I reached out to my local HR team last week (big international company with 90k+ employees worldwide, HQ in Europe) to let them know that I have received the extension letter. Today, they said they went on the USCIS website and checked, and that they do not need the letter. No re-verification needed according to them. I told my HR rep that it would make me feel a lot better if they could add a copy to my file. HR rep said they would check again and circle back. For literally every job I applied for, there was a question in the process regarding whether or not I am legally authorized to work in the US. If an auditor comes in, what evidence would my employer still have that I am actually authorized to work here if they did not add the letter to my file?! I am just trying to not get fired ;)  What is everyone else's experience with that?

Recently came back from a trip to Europe.

On the way back, departure was uneventful, as United airline agent was nice and knowledgable. Arrival at SFO wasn't as smooth as in September 2022. The GE kiosks asked to scan docs this time. This was a rollback from purely facial recognition I've experienced in September 2022. The system didn't like the expired GC so had to see the CBP briefly and show extension letter.

GE procedures are so random... I usually fly into IAH and sometimes I need to talk to someone, other times I just print the GE receipt and hand it to someone and I am good to go. Arrived at JFK yesterday and printed GE receipt was enough. My GC expires in May 2023 but GE doesn't expire before Dec 2026. I just double checked and was surprised that GE is not dependent on GC. Hope they won't change that lol

  6. I dropped of my box at UPS this morning!!! I feel a little relieved that it's finally on the way to Phoenix. Estimated delivery is on Thu (2/23). I used UPS ground shipping because I was not willing to spend more money on air to get it there 1-2 days earlier, and USPS offices are closed today ;) I am really hoping that my fingerprints can be reused because the potential appointment date might be during my trip to Germany next month. I am using that unexpired Greencard while I still can...

  7. Thank you all for your input. I will ship my package on Feb 21 (Tue) since Feb 20 is President's Day, and USPS offices will be closed. Cannot wait to get in line :D

I decided not to file a N400 since I do not want to give up my German citizenship. I'd have to file for retention permit of my German citizenship with the German government, and I don't think my chances are high. It is a lot of paperwork and needs to be timed very well. I think I will rather renew my greencard after 10 years (who knows where I will be by then) instead of going through the citizenship processes on both German and US side.

It's the tenth of the month and I am still the only soul that filed or will file in February? Have a great weekend everyone!

One quick thing - I would definitely not submit your package any earlier than February 20 (there are some reports of packages with postmarks before the earliest file date being rejected). Remember its 90 days, not 3 months, and with February and April being short months, 89 days before May 20 is actually February 20 (see here).

On the plus side, you should definitely be receiving the 48 month extension letter!

I used the N-400 filing date calculator to find out the exact date (it’s same 90 days window for N-400 as well). Here is the link -

Also, I agree with RearviewMirror said. It’s better to wait until Feb 20.

  10. Hello February Crew -

I couldn't find a thread for February filers yet, so I created one. I got the reminder letter from USCIS today. My Greencard expires on 5/20. The filing date calculator on the USCIS website is not working for me but I plan on mailing my package on 2/18 (Saturday). At this moment, I am just collecting evidence and printing a lot of documents. I am happy to share the content of my package once I am done. So far, our process has been really smooth (K1 all the way through AOS without any RFE), so fingers crossed that does not change.

    Here's to waiting.... Again 🍷

So my interview was on 5/20 and I got approved later that day. Since then, my status has not changed and it is still "Case was approved". I received the notice of action in the mail on 5/24. The notice says that I was approved but that I may be required to report for biometrics processing again. Did anybody have the same issue?

Never mind! Card was in the mail today :)

  12. Had our interview in Houston today. It was lame and disappointing. We were interviewed together, and the only question regarding our relationship was 'how did you meet?'. Immigration officer asked if I am working, and made sure the information on my application was still up to date. That's it! No proof of our relationship or any other documents needed. She said my medical expired and I need a new one, but I asked her to double check (medical was from Sept 2019) and she then figured out it was still good. I was not approved on the spot because she wanted to do another security check. I asked for the I 551 stamp but didn't get it :( A few hours later, status changed to 'Case was approved' :)

  13. Two days ago, my case changed to "Interview was scheduled". Today, we came back from a mini vacation in Mexico, and the immigration officer asked if we still live on [new street]. We moved to a new house a few months ago, and I requested an address change, and seems like the interview invitation will be sent to the new address :) BTW: I got escorted at immigration in Houston today. They checked my AOS status, asked where I am arriving from today, how long I stayed, who I traveled with, etc. Very nice officer, and after 5 minutes they let me go.

  14. Hey everyone!

Hope y'all had a great start into 2021. Congrats to the ones who have their interviews schedules or already completed.

I am a Houston filer and the processing time here is 15-29 months, so I need to practice my patience. But I am seeing that Oct 2019 filers are getting their interviews scheduled so there is some hope! In the meantime, I have sent renewal applications for EAD and AP on 2020-12-15 because mine expires in April. I just received two texts with case numbers, and looked up them up on the USCIS website:

On December 28, 2020, we received your Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, Receipt Number IOExxx, and mailed you a receipt notice or acceptance notice. It is being processed at our National Benefits Center location. The notice describes how we will process your case.

I am confused because the number doesn't start with MSC. Does anybody have any additional information on that?

Also, when I used my AP in October 2020, I got a stamp in my passport saying "Paroled until 10/25/2021". Does this mean I don't need a new AP before 10/2021 and that I can leave and re-enter the country even if they don't issue me another combo card?
