  1. Our EAD status updated on Monday to card is being produced.  Late yesterday it changed to Case was approved - same for the AP!  We did expedite the EAD but were flat out denied without them asking for any evidence.  The day we received the denial, we visited our Congressmen's office and they sent a letter and our evidence on our behalf to expedite.  That was a month ago and no response.  The congress office did keep in touch that they had not heard anything either so we just resolved that we were denied.  Then BAM, we get a text notification on Monday.  Not sure exactly what happened, but we are thankful and praising God for the answered prayers!  Good luck to everyone and don't give up!

I don't know about you, but not everyone has the financial means to be able to travel and go explore :(

I'd love to go and do things on my own, but my husband is our only source of income, we live in Seattle and it's very, very expensive. (We're paying 1.5k$ a month for a studio) I didn't choose to be in such an expensive area, and honestly I wanna move out to another state because this is very stressful and I can't even work yet.

Even though most of us do have hobbies, I think it comes down to the routine of having a job, a social life because of said job, and being out and about because you feel like you're actually doing something and contributing to society.

We can only do so much volunteering, and spending time on our hobbies before it gets old real fast... Especially when you've been used to being completely independent financially for so long and have to rely solely on someone else to get by.

I'm not being mean by any means, but everyone experiences things differently! Everyone has their own struggles and there's more than one way to deal with it than one blanket solution :)

My husband would 100% agree with your statements.  He has always worked and provided for himself, and for a long time for me and our son.  Being down to one income... he's at his wits end and just wants to contribute to society!  He was taking our son for long walks but it is too hot in Texas right now to have the baby out.

I will say that our house is always clean and dinner is cooked when I get home from work - which I appreciate so much!  I may be sad when he is able to work 😂  Spoiled rotten!

  3. Best of luck to you all who are applying and interviewing for jobs!  My husband was going through the same thing and was so discouraged, but once the interview requests started coming it, they kept coming in!  Keep your heads up and press on, the perfect job is waiting for you and will turn up at just the right time!

Update 2 on our EAD expedite request - just went to our local congressman's office and sat with the constituent representative while she wrote and sent a letter on our behalf.  Also reached out to the Ombudsman and State Senator requesting letters on our behalf to expedite EAD.  We're going to keep working all angles d*mn it!

Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for EAD expedite requests to be denied outright because the initial request was deemed to either not meet the requirements or to not be serious enough. The email you got is a default denial given in response to expedites and is not specific to your case (or even EADs).

What reasons did you give when making the initial phone call requesting an expedite? Do you have a job offer letter?

We said severe financial hardship - and he does an offer letter on company letterhead with a required start date.

Update: My husband called and spoke to a Tier 2 Supervisor (after 30 minutes on hold and another hour wait for them to call back... but they did call and were very nice).  The supervisor indicated that there was little information on his request so they flat out denied it.  He explained our financial hardship to the supervisor and mentioned that he does have a job offer, offer letter and invoices/information on our financial situation (evidence!!).  So the Supervisor said he was going to put our request back in the funnel??  And we should hear back on or before September 10.

Praying for a good outcome, we really need my husband to start working!

    I will keep you posted.

  5. Confused and upset!!  This is what USCIS sent us this morning.  Nowhere on the email does it say where or how we send our proof!!  Did anyone else get a reply like this???

The status of this service request is:

Due to the high volume of expedite requests for this case type, we are strictly enforcing the criteria that has been set for these expedite requests. While your  situation appears serious, you have not provided evidence of an extreme emergent need.

Hello!  it took 6 days for me to get the email asking for proof of the urgency to get the EAD, after I sent the docs, it took maybe 5 more days to be approved, in total, I called on 07/03 and they requested the documents to support my request on 07/09, and my card was being produced on 07/27, I got it in the mail on 08/03 ... it took almost a month because I took a week gathering my medical records and my job offer letter.

Crossing my fingers that your case is approved soon!

Thanks for the info!!  and the well wishes!

Same story here. Called them, no info about the case in their database, the Contact Center is useless in such situations. I strongly recommend sending an email to lockbox support just in case. They haven’t got back to me yet, but at least I tried.

By law they have 30 days to send you NOA

Was your check cashed/money cashed from your credit card?

Check not cashed yet!  Today is 3 weeks since it was delivered/signed for.  Sorry to hear you are in the same boat!

We have World Market, which I LOVE for home decor stuff and would use, at a push, for food...but the British food there is all 4-6 times the price it is here...

I’m leaving a full wardrobe of clothes at my mum’s house when I move, and plan to come back to visit every year...so I totally plan to bring an empty suitcase and return with it stuffed with must-have food 😆...and then I can just use World Market for emergencies. To be honest, it’s my fiancé that’s going to be the issue...he appears to have a life-dependency on Branston pickle, and if he doesn’t have it on every sandwich he consumes, I fear he may wither and die. I only introduced him to it a year ago...what a mistake that was 😂😂😂.

I'm cracking up!  I am the same with Galaxy... we try to keep several large bars in the house at all times!

Yes the import food is so expensive, damn the taxes!

I’m going out next in August with Branston pickle, HP sauce and Bird’s custard powder...I’ll definitely list them this time 😆

Do you have a Central Market where you are going to live?  We found lots of goodies from "back home" for my fiancé there

World Market is a good spot too!

We've yet to find the kind of cheese he likes or Rowies (butteries)!!  His mom brings those over when she comes to visit.

They are moving fast these days. He has the visa one week from interview and had two potential holdups...medical not arrived  and a Monday holiday.

Congratulations. Does he POE at IAH? I've done that.

He does!  How was that experience??

Congratulations guys, very happy to see another couple achieve this goal, and Tuesday is POE day woot woot 🎉

My fiancé is coming from Aberdeen.  Where are you in jolly Scotland?

  12. Another update!  This morning CEAC showed that our case was "touched" today.  About an hour later status changed to Ready.  Just now it has changed to Non-Immigrant Application Received.  I know that the status changes back and forth, but it seems they received the medical and matched it with our case already.

Not trying to encourage anyone to move too fast!  It just happened to work out ok for us!  Good luck everyone x

  13. Just an update - when my fiancé went to schedule his interview, there was today,  May 23 or the next opportunity was late June.  We decided to go for today, thinking either we'd be very lucky and the medical would have arrived, or if not, it would hopefully get matched to his file before the late June dates.

He went today and was in and out in an hour.  Much like other reviews, they did not ask for much, though he had plenty prepared.

Anyhow - the interviewer said he was APPROVED!!!! (pending receipt of medical).  He also said he expected it would be no longer than a week for the visa to be issued.  He sounded confident in that, but we shall see.  Our status now says AP.

    I'll keep you all posted!
