Frank227 reacted to Ontarkie in USA compared to Canada Immigration
I do agree with what was said above. Plus Canada has two ways to file. Inside Canada and Outside. Normally outside is much much faster.

Frank227 reacted to Dashinka in USA compared to Canada Immigration
I agree, it is all about supply and demand.

Frank227 reacted to Cyberfx1024 in USA compared to Canada Immigration
Perhaps it is due to influx of people in the system. Canada has less than a tenth of people coming into the country Legally compared to the USA.
Not to mention the people who entered illegally and are now claiming asylum there are literally a drop in the bucket compared to the USA.

Frank227 reacted to debbiedoo in Employment History and Address for I-130
you are over thinking it. you dont have to provide proof of previous employers or residencies. Just give the info they ask for. They do not contact employers to verify.
-
Frank227 reacted to USS_Voyager in Employment History and Address for I-130
No. Follow actual instructions provided by USCIS https://www.uscis.gov/i-130
You only need to list employment for the last 5 years. That is all that's required. For example, from Jan 2015-Aug 2016: McDonald, from Aug 2016 -May 2018: Arby's... Just follow instruction provided on the form and the document from the link above that say "Instructions". Nothing fancy.

Then you put down "Enrolled in University, not employed" or something like that.
You still have to put that down. They fact that they are shut down now is irrelevant. They were open and you worked there.
I don't think you need evidence. For her, she was in school. For you, maybe taxes, W2... Where does it ask for evidence of employment from 5 years ago?
She must live somewhere, even abroad. It must have an address. Unless she's been homeless and living on the streets for the last 5 years?

Frank227 reacted to cbro in What is the best PDF Filler to use?
I tried a couple but Adobe seems the best - the trouble I have is for the fields that cant fit all the contents, like addresses that are too long. I don't know how to adjust the font.
-
Frank227 reacted to debbiedoo in What is the best PDF Filler to use?
i found that many sections would not fill with a pdf filler and some areas did not give enough room.
i filled ours out by hand and used the additional info sections for areas where not enough space was given. Less frustrating that way for me.
Just make sure your handwriting is legible and you use dark ink.

Frank227 reacted to B&C2017 in Addresses for Form I-130
If your beneficiary lives outside the US, you’ll only file I-130. If he/she is already in the US and you file for AOS, you’ll have to file both, I-130 and I-485.
I don’t think that it makes a difference from where you send it process wise, but on the other hand I don’t know their business processes, based on which the service centers are assigned. Important is, that you send it to the correct address.

Frank227 reacted to LilyJ in Photos for I-130 form
There’s no specific requirement, we put the month and year with a small explanation of where and with who (if there were family members in the pic), but it’s up to you what you want to put, if anything at all

Frank227 reacted to geowrian in 10 Year Visa for Iraqi Citizen
Yup, max is 1 year here. No way to get a 10 year tourist visa, in accordance with the DOS reciprocity table:
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Iraq.html

Frank227 reacted to milimelo in 10 Year Visa for Iraqi Citizen
Per visa reciprocity, max b1/2 visa issuance is 12 months for Iraqi citizens. So she wouldn’t be able to get longer duration visa.
All info on travel.state.gov or search visa reciprocity Iraq.

They know the naming traditions in Iraq. Just make them correct by Iraqi standards.

Frank227 reacted to LilyJ in What foreign documents do I need to translate?
Just FYI; You won't need to provide your financial information until later in the process. You won't send your financial information in with the petition, you'll only send that once the petition is approved and goes to the NVC
-
Frank227 reacted to pushbrk in What foreign documents do I need to translate?
Yes, but also carefully study the I-130 instructions. The answer to your question depends on your circumstances, and will be found in those instructions.

Frank227 reacted to USS_Voyager in What foreign documents do I need to translate?
Please start be reading the guides: https://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide1
If you have any specific question after reading, please post.

Frank227 reacted to Going through in Don't understand IR1 Vocabulary
I left the interpreter and preparer sections blank, but some put N/A in those fields. You will still have to include those pages with your application when sending it in though, even if you leave those sections blank, so don't forget that.
USC - United States Citizen
LPR - Legal Permanent Resident
I normally don't suggest lawyers for simple form filing, however you may want to consider having someone look over your application/evidence before you send it in....or at the very least continue to post in this thread should you have any questions on what sort of documentation is required/confusion over what a question is specifically asking you.

Frank227 reacted to millefleur in Don't understand IR1 Vocabulary
USC - US Citizen
LPR - Legal Permanent Resident, a.k.a. GC holder
GC - Green Card
-
Frank227 reacted to Ahmed&Freda in Don't understand IR1 Vocabulary
You can just put N/A in those sections. I would recommend (even if you are not using them as a preparer) having an attorney or an experienced preparer look over your finished product.
-
Frank227 reacted to Going through in Don't understand IR1 Vocabulary
To make it basic:
Petitioner - the USC or LPR
Beneficiary - the foreigner
Interpreter - someone who explained the questions to you in your native language, if you are not fluent in English.
Preparer - someone (normally a lawyer) who filled out the forms for you.
Domicile - the country that you treat as your permanent home, or lives in (taken from the dictionary)
Affidavit - a written letter/statement saying whatever is in the letter is the truth.

Frank227 reacted to pushbrk in HELP! Wrong information on foreign documents
We first have to determine just how big a matter it is or is going to be. Without actual information, that's impossible. Where WERE you born? Just HOW incorrect is "a bit different"?
-
Frank227 reacted to pushbrk in HELP! Wrong information on foreign documents
It depends on the nature and extent of the "mistakes" or "discrepancies". Please elaborate with the details, without disclosing your actual name or details.

Frank227 reacted to pushbrk in HELP! Wrong information on foreign documents
It's a big mess. If you don't clean it up, expect significant problems. A lot of the information you provide in and with the petition is provided in order to verify you are who you say you are and she is who she says she is. Yes, you would have been far wiser to use your current identification documents than ones that are out of date, AND to insist that the Iraqi government workers did their jobs accurately. Hindsight...
