lonesurvivor got a reaction from Roeentan in Married with an ESTA (tourist) visa
We are almost at the end of this process to do this, without lawyers. My case was straight forward, similar to yours, entered with a tourist visa, change of circumstances, etc. It took us about 12 days to get the NOA1,  a month after for biometrics and we just had our interview scheduled for next month.

Downside is, I have been so bored the entire time. But being with your partner is invaluable. Was still worth it to me. Do not think you will have any issues and the links everyone sent you are all you need to file concurrently.

I agree with this and its why again, Im kinda unsure who is supposed to fill it out? I get the affidavit is for the sponsor, and I saw that someone said the instructions mention the USC needs to fill it out. But some of us are still talking as if the immigrant themselves needs to report how much they make.

So again, sorry if this is stupid to some of you (but obviously lots of us are confused), is the USC or the immigrant spouse going to be asked about their assets/income from overseas, which sounds difficult to prove/unfair. Or is it the sponsor, in which that case I agree and i see it just as a safety net for the US government to make sure that they an support the beneficiary.

Had my interview today in Cincinnati, approved on the spot!

He asked me more questions than I expected, but they were all very simple and conversational. Maybe around 30-35 minutes overall. Only asked if I had any more joint documents to give him and saved only one picture. Just flipped through my photo albums, did not look at everything.

So, so so happy hoping to get my card soon!

Never received my ead btw, so my greencard will be here before I got any sort of ead approval

Successful interview at the Washington DC field office last week!

Our officer was stern but friendly. At the beginning we were asked for ID, birth certs and marriage cert.
We then spent a lot of time going through the respective I-130 and I-485 forms my wife and I - section by section. She was effectively asking us the question again and checking off our responses vs the form content. Be sure to know your I485 and I30 contents very well. These questions prompted numerous follow on questions and clarifications.
    We were asked if we wished to provide any additional information relative to the I-130 and I-145 applications and we provided the officer with a printed contents list which we ran through and she requested pretty much all of it;
    Joint 2018 Tax Return
    Join Mortgage Deed
    Joint Bank Statements
    Joint Health Insurance
    Joint Vehicle Lease
    Joint Vehicle Insurance
    Joint Home Insurance
    Joint Rental Agreement
    401k Beneficiary statements
    Paychecks
    Collection of photographs

We used the photographs to help with her request that we describe our relationship from beginning until now; she would jump in and asked pointed questions (I guess to catch us out) such as how many attended our wedding dinner, the cost of the engagement ring, full name of the person who introduced us, when our parents met for the first time - she seemed to scribble this all down in no particular order.

At the end of the process we got the spiel about the  next steps - including that it could take up to 120 days for a response. I got the feeling we weren't going to get on the spot approval so I did ask how she felt about our application. She stated she felt good about but had to do some additional checks. She said we were well prepared and liked our binder of evidence. All in all we were with her for about 40 minutes.

That evening we got an update to the I485 and I130s on the USCIS website stating 'interview was completed and case must be reviewed' which certainly caused us some concern and heartache as we went to bed. Happily by the time we woke up the next morning we had a notification that card was in production! Expecting card to be delivered today which is 7 days after the interview.

We had our interview in Denver this morning and it went better than I could have ever imagined.

The officer seemed very official at first but warmed up to us quickly. He asked us a few questions about how we met, when we started dating, when I moved here etc. Asked to see evidence of our new address (as we only moved here 2 months ago). But no other things from our mountain of paperwork, not even joint benefit statement or photos of anything.

He then asked us a few questions about our AOS application and said he would approves us tonight and the card will be with us in 2 - 4 weeks.

However, I have had flights booked for a long planned family holiday in Spain on Oct 3rd (10 days time eeeeeek) so I asked him if he would stamp my passport so I could go. It was a LONG shot but he approved me then and there and I GOT MY STAMP whaaaaaaoooooo!!

Still can't quite believe I can leave the US (I never got my AP or EAD so I've been here for a long time haha)!!!! But absolutely over the moon.

My advice to anyone who still has their interview to come - be prepared and bring everything because you never know what they are going to ask but don't stress, these officers are just normal people and it's usually a pretty simple interview.

    Good Luck! x

I didn't bring the entire petition and my guy was hardly interested in anything I brought; honestly I feel like he was just humoring us by looking at our trip itineraries and pictures, but I would at least take a copy of the affidavit.

June 2019 filer and our status changed to Ready to be scheduled on September 10th. Now begins the fun wait! I am in Montgomery, AL so I assume that is where the office is, but with the redistribution it could also be Atlanta. Either way, I am settling down and finding new shows to watch cause this might take a while  Good luck everyone.

We are still waiting as well. There are other Russian girls In our area who now have their green card in the mail, and they filed after us.

We also want EAD and AP more than the green card at this point. My wife has been here since February and cannot work, drive or have a bank account. This should be illegal. She is not a prisoner. Russia is better than this #######.

Sounds like it will be fine. My interview is Tuesday and we do not have a lease at the moment either, I think our health insurance, life insurance, cell phone, car insurance and trips taken together etc are strong enough. Yours seems the same (even better). I would not worry

It went well and was very easy; if you're legitimate, can explain yourself well and have all of your documentation I feel like you have nothing to worry about. If I'm honest, the interviewee we had spent as much time with us complaining about the end of Game of Thrones as he did asking us questions before he gave us his verbal approval ("I'm putting in my recommendation for approval".)
He looked at all of my documents and pictures, but didn't take any. He had all of our K-1 and AoS stuff there and I feel like he pretty much had his mind made up before we got there.
