    Current status

Ah yes! Thank you. I saw something online that some put single and my husband said, it doesn’t make sense to do a report of marriage if you are single. 😁

thank you very much. We are heading to SF Thursday to get this thing squared away.

You need to ensure that you do the ROM at the Philippine consulate that covers the area where you got married.

Hi I have one question as I’m currently doing the ROM, on the form it says civil status, do I put my i I’ll status before marriage or my current status?

    Hi everyone!!

So really simple question here... I am getting married next week with my fiance visa (k1) and starting the paperwork for his adjustment of status. Questions here is, since I have dual citizenship and changing your last name is a HUGE hassle for passports and visas I have in my name I really don't want to mess with that. Is the fact that I refuse to change my last name to his legally going to hurt his chances for the AOS process??

No, a lot of people doesn’t take their husbands last name. You will be fine.

    Yeah its true 👍🏻

And I don’t think that each time they schedule an interview that they check and see if the applicant is close to their second year of marriage.  With all the applicants they go thru on a daily basis I don’t think they they have the time to check stuff like that especially since there is no rule regarding scheduling interview so close to someone’s second year of marriage, when it’s time for one applicant to be scheduled interview they just scheduled it.

Yed! MD is SSA Headquarters hence why my local SSA had no clue what I was talking about (but you know I had to try so I could report experience at the "chocolate teapot" here, lol). I'll be only the look out through Informed Delivery! Thanks for the insight 🤩

Heheh see I didn’t know that MD is the head quarters, I tried my local and got lucky that even though the first person I talked to was not able to help me, she directed me to the card center here in Sacramento and that’s how I find out that there is indeed an ssn application for me. Hehe. I wonder if the person you talked to meant that your SSN was issued the 22nd and not mailed on the 22nd, oh well, I guess you’ll know once you get it, it would have the date your ssn was issued. Good luck! It will be there tomorrow, I can feel it hahahah.

    SSN info:

For those of you who applied for your replacement SSN in your married name on the I765 (or your original SSN on there too),

the SSA website states it should arrive within 7 days after receiving your EAD and to call if it doesnt arrive. Well I'm day 8 and was worried so I called.

Called my local SSA as that's where my denied married name application is but they had no record of an "auto" application on the I765.

So I called SSA Headquarters instead. They sent it out on the 22nd.

    So to calculate my timeline....

EAD New Card Being Produced April 9th.

    EAD Card received April 18th.

SSN mailed out April 22nd (and still not here).

She did say it could take up to 10 days from mailing which I find strange.

So if you're worried that it doesnt come try calling SSA 1-800-772-1213.

It will probably get there by tomorrow or Saturday.  When I called March 27, the woman said that my SSN card was issued March 26 and that I should get it in two weeks, it arrived April 1. And I’m guessing it’s all coming from one office or headquarters. My ssn card came from Baltimore, Maryland.

Things feel better today. My team at work did a happy hour and I was debating on not going so I could come home sooner for date night. Matt told me I needed a drink and met me at happy hour. It was really nice to not think "oh, I need to check my phone for updates". Clearly I need happy hour everyday until we get another update 😂

I know not thinking about all of this is hard, but sometimes it’s good to just forget about it for a day or two and enjoy the simple things, like your date night and happy hour.  I’m glad you had a good time. Enjoy your weekend!

Yes I will. I was just calling other Philippine consulate just to double check if I can do ROM and passport renewal at the same time. I tried calling the consulate that covers where I live, which is the San Francisco branch, I called numerous time but the connection to speak to someone is not working.

Yes.  Check with the consulate on their procedure. Make sure to schedule the appt for ROM a couple hours before passport renewal.  ROM must be completed 1st.

Okay! I’ll do just that. I tried calling the San Francisco consulate earlier but surprisingly the connection for information is not working. I even tried calling DC brand and NY but the DC one was already closed at that time and NY is just voicemail. I’m calling other Philippine consulate just to inquire, but no such luck. I’ll try agin Monday since I’m assuming all Philippine consulate will be closed tomorrow and Friday.

Yes.  By renewal do you mean name change?  Either way you can do both on the same day.  ROM first though.

Yes, my passport expires this coming September and since my husband and I plan to go to the consulate first week of May to do ROM, I figure if I can do both the same time so we don’t have to go back and forth.

  11. I have a question regarding ROM, can you file ROM and do renewal of passport together?   I asked because the nearest consulate to us is a good two and a half hours drive, so I. Wondering if I can do both when we go there so we don’t have to go back, back and forth. Thank you in advance.

Sorry hunny, I did not because I deleted my messages as my inbox was full and I stupidly didnt check if I had any unread ones.🤦‍♀️

If you wouldn't mind, could you send the info again please?

No problem. I’ll do it right now.

Okay. Sounds good.  Just like @jakejon mentioned, I would assume I’m getting the combo card even though the status hasn’t changed on the app.

Yes, you’ll be getting the combo card. It’s a work authorization card but at the bottom it would say serves as Advance parole.

I am still salty about this, and will remain salty until our case goes from 'RFIE was received' to 'Interview scheduled'

Heck yeah! I've been wondering about it for a couple of months now and I think it would be a lot of fun! We could share our tales of woe in waiting and how much weight we all gained (except somehow I've lost 20lbs lol?) and laugh at how horrific the process was 😂. @rrobin0609 and I think it'd probably be worth really considering whenever we have a legit house in the future since we're in the midwest, it'd be a relatively balanced travel distance for y'all if we hosted.

Awww that’s sounds like a nice idea. I’m game with that idea. I’ve been thinking about the same thing for weeks now, how it would be nice to meet everyone.

I hereby petition we all do a meeting somewhere when we've all done our oath ceremonies and have beers and foods from our collected countries!

Yes! I was thinking the same thing, have a grand meet up/get together where we can drink, eat and look back at all the waiting and anxiety the USCIS put us thru and finally get to laugh about it. hehe.
