  1. So basically I’m just curious what could happen if I use my advance parole card while I’m waiting for the USCIS to correct my green card.  I’m just curious since trying to make an info pass appointment is ridiculous.  It’s been more than 48 hours and I’m still waiting for a callback.  Called USCIS 2 times already this day.

Call them again, don't wait for them

I did just now and still they said I have to wait for the callback 😒. I don’t understand calling them to make an appointment for an info pass, only for them to tell you, you have to wait for 48 to 72 hours. That’s a long time for them to call you back just to pencil you in , in the meantime I’m running out of days till my travel date arrives.

  3. Does anybody know how long USCIS actually calls back someone to make an I-551 appointment? I got my I-90 receipt number yesterday and called right away to make an appointment and the person I talked to said that I’ll get a callback in 48-72 hours to make an appointment. I have travel plans on Tuesday. I’ve been trying to get the I-551 stamp so I don’t end up rebooking my flight.

Hi my case status changed to "INTERVIEW WAS SCHEDULED" on 10 Oct 2019. It's been 12 days and I still haven't received the interview notice in the mail.  Can anyone please let me know what to do? Any number I can call? My local field office is Oklahoma City. Thank you so much in advance!

You can call the 1800 number of USCIS and ask them about it, they will be able to double check it for you.

I would try that, make an appointment at the local office, bring your travel information and see if they can help.

By the way, what was the mistake?

See I tried calling the USCIS to make an appointment but obviously the woman I talked to won’t help me unless I have those notice regarding my I-90 application.

The mistake is in the date on the “resident since”.  They put 11/09/2018 when I got approved on October 7, 2019. And since it’s a conditional green card the card expiration date is 11/09/2020.

Yes, thank you both. I see some people bringing their entire k1 package, whole AOS package to the GC interview and was just wondering what good would bringing in them in really do? Am bringing in the NOA's for them, but yeah. Have everything else on the checklist they've given me :)

    Thank you again!

Yeah, I sure didn’t bring mine. 😀 good luck!

    Hi,

I have the GC interview coming up this week and have a question about bringing the original 'AOS package'. A lot of the checklist for the GC interview is the same stuff we originall submitted (i.e. birth certificates, marriage certificates, the I-864 Affidavit of Support) but I was wondering:

    • Did people actually print out the AOS "Form I-485" again to bring in to the interview? Including 2 x passport style pictures and the AP (i-131) & EAD (i765) Application forms?

On the NOA for the GC interview it doesn't say we need to bring these forms in again but just wondering if people did this.

Also it says bring in the medical form (I-693), I handed the sealed envelope over at arrival and have a photocopy of the DS3025 which I submitted in the original AOS package. If I bring this I'm assuming it won't give me any problems? It's been less than a year since I got the medical done.

    Thanks

    Alice

Nah you don’t need to bring another I-485 form.  Just bring the original of the birth certificate, and marriage certificate just Incase they want to see it.  Obviously being any other additional proof that you might have, like bills, and such.  And no need for the I-693 as that doesn’t apply to you, but do bring the photocopy of the DS3025 just in case.

  8. Back story: I got my green card in the mail October 11,  2019.  Noticed that it has the wrong “resident since” date.  Looked online to see how I can correct it.  October 12,  2019, mailed form I-90 along with my green card to USCIS Arizona.  It got delivered on the P.O. Box on October 14.  I still don’t have a notice text or email.  My problem is I have an international travel on October 29.

I know I can’t make an appointment to get the I-551 stamp until I get those notification/case number.  Is there any other way for me to get an appointment without the notification ?  The only thing I have to show is a screen shot that my application has been sent to USCIS Arizona, a photocopy of my green card front and back that obviously shows that they made a mistake.

Hi all, this is probably pretty obvious to most of you but after getting screwed up once by not having the correct name on an airline reservation and then having to purchace new tickets I want to make sure I get it right before I get to the airport this time.

My filippina bride has changed her last name to mine as is now on all her documents including green card, marriage certificate, SSC, etc. It has been said on some chat groups that she should get her tickets under her maiden name and pass through the airport as such. Of course her PH passport is still under her maiden name. There is always going to be a conflict one way or the other...…. please advise.

Buy the ticket in whatever name she has on her passport. Bring a marriage certificate to show name change when she hands over her green card.

My husband and I entered the marriage in good faith. We we’re college sweethearts back then and we are both Filipinos by the way, we graduated and he went back here to the US and a year after that he took me here by K1 Visa. When I got here in the US, everything changed. He became a totally different person from when I was in my home country, all the promises and plans were all gone. We had fought a lot of times and we can’t work out on our differences and he clearly doesn’t want to compromise. He is saying that he doesn’t want me anymore because he fell out of love. We are both worried about the interview, should we tell the truth that our marriage is not working out? Will that be a reason for denial? We are planning to hire an immigration attorney. Would an immigration attorney be a help to us? HELP PLEASE.

You have to be truthful all the time especially on your interview.  I know it’s sad to see a relationship fall apart, but please don’t go to your interview and pretend that things are okay between the two of you.  It’s unfair to other couples who jumps thru hoops just to prove to the immigration officer that their marriage is real.

    Shall I file forms I-130 and I-130A together and then I-485 I-131 I-765 I-864 together?

    Shall I file forms I-130 and I-130A together and then I-485 I-131 I-765 I-864 together?

I suggest you file all of it together. That’s what I did. If you have any questions just let me know, I’ll try to help as much as I can.

    Hi,

I came to the U.S. 6 years ago with Esta visa from Hungary and never left. My family was already here with business visa, they applied for their green card this year.

I've got married to my American citizen boyfriend a week ago, so we have our marriage certificate already. What should be the next step for us, how and when to start the immigration process?

    Thanks,

You will need to file forms I-130 andI-130A, I-485, I-131, I-765, I-864, and I-693. The I-693 you can wait till you have a have a date for interview. The rest you file all together.  The forms I-131 and I-765 is free when you file it together with I-485.

When should we file out the I-693 form. Some told us that we don’t file this until after the interview, because it has to be within a year and if the process is longer we will have to redo it.

If you already sent out all you I-485 paperwork then you can wait till you get an interview date before you do your I-693. That’s what I did with mine.

They will likely want to see proof that the i-90 was filed for, in your case...so bring the i-90 receipt to  your infopass appointment.

That’s the tricky part since I just mailed the I-90 back today and it won’t be delivered until Tuesday since it’s a holiday in Monday. I don’t know how long before I get a receipt, I have an international flight that leaves on the 29th of this month.

The city/State where you mailed your AOS application to.

Okay thank you! I went and did all the paper work last night so I can mail my green card back today.  Looking at the processing time for I-90 made me sad, I’m hoping that since it was their mistake that it won’t take months and months for them to replace it.  I have plans to go back to my country for a visit end of this month.  I guess I’ll have to make an appointment for an info pass to see if I can get a 1551 stamp so I can travel.

Actually, going back to your original post....you got the notification of the card being sent yesterday and got the card today? The NOA2 is probably still in the mail (or their mail room even...). I'd give it a little more time for that to come in so you can include it as evidence of the correct 'resident since" date. they can look it up so it's not critical IMO, but no harm waiting a few days and adding it.

Failing that, you can try the new case tracker (https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/) and see if that has the AOS approval date. That one gives a full history of a case, not just the latest status. No guarantees, but it's something.

In the end, it'll get fixed. It's just a hassle to get there.

Yeah I was wrong with my dates, I got the email about the new card being produced October 7, then another update that the card has been mailed October 9 and I got the card today in the mail. Sorry abt that.

  17. 4 minutes ago, geowrian said:

Correct. I believe it is possible to file online in that case as well, although I don't have more info on that or have gone through that myself. In the end, there's no real advantage to using the online one - the paper I-90 is fine.

Yeah I think I’ll have to file the paper one since I’ll have to return my card to them.  Question is, I can point out what the problem is, but I didn’t have any notice of action paper saying I’m approved. All I got was an update email saying a new card is being produced. Will I need an official letter regarding my approval?

Oh, OK.......a 2 year conditional card is appropriate, but the "resident since" date is incorrect.   Better to get that corrected or it will cause issues at the next step (Removal of Conditions).

Yeah the “the resident since” date is incorrect and so is the expiration date.  Can you guide me what steps I need to do to correct it? I know I need to send my card back, which address do I send it back?
