    Hi folks,

I have been silent for a while as I was just waiting for my husband’s interview which is today. You know what?! We are put as AP!!! The first sentence that the CO talked to my husband was “I will not approve your visa today”. I can’t imagine how shocked my husband was when he heard this.

The reason is the CO thinks I have not enough proofs of US domicile. He said this IR-1 is for family reunion but I have already stayed with my husband in his home country for 10 years. The CO needs us to submit more proofs that I will move back to the US.

Here are the proofs of my US domicile that we have submitted in the NVC stage and to the CO:

    1. US driver license with my US residental address

    2. US credit card statement (I have been actively used)

    3. US savings bank statement (I have put money in it regularly)

    4. Active voter registration

    5. Quotation from shipping company for moving

    6. One way flight quotation from travel agent

    7. Job resignation letter of my husband

    8. Tax return 1040 of past 5 years

    9. Tax transcripts of past 3 years

Now we are trying to gather as much proofs as possible. I need you VJ members to help for brainstorming. Here are some proofs I can think of:

    1. Letter from my parents and brother stating we will live with them.

    2. Since we will live in my parents’ house, can we make a lease agreement with my parents?

    3. Add my name on the utility bills of my parents’ house.

    4. Add my name on the car insurance of my dad.

    5. Online register my son to preschool

    6. Buy one way flight ticket for my son and myself

I don’t want to move back without my husband so I hope to find some proofs that I can get ASAP.

    Please help...TIA

Have you submitted your USA naturalisation certificate ? I don't see you mentioning this anywhere.

Hello , I need help please . My husband had his interview on June 4th in mumbia for cr 1 visa. Everything went well the officer approved the visa. However , after the interview, ceac was on administrative Processing for 3 days and my attorney sent NVC an email asking to y the case was on administrative Processing. They didn’t reply. On the 11th it went to ready for interview again . On 13th again it went to ready for interview. Now it hasn’t changed since than. Can anyone share experience and similar situation please please. I am going back to the US today without my husband. I need you all to pray for my family please I have a 3 yr old who needs his father .

Well it's perfectly fine if the status is Administrative processing even after the CO approved your Visa. The status stays as AP for like 2-3 days untill the passport is stamped with your Visa. Once it's stamped the status changes to issued. You receive the email/sms for pickup or get delivered to your address provided. This is the regular process.

But your status showing ready for interview again is very unusual after your Visa getting approved. Probably you will have to check with NVC for this

One more thing, after NVC schedules the appointment, does the appointment become visible in our ustraveldocs account as a scheduled appointment directly or we use this only for scheduling Biometrics appointment.

On another note, have you received your passport. On Average how many days does Mumbai consulate takes to return the passport after VISA interview?

You cannot see the interview date on the usatraveldocs website. It's used only for scheduling biometrics. Also you are asked to choose passport pickup/delivery option while scheduling the biometrics appointment.

On an average the passport is ready to pickup or get delivered in 3-5 business days. My passport was ready to collect on 4th working day after my visa was approved.

Update: I logged back into that website. and the box with the next available appt is gone..

    I wonder what's going on...

The schedule appointment option that you see on this website is for your biometrics appointment (fingerprint appointment) which you have to schedule after you receive your IL and before the interview. The next available appointment option is gone cause you already started filling out details and scheduling the appointment. When you do so you will see the continue option in the top of the list. Also please take care of not logging in to this website multiple times on one single day. It will block your I'd for next 72hrs. This happened to me. My interview was on 13th June and for biometrics I could see the next available date as 28th June. Some others from my country were facing the same problem. So best thing to do is if you don't see next available date which has to before your interview date just wait for few hours and try to login again. They keep opening the earlier dates as some people cancel and reschedule their biometrics appointment. So be patient. @DDP&JDP @ram007 @ram_shan hope this clarifies everything.

Also only people whose expedite request has been accepted will be able to schedule their actual interview on their own

    @apanch

Did they give you an estimate of when and where we can pick up the passports with the visa?

Where did you specify where the passport will be delivered? At the interview?

    Thanks!

When you book an appointment for your biometrics you will be asked to choose whether you want to pick up the passport or you want to get it delivered. Passport pick up location is same as the one for biometrics.

Thank you! this is what they call fingerprinting? you typically do this the day before the interview correct? You also have to set this appointment up as well correct?

Yes they take your fingerprints and photograph. You can schedule this appointment anytime after receiving the IL but before the interview. Not necessarily a day before the interview. Ones you receive your IL it will have instructions to schedule the VAC appointment. You can choose any date which is available and convenient to you .

Thank you @ShreebhagyaK9 and @M@K12. Your wishes helped ! :)

Am happy to report that the Visa got approved, and she should get the passport back in 5 business days time. Everyone here has been super helpful, and it's been encouraging to read reports from ppl on this forum.

Am listing below her experience at the mumbai consulate for other ppl who are scheduled for an interview soon. Overall her interview was very simple, and they did not ask for any documentation / whatsapp chat logs etc (though ofcourse it is advisable to take all supporting documents with us)

    ******************************

You should be there atleast 30 mins before your scheduled time, like I was scheduled at 7.30am, but the queue for 7.30am was formed at 7am!
After that you go through security (no CD, pen drive or phone allowed, DO NOT carry the medical report CD, only carry the sealed envelope given for medical). After security, you will be ushered into a room, where they will take your documents, passport, original birth certificate + 1 copy, original marriage certificate + 1 copy, PCC original, DS 260 ( the one used for your bio-metrics) and 2 photos (US size)
They will check your documents, then give you a token no, after which you are called to the window, where you submit the documents along with originals and passport, there they will ask you for your name, spouse’s name and your phone no, and how long you’ve been married, if you’ve ever traveled to another country or lived outside India. Once that’s through you are made to sit and wait for the interview. People are called for the interview on a random basis and the entire process can take anywhere from 1 to 4 hours
I went in around 7.15am and was out by 11am

    Questions asked
who has filed the case for you?
How long have you been married?
How many times have you met since your marriage?
Was it a love or arranged marriage?
Who arranged it? - I mentioned we got introduced through our parents, who in turn got in contact through a family friend
Details on the family friend? As in how do you know them? Do they live in the same neighborhood etc?
What do you like about your husband? Be specific e.g if you say honest, you are asked for an example
Have you ever been to the US? Which other countries have you been too? Have you stayed anywhere else, other than India?
Where in US does your husband stay? What does he do?

    ******************************

So overall very general questions - and no curve balls. Though I know that some people can get grilled, depending on the interviewer.

Will update our profile shortly as well.

All the best to everyone waiting for the interview !

    Congratulations 🎉

    Hello guys!

My status changed to issued  few minutes back and I couldn't be happier!!

I had my interview on the 16th of May. The interviewer kept my chat records and photo album and told me to wait for a week or two to hear back from them. I'm listing my AP timeline below:

16th May - AP after interview

    17th May - AP

18th May - Letter issued requesting for my passport (My album and documents were sent to Kolkata which was my nearest documents drop off location)

23rd May - Documents reached Kolkata

24th May- I flew to Kolkata and dropped my passport

25th, 26th and 27th May - Weekend and Memorial day so Consulate was closed

    28th and 29th May - AP

    30th May - ISSUED

Thank you for all your support! I am so grateful to be a part of this amazing community.

@Mrsamoah2019 @sj0509 Good Luck with the interview guys! Wish you nothing but the best! 👍🏻

    So happy for you!! Congratulations!!

Well I selected correct category 1 from beginning and reselect multiple Times. However it was not showing me available dates for early June. I’ll try again.

    Hope this time it works.

Hi I am facing the same issue

It shows me latest available date for Mumbai is 21st June. My interview is on 13th June.  Not able to schedule my OFC appointment before 13th June. Were you able to do it ?

  10. What is the best way to upload files for AOS?

    • I will be using the i-864ez
    • W2s (2018, 2017 & 2016) - Merge all the W2s into one PDF and upload them? or upload them separately?
    • Federal Tax Return (the 1040s for 2018, 2017 & 2016) - merge them all into one PDF? or upload them separately?
    • Tax Transcripts (2018, 2017 & 2016) - merge them all into one PDF? or upload them separately?
    • Evidence of income - last three months of paychecks.
    • Proof of US Citizenship

    Civil Documents:

    • Passport Size photo (Beneficiary only?)
    • Birth Certificate (Beneficiary only?)
    • Marriage Certificate
    • Marriage Termination Documents
    • Passport Biographic Page (Beneficiary only?)
    • Police Clearance Certificates

    Anything else?

You need police clearance certificate to present during your spouse interview as well at NVC stage .You can simply request by going to passport office website and can apply for it and yes when you will apply it will ask u the reason why you need it and you can choose immigration purpose from drop down menu.

I understand that I need to get the Police Cleaner Certificate and the drop down menu option of immigration purpose. My question is what documents does the Passport Office in Mumbai requires to show once we go to the office? And how long does it take to get the Certificate? Thanks.
