    Hi Everyone,

First of all, congratulations to all who got Visa approvals and IL and CC in past 13 days.

Good Luck to those who are waiting. Patience is the key.

I was bit busy with my medicals, biometrics and EID celebrations.

Secondly, I had Interview yesterday on 13th @ Mumbai embassy. (CR-1)

AND ALHAMDULILLAH "MY VISA GOT APPROVED" . :)

I want to thank whole VJ community, especially seniors members, experienced members like @nastra30 @nyokie @KJ2 @ShreebhagyaK9 @Sarah Kay @sj0509  and all those who have helped me. Sorry as i couldn't tagged you all.

    So experience was about patience.

    Appointment time was 7.30 am.

I was in Queue at 7.00 am.

Entered and cleared security at 7.15 am.

Got Token no. at 7.30 am,

They checked and arranged documents at 8.10 am.

Passport, DS-260, Birth certificate (+1 copy), Marriage Certificate (+1 copy), PCC - Indian & Australia (+1 copy each). Medical Reports Envelope.

The counter guy asked me about my Language preference for Interview which was English. Then He asked,

    5) Have I ever been to USA ? 6) What other countries I have visited ?

He took all originals and returned all copies.

Then Asked me to wait for Interview call.

    Then patience game begins.

They call for interview randomly.  of course Special need ones and other languages got preference.

I was waiting for 2 hours and last of my batch.

Then FInally at 10.05 am I got called.

She greeted me and fired with questions politely.

    1) Who's calling you ?

    2) Arranged OR Love  marriage ?

    3) Who' arranged it ? How they know you and Her ?

Ohhh. Then She said 'Your Visa is Approved". Alhamdulillah.

She was noting down all my answers in her system.

All these questioning happened in 12 minutes. Nearly, after 1 year and 3 months of applying  I-130 finally this phase is over.

Thank you @nastra30 for the detailed reply, and also @CJO032418 for the direct message.

After I saw your replies, I realized we did check that option for getting the SSN on the form, so hopefully we should get it soon.

For our canada trip, we'll be driving into Canada, so I'll check with the canadian embassy.

Thank you again for your help.

  3. I did have a question for people who know ..

    1. Now that my wife is here, do we need to wait for the actual Green Card in hand before we apply for the SSN card ? Or can we apply right away ?

    2. Can we travel outside US before we get the physical card, for instance if we wanted to drive into Canada, would coming back be an issue ? Although the Immigrant Visa is valid for the next 6 months.

    Thanks.

Its roughly about $100 (7,000 RPS) to ship around 40LBS. If you are flying with a airline and the checked in bag is less then $100, i would say that would be your cheapest and quickest option. We have received stuff from there, Never have any problems. However a Checked in bag would be cheaper and she would get it right away.

    Thank you ! That's helpful.

Yes, we were considering Air India - it's a direct flight to EWR. However they allow only one bag - and the second is $50, which we'll take. The third is about $240 I believe.

Will look at other one-hop flights as well, which allow two bags, so then we can get a third bag as additional.

    Thank you for your reply.

she cant sell some of her clothes? the money what she can get after selling some stuffs, she can buy clothes etc once she get there.

that is what i am planning to do. i am not taking much stuffs.

only my daughter and I clothes and that it.

sell the stuffs and get money from it.

That's true - the clothes etc, she'll only get what is absolutely necessary, so that should fit in the two bags. Rest we'll buy here.

The other stuff I was talking about was more of sentimental value, gifts from loved ones etc that she'd like to bring here if possible.

  6. Does anyone have experience shipping their stuff from India to US ? We are going to book a flight for my wife soon, but at most she'll carry two big bags with her.

We are debating between carrying a third bag, OR using a shipping company to send over a lot more of her stuff from there to here - for instance, winter clothing and other collectibles which can take a few months to arrive by Sea but that delay is fine.

Does anyone know how that compares cost-wise ?

    Thanks.

    Hey there,

I did not :( We have a Priority Date of May 3rd 2018. Could it be because of that? But then again, I just saw someone with a PD of May 2018 get scheduled too. We have a CC of Feb 1. What could be wrong!? On hold with NVC right now.

    Hey Rohit,

Thats tough man. I hope you get something concrete from NVC on the phone today. Praying that you guys get your interview letter in this batch !

There you go guys! Red bull worked. So happy that Mumbai embassy finally woke up! Vj USerr See my intuition was right hehe 😜 Get your medicals booked quickly. I got mine done today and tomorrow I am going to be going for biometrics. May 6th is not too far away. Will wait for you guys to come back and write consulate reviews. Congratulations!!!! 🙂

sj0509 I don't know if an expedition will work now but I will leave that to somebody who has knowledge about it. Even if it doesn't work, you are lucky, we all are. There is someone called Rohit, have heard back from him yet but he's been waiting since early February to get an interview. I hope he got a date too. Good Luck!

    Thanks Shreebhagyak9.

Yeah, I remember Rohit from last month, when everyone but them got an interview from Mumbai. And I know your wait has been reallyy long too. So yeah, I don't have much reason to complain.

And maybe I'll use the extra 2 weeks for a last solo trip before wifey gets here ! 😛

Hey, My CC  on March 6, 2019 , IR1 category.

    consulate: Mumbai, India

Let me know if you get any update!!!

Our CC was 3/8 - Mumbai as well. We didn't get any interview email either, but I wasn't expecting it either given that a lot of ppl from Jan end and Feb were still in queue. Now that a lot of them have been assigned dates yesterday, I'm hoping that we will get our dates in the next batch that gets sent out, hopefully around 3/25.

So we just got told from an NVC rep that we haven't been scheduled yet and it's highly unlikely that they will be scheduling anymore interviews in April for Mumbai. They said the next date they'll schedule interviews will be starting Mar 25, which will be for May. All this sounds super weird to me - will try and call them again tomorrow and speak to another rep.

    CC 1st Feb ( CR-1, Mumbai)

I'm sorry to hear that. This is such an erratic process. I hope they have a positive answer for you tomorrow, but if not then at least there's light at the end of the tunnel. 25th Mar isn't that far away in the context of things...

  11. Hi All,

We got Case Complete at NVC today, 3/8. I see there are quite a few ppl waiting to be scheduled at the Mumbai consulate all the way back from Jan end .. :( I hope for a speedy appointment for all you guys (and at other consulates too).

I'm hoping that my wife gets her interview before May end, and is able to join me soon after. Her birthday falls in June, would love to celebrate it together.

Wishing everyone on here good luck with the interviews.

Did anyone who's already completed the DS-260 electronically sign the last page for their spouse? I told my husband he should log in from Morocco and do it because I don't know if they can tell by IP address or whatever where it was signed and then he gets in trouble for having me do it for him. Sorry for the constant questions, this is so annoying!

    24 minutes ago, SM&RM said:

Sorry no response from anyone. So I will answer. You can complete it for him. I will complete it for my husband as well. I read it on their website that we can.

    Hi,

We completed the DS-260 last night, and I submitted for my wife as well, though she reviewed / edited it before I made the final submission. We submitted the I-864 and DS-260 at the same time.

This link also speaks of it being ok that the petitioner can submit on behalf of the applicant : https://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php?title=NVC_Process (Step 2 - Submit DS-261)
