  1. Hi All,

I'm filling out the I-864 to sponsor my wife. For the household size question, the form is auto-calculating the household size to 3. Is that what the others got as well ?

In this case, bullet 1 was auto-calculated from Part 3, Item 29, and in bullet 3, if I add "1" for my spouse, the total number becomes three, even though bullet 1 and bullet 3 refer to the same person.

How did the others go about this ?

    Thanks.

    I have a self-employedjoint sponsor.

I uploaded complete tax returns for the past 3 years and 1099s for each of those years.

I got an rfe asking for 2017 tax transcript.

So might be a good idea to upload that.

I also uploaded a letter stating the nature of her business along with her license info.

Also her past 6 months bank statements.

Very annoyed they asked for the transcript when I already submitted a 50 page tax return.

They should just ask for one or the other.

Yeah I read about your case. Sorry to hear what happened. These guys are just clueless about how these little things (for them) affect our lives.

I'll gather all the documents mentioned and upload I guess, since I have most of it anyway.

Thanks for your msg. Best of luck with your submissions.

Hi. I see you posted this 10 hours ago. I just got my case number almost an hour ago. Did you try to log in to CEAC as soon as you got the case number or did you wait a few hours? Because I just tried to log in twice and I'm getting a message that my invoice ID and case number don't match their records.

    Hi,

I got the email around 9 this morning, and I think I tried logging in for the first time around 12 or 1, and was able to get in without any issues.

Maybe try again in a couple hours / in the morning. Hopefully this is just a timing thing, and the systems haven't been updated yet. In any case, I'm sure they'll be able to resolve it on the phone, if need be.

    All the best :)

  4. Hi all,

Wondering if there's any self-employed sponsor on this forum ?

I have a single member LLC, and wondering if I need to provide any documentation in addition to last three years' IRS transcripts. Does anyone have any experience / knowledge about that ?

    I read this article: https://learn.simplecitizen.com/2017/06/self-employed-sponsor-uscis-form-864-affidavit-support/

    And this is suggesting,

    • Complete Tax Returns from previous years
    • Business License / Registration etc
    • Bank Statements for previous months

I don't have any issues submitting these, (and maybe even my Investments statements), but my worry is that the more documentation I provide, the more it confuses them, and causes them to request further documentation / RFE.

What minimum have the other self-employeds gotten through with ?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi All,

Just a quick update. We received our NVC case number and Invoice ID by email today, 19th Feb.

We were approved by USCIS on 27th Nov, and the NVC received our case on Jan 2nd.

I made the payment for both the AOS and IV fees today.

AOS went through fine, however, while paying for IV there seemed to be an internal error (DB transaction rolled back) and consequently the Transaction ID wasn't generated. It still shows the status as In Process though, similar to AOS. So I'm hoping both will open up in a couple days to upload documentation.

If IV doesn't open up, I'll unfortunately have to call them to get things sorted out. Will keep you guys posted.

So they reset the status for the failed payment after a short while, and I was able to make the payment again, successfully this time. So all good on that front.

God has heard my rant, today in the mail I received my approval notice today. It shocked me, because it was the only thing in my mail box on a Saturday. I didn’t receive notifications at all. I checked both websites and the tracker app. I see the notice Date was on the 20th of November. I did read on the news, that the USPS is behind on their mail. As I said before, everyone stay strong and keep fighting. Don’t give up. Good things are coming.

Hope you all get your notices soon!

That's great news guys ! So happy for both of you ! The first thing I did today on getting back home was to go check my mailbox !! But alas need to wait a little longer :)

Good luck with the next steps you guys !

    Hello!

Who else is a fellow May filer?

May this journey be easy and speedy for us all!

    Hi,

I also filed I-130 for my spouse this month. Sent in the packet on 5/5. Was received 5/8, and I got confirmation by email and text today (5/14). The check was also cashed from my account this morning.

Good luck to everyone and wishing a speedy process for all !

  10. Hi All,

I have a few questions on the I-130 / I-130A forms. Some of them may sound stupid, but better safe than sorry :) Would appreciate your responses.

    Form I-130

    Part 2. Information about you.

    1.       Address History

(12.a) My mailing address is the same as my physical address. So once I check the box for # 11 on the pdf, Physical Address 1 in the address history gets disabled. I’ve been living at the same residence for 7 years, but I can’t enter the dates for that now. So I’m trying to use Physical Address 2. Here I’m unable to type in PRESENT for the “Date To” field. Did others just print out the form and handwrite it ? Or should I be doing this another way ?

    2.       Employment History.

             (42) I’m self-employed for the last 4 years. Should I write “Self Employed” in the “Name of Employer” field, or should I write the name of my Single Member LLC? For my citizenship application, I had written Self Employed, but here the instructions don’t seem to state a preference.

    Part 4. Information about Beneficiary.

    1.       Beneficiary’s Physical Address

(11f) We don’t have provinces in India, but there’s no place to fill in the state. Can I fill that in the field marked for Province ? Or leave it out completely ?

    2.       Information about Beneficiary’s family.

(25.a) I have already listed my name in the previous section (21.a - Name of beneficiary’s spouses). I want to confirm that I need to list it again in 25.a (which asks to list the beneficiary’s spouse and children) ?

    Form I-130A (Beneficiary)

    1.       Information About Parent 1

    ·         (10.a) My spouse’s father is no more. Do I still need to input his information or should I leave that out? Her passport does have her father’s name though. And if I do need to specify his information, how / where can I specify he's no more.

    Supporting documents:

    1.       For documents to prove family relationship, what can I provide ? I do have our Court Registration certificate, pictures of the Indian ceremony (those I can print out), and we also updated our social media accounts (I could take screenshots of those ? ). Should I be providing anything else at this point ?

    Thank you for your help.

    Regards.

  11. Thank you all for the helpful replies.

I agree, based on my limited experience with an attorney this week, that their responses are quite slow, and it'll probably just add to the delay. I'll go over the I-130 form in detail this weekend, and come back with questions, if any.

And I do like Sunnyland's idea of saving that money, and using it towards our honeymoon :)

    Thanks all.

  12. Hi All,

I'm new to this forum, and this is my first question here.

I'm a US citizen, recently married. My wife is based in India, and I need to file for her I-130. I'm wondering if there are any reputable Immigration services that I could engage to assist with the filing of the I-130.

I know I could go about it on my own, but I'd rather not take a chance given the long wait times, and the delays that could happen if I were to miss anything. Also, if can be avoided, I'd prefer to use an Immigration service, rather than an Immigration Lawyer, whose charges are quite high.

So some suggestions from the experienced people on this forum would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks.
