I wish gov would change AOS from B to take minimum 4 to 5 years. People wouldn't do this anymore and would do the proper way.
It wouldn't clog the pipes where people applied and followed the rules.

If I were you, I would buy round trip ticket. Not because it's a requirement, but in general RT tickets are way cheaper than one way tickets.
You can select return flight up to 330 days (I think that's the max), and use it maybe for next time.

Bottomline. Yes she can file naturalization based on 3 year rule even with a pending filed I-751.
She can file N400 three years from resident since date on GC (and file early 3 years minus 90 days). All the best.

Thunderbolt got a reaction from Crazy Cat in N400 under 3 year rule question
    Hello,

My wife came to US on K-1 in February 2019. She got her 2 year GC in September 2019. This year her GC expired, but about 4 weeks before we've got extension letter for 24 months.
Originally we were thinking that she will file for her citizenship after 5 years of having GC. Now I did some reading and she's eligible to file N400 under 3 year rule of being married to citizen. Can we actually do the N400 application if she still doesn't have her 10 year GC? Are there any side effects? Can we do it now?

    Thanks

She may file starting from 90 days before her 3rd anniversary as LPR -- https://www.uscis.gov/forms/uscis-early-filing-calculator

Yes, from the "Resident Since" date on the GC.  She may apply under the 3-year rule if she has been an LPR for 3 years AND married to a USC for those 3 years.

I also think that the problem will be with the name not matching the passport. The airline may refuse to board you in UK.

    This is my speculation:

The problem is that there at least 4 databases that track your citizenship status and none are the single source of truth (which is a major design flaw but that’s the situation).

    * USCIS  has 2  databases: SAVE and database of aliens who have obtained  benefits from USCIS.  State DMVs and social security work with SAVE.  SAVE has more entries than the alien benefits days are because people born in the USA or who have CRBAs normally would not be in the alien benefits database.

    * SSA keeps a database

    * The State department keeps a database

It appears the SAVE database requires both USCIS and SSA to confirm updates. Makes  sense since most U.S. citizens have birth certificates

    Consequences:

    1. If you claim to be a U.S. citizen on I-9 and your employer uses e-verify, e-verify might fail and eventually you might be terminated.

    2. If you claim to be a U.S. citizen when applying for a drivers license or state ID, SAVE might fail and your document might be delayed or denied.  Some states will accept an original naturalization certificate in this situation and some of those states won’t accept a passport or passport card.

    3. if you apply for social security benefits, a discrepancy between your claimed status and what SSA thinks your status is could delay benefits, especially if you plan to live outside the U.S.

    4. This is no speculation: If you need to replace your social security card, in most states U.S. citizens can do this online. For the part 3 years when SSA closed field operations, that was nice option for people who had all their documents stolen.

Drive 7 hours with driving instructor...

I was surprised too. My wife did the written exam for the learners permit. After that she could go 2 ways:
    1. Take the driving exam at the local DMV
    2. Take Driver Education class online exam and enroll with local driving school, to have 7 hours of driving with them.

After 7 hours of driving around, they've issued a certificate that she can drive. With that we went to DMV website, uploaded the certificate, and about 1 week later her DL arrived in mail.

However, No.2 cost here in Virginia about $350. We went with No.2 so the instructor would give her pointers which maybe I've missed while teaching her. Nope. It turned out to be just drive for 7 hours, no driving instructions whatsoever.

And No.1 is free, up to 3 times a month

Same thing with us. We did 2 intl trips in the last 6 months and both times no problems.
We had our marriage certificate just in case but nobody ever asked for it.
GC is in married name and wife's passport in maiden name.

Remember to book your wife's travel with her name in the PASSPORT I had that question for one of the European embassies (my wife had to apply for a Schengen visa), and I didn't know if I should put her new name or old name. It was cleared by the embassy via email. Always use passport name.

The NVC does sometimes send what they all a welcome letter via email with your case number, most people never get it ( I didn't) I had to do the call on the phone late at night right before the NVC call center closed to get my case and invoice number. I have seen people get the email he is taking about, but your better off deleting it, because honestly your better off without it.
Like others have said, follow the CEAC case tracker to keep up on your visa status, but until it says at the consulate, and then the status changes to "Ready" there is not much to do.
I will throw in the fact that I successfully completed my wifes K1 process without uploading anything to the NVC, so I agree with all the other posters, you do not upload anything to NVC with a K1.

    @Thunderbolt hi there,

if this can help. I receive my I751 notice in July 2021. I went to Italy on vacation in December 2021 and came back beginning of January 2022. When I came back here I showed the flight attendant at Milan airport my passport, expired gc, and i751 ext letter. They knew exactly what the document was. I lended in NY airport and the officer looked at my document, gc, passport, i751 stamped my passport and let me in. He asked me how long I had stayed outside the US.
If your wife receives her I751 before traveling she will be fine. She needs her expired gc, her Thai passport and her i751 ext letter.
    Hope this helped

Thanks for the input. House/car were owned before she moved in, so it's not with both of our names.
On my life insurance from work she's as my beneficiary.
I'll start preparing the forms and supporting documents tomorrow. Very anxious.

Also, I've been reading a lot of other I751 posts, and it seems that it takes up to 2 years to get it approved.
My wife's GC expires in September, how is she going to be able to leave the country in November?
We are planning to travel to Thailand since she hasn't seen her family in over 3 years. Do we need to apply for some kind of permit?

    Thank you!

House / car are valuable evidence, send copies ( they show shared address) and a short description, “ in x spouse name , purchased prior to marriage “

You will be fine, no reason to worry.

When you successfully submit an i751 form to remove conditions on her green card USCIS will send you a receipt notice that will have an extension of your expired green card up to 24 months.

You use the expired green card with the 24 month extension letter together when you travel or anytime you need to prove your continued LPR status.

If your case drags on beyond two years after your green card expires you can get an i551 stamp in your passport at your local USCIS field office.
