For CR1/IR1 process, at the NVC stage.

JISnJRS got a reaction from SalishSea in Living in FL, but the interview in NYC
I'm confused also, that's why I threw the question out there. She is the petitioner, AND he is outside the US. I might have titled it wrong, it might have been the interview for the NVC stage. If I did, I'm very sorry for the confusion.

JISnJRS reacted to Crazy Cat in Is a Lawyer Worth It? CR1 visa
Hiring an attorney will not speed up the process. There are no shortcuts. Our attorney actually caused a 3 month delay due to failure to send required documents and giving us inaccurate information. Unless your case is complicated, save your money. The VJ guides are good.

JISnJRS reacted to Crazy Cat in I130 approval
That is impossible. Visa Journey does not notify or update case approvals..... VJ only gives an estimate of when a case might be approved based on the inpt of members.

JISnJRS reacted to BOKURAGAITA in Expedite AP Approved!
Good day,
Like i promised I came back to update whenever there is an update. I posted a question here on Sept 1 if its possible to expedite my AP, i followed @Family told me to email and contact a congressman, my husband and I talked to their representative, i contacted the embassy in the Philippines we waited and i upload proofs in my uscis account too, its a long 25 days for us when we started it and today few minutes ago our Request was Approved! We still have long way to go but pretty excited since we have a lot of planning to do before leaving the country.
My english is really bad but i thank you VJ for guiding me, we still have long way to go.

JISnJRS got a reaction from Ontarkie in expedited request @ USCIS
Even worse I moved to Florida in 2016, to take care of my mother & stepdad the best I could. Now, they are both in heaven, and I have none one to care for me down here.
it does suck, I would call it a "shop-vac" .. it suck one day and blows the next!

JISnJRS reacted to Ontarkie in expedited request @ USCIS
Being disabled in itself does not meet the requirements. In another post you said since 2006 you have been disabled. So I can see why they would deny it. It is not an emergency and not urgent humanitarian reasons.
It does suck though and I'm sorry it didn't work.

JISnJRS reacted to Chancy in I need your advice
*** Moved from Bringing Family of USC forum to IR1/CR1 Process & Procedures, where topics about I-130 for spouse of USC are discussed ***
Your spouse beneficiary studying in Canada will have no negative impact on the processing of your I-130 petition for him. It might turn out to be better for him to be residing in Canada when it comes time to apply for his spouse visa as the wait time for interview in Montreal is currently shorter than that for the consulate in Lagos.

JISnJRS reacted to Cyberfx1024 in Philippines divorce question
That is wrong. Yoh will get a CEMAR that will take to the embassy with your divorce certificate. This applies for both K1s and CR1 in your situation.

JISnJRS reacted to nastra30 in K-1 VS CR1 (IR1)
You see, you don't even know how this thing works. Each person's petition/application is different. Cases go to different service centers, different consulates, different regions, different circumstances, fbi search, etc etc. I won't bore you with other petty instances as it relates to timing but believe me when I say everyone's case is different. And my friend, this can affect when cases are approved.
Anyway, as I said do you and go for a lawyer. BTW, visajourney is mostly a community for DIYs. Just saying.
Lol, the triggered bit. Hmm, and I wonder who gets triggered more than lawyers.
Sure; I'll let it go. Congrats on your approval BTW. Hope for more speedy processing with the rest of the process.

JISnJRS reacted to nastra30 in K-1 VS CR1 (IR1)
If one can afford a lawyer, sure go for it. However, there have also been numerous stories on here where lawyers have also screwed up people's applications or made worse their problems.
Most people on here went the DIY route and have successfully navigated the process with ease including myself. We saved all the money that would have gone to lawyers on vacations.

JISnJRS reacted to GuidoArizona in K-1 VS CR1 (IR1)
Just wanted to pass along some updates in case this helps anyone. We really agonized over the decision between K-1 and CR1 (I-130). We finally decided it was better to get married and go the CR-1 route. BEST. DECISION. EVER. 219 days from submission on the I-130 to the interview date. I highly recommend the CR1 route! Yes - I have a lawyer (and you need a lawyer, too). Yes - I filed Expedite Requests that were denied. Yes - I filed a 129 (K-3) and got denied on that, too. Just passing along my experience ... good luck to everyone. #1 piece of advice: GET A GOOD LAWYER. It makes a huge difference. Little mistakes (made by YOU) will cause massive delays. A lawyer will make sure everything is right the first time.

JISnJRS reacted to Strawberrymermaid in Process of withdrawal? Where does the application go?
A snippet of my email/ letter I sent direct to embassy:
I have filed for divorce from my spouse in Russia and wish to withdraw case number -00000000000.
Their email back:
We can confirm the case has been updated to reflect the divorce and the application will not proceed.
-
JISnJRS reacted to Mike E in Process of withdrawal? Where does the application go?
I would contact the embassy and NVC and state that you are withdrawing your I-864.
I would write the service center and state that you are withdrawing the I-130.
As others have said this might not be necessary. But you signed both those forms and so technically you should withdraw those forms.
-
JISnJRS reacted to Chancy in Process of withdrawal? Where does the application go?
Yes, the service center listed on the NOA2. Just a statement that you are withdrawing the I-130 because you are divorcing, will be sufficient. Even if you do not get a response back from USCIS, the withdrawal request will be kept in their records.

JISnJRS reacted to Unlockable in Got quoted 10k for K1 visa process in Atlanta
I will save you $10K and make you a profit by giving my 2 cents of advice. Use the guides and resources here on VJ and DIY.
Majority of the people here (including myself) have successfully completed the K1 themselves with no help for a lawyer or firm. You have already made the first step by discovering this site. All you have to do is read, read, read.
Here is a help in the right direction...
