Day 2 went perfectly. They accepted Aira’s pictures and got their shots. They have the medical packet and are waiting for the interview on Tuesday. I leave for Manila in a few hours.

I think a little of both.  Getting a new picture isn't bad but add that to all the other stuff like a system error that kept my wife's expedited petition at NVC a month longer than it should have been there, and things get just plain weird.  We are still forging ahead but I am much more stressed now waiting for the next "challenge".  I was taught that "problem" to "issue" are negative words.  "Challenge" is positive.  So I'm waiting on the next F-ing "challenge"  😁🤣

Rose and the kids had day one of medical today.  They didn't accept Aira's passport photos because an ear was showing????  The picture looks fine to me but we got new pics for her anyway.  They also required the eligibility letter.  We didn't bring that but we had the interview confirmation and the NVC letter (as stated on SLEC's site).  They said it was OK to bring the new picture and eligibility letter tomorrow for Day 2.

They also have to get more shots.  I was surprised since they had them all just a year ago and they have the records.  All in all, nothing terrible but the picture and requiring a letter that isn't listed as required but we got this.

Hopefully the new pic is good and they go straight to immunizations...

No she can not block someones VISA.   If she is being harrassed she needs to contact law enforcement.  She may be able to get a no contact or restraining order.  If that is violated then the offender could be charged with a crime and then the visa might be in jeopardy.

    not in this case.

the petitioner is the one that has to get a co sponsor.

think of it however you want, but 'thems the facts'.

i dont expect to need a cosponsor but with a job change late last year i have one lined up... JUST IN CASE.

    always be prepared.

    1) Please don't type in all caps LIKE THIS. It means you are yelling.

    2) Does your husband live in Pakistan? If not then he probably needed to get divorced where he lives which was Texas.  If he wasn't properly divorced before you were married, you may have more issues.  Your petition will not expire.  But if you do not provide the information that has been asked for within the time frame it is required, then it will be eventually returned to the USCIS.   Currently your petition and visa package are sitting at the embassy.

Next time read the link first please.  I didn't say you can't use houses.  I said they had to be liquid and cannot cause financial difficulties.  Having to sell a house for cash in under a year would be considered a financial difficulty unless they are extra empty properties...

Only assets that can be converted into cash within one year and without considerable hardship or financial loss to the owner may be included. The owner of the asset must include a description of the asset, proof of ownership, and the basis for the owner’s claim of its net cash value.
You may include the net value of your home as an asset. The net value of the home is the appraised value of the home, minus the sum of any and all loans secured by a mortgage, trust deed, or other lien on the home. If you wish to include the net value of your home, then you must include documentation demonstrating that you own it, a recent appraisal by a licensed appraiser, and evidence of the amount of any and all loans secured by a mortgage, trust deed, or other lien on the home. You may not include the net value of an automobile unless you show that you have more than one automobile, and at least one automobile is not included as an asset.

Take the I-864 seriously.  The government WILL come after the joint sponsor.  This isn't the I-134 form.  This one is legally enforceable.  The joint sponsor needs to realize that.

This is why many Embassies (Philippines for example) do not allow assets and if they do they rarely allow inhabited houses.

JISnJRS reacted to geowrian in Today diagnosed with prostate cancer..can I request an expedite
It's worth a try. Personally I would wait until you know more about the situation - treatment options, side effects, effectiveness, scan results, prognosis, etc. The initial diagnosis is difficult to deal with, so try not to start stressing youurself over other items as well...absorb it one thing at a time.
Medical reasons are certainly eligible for an expedite, although the specifics and evidence do matter. There should be a strong case as to why the beneficiary is needed.
Chemo can be tolerable or awful. The worst is typically around 3 cycles in or so, although the specific drug/drugs and how they impact one's body are never really too predictable.

    Good luck and best wishes.

    Why not a CR-1?
Every couple has their own priorities, and each couple must decide which visa is better for their situation.
    K-1
Slightly faster arrival in the US (currently about 5 months sooner)
        More expensive than CR-1
Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork)
Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (approx 5-6 months)
Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (approx 5-6 months)
Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period
Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed.

    CR-1
Slightly slower arrival in the US (currently about 5 months later)
        Less expensive than K-1
        No Adjustment of Status(I-485, I-131, I-765) required.
Spouse can immediately travel outside the US
Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival.
Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US
Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport.
Spouse has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US.

JISnJRS reacted to John & Rose in confused about our case at NVC/embassy
Time for a new lawyer.  Call NVC and use your USCIS number.  They will help you.  If you don't have that, call USCIS with your names and birthdates and they can give you that number.  This is your life and the lawyer is only interested in making a few more dollars.

NVC sets the interview.  That is set BEFORE they send the package to the Embassy.

LOL...the attorney's office is blowing smoke here........Even if the case was at the consulate, it would be NVC which schedules the interview and contacts the attorney office.  I suspect someone just wanted to get you off their back........
I would immediately DEMAND that the attorney give you the case number so that you can check the status online........
