Chrisunknown got a reaction from NYLondon in K1 visa Adjustmwnt of status fees
We are going throuhh the process of adjusting my status and going to be sending the forms off for me to work along with it.
We got married July 20th and got all the paperwork we needed today so be sending everything off.
I just want to double check something if we file for the adjustment of status along with the permission to work do we just pay the one fee along with the biometrics fee.
The total is $1225 is that correct

Getting SSN before AOS is mandatory in my opinion. You can’t do anything without a ssn and if you ask USCIS to do it for you it will take months.

If you're still within two weeks short of the original 90 days from entering the US, you can also apply at your local Social Security office. It's helpful to have an SSN because many forms (from the government, banks, insurance companies, and others) either require an SSN or will probably require convincing a person that an SSN is not required even if there's a space for it on the form. Otherwise you won't be able to get one until EAD is approved.
There's an SSN guide here, though it looks like it's a bit out of date: http://www.visajourney.com/content/ssn

correct, have you guys also filled out the i-131form for AP? Good luck

if you do not have one and all the sudden have the urgency to fly away....you loose all your AOS filing and by that you have decided to drop it.

Chrisunknown reacted to Crazy Cat in K1 visa Adjustmwnt of status fees
I suggest you apply for AOS, EAD, and AP.........your spouse might have a reason to travel (unknown circumstances)........it costs nothing if filed with the AOS.

Chrisunknown got a reaction from Brittani in After k1 visa interview approval Administrative Processing
Flight all booked for next week.
The original parcel contained this plus my passport with the visa page in it.
my police certificate was in it too.
honestly it all happened pretty quick, I had my medical 12th June I called every day and got a cancellation then had my interview 21st and a week later I’ve got my visa in hand. I wish the rest of the process would have been this quick.

If you're talking about on CEAC it never changed from issued to dispatched.
He got his last Friday and it still shows issued.

That's awesome, congrats! It should come soon. Ours from the time we filed to when he will be getting here was roughly 9 months to the day. So happy to finally be ending this chapter and starting a new.

Chrisunknown reacted to Christy&J in After k1 visa interview approval Administrative Processing
it is normal and actually a good sign if it's in AP.
I had my interview 20 June. it changed to AP few hours after my appointment. Yesterday it changed to Application received and then 15 mins later changed back to Administrative Processing.
today it changed to issued

Chrisunknown reacted to Dashinka in After k1 visa interview approval Administrative Processing
Administrative processing is a catch-all category that can mean many things from simply printing out the visa, affixing it to your passport and shipping it to you, to additional reviews/approvals (i.e. supervisors) needed, to additional background checks. Not much that can be done except to wait. In the CO told you 1-2 weeks, it may stay in AP until you actually receive your passport back with the visa.
Good Luck!
