Oh, to be young again 😂

FYI, the fact that your beloved is in the military may actually work against you. marriage fraud is rampant in the military even among US citizens. It's most often perpetrated by non-NCO enlisted men. So that will be another red flag on your petition. Given your ages, I'm guessing your fiance fits that description. USCIS and the military have been working hard together the last several years to curb the high, and increasing, rates of marriage fraud.

But really, there is nothing to do but apply and hope for the best.

As an aside, my favorite super-fast marriage I witnessed in the military was when my unit was temporarily assigned to Biloxi, MS for 2 weeks. In that time, a guy in my unit met the love of his life dancing at a bar and they got married. Cute little redhead. She packed her things in her mustang and practically beat us getting back to San Diego. That was 25 years ago and as far as I know, they're still together.

So, we're filling out the DS-160 and came across something I had a question about. I figured others might as well when you get there. There is a question on the form that asks, "Do you have documentation to establish that you have received vaccinations in accordance withUS law?" For various reasons, we were not sure how we should answer the question. (ie: some documentation but maybe not all, etc...) So I searched the board and found this thread. The best answer, and obvious in hindsight, is yes, because:

As luck would have it, I got an email from the embassy this morning. First they emailed me asking for up-to-date contact info for my fiance. Then they email "packet 3" to my fiancee. Does that mean we are past the NVC part of the process? I thought I would need to send them something. LOL, at one point, I was pretty sure I had a handle on how this process plays out, but that seems like so long ago, now.

If you've been approved on March you should have normally received your letter by now. We were approved on March 26th and received our hard copy on March 30th.

OK, first of all, thanks for the info on the "new site" at dhs.gov. I have been looking at the old site, which shows no update on the case.

Now: The "new site" shows we were approved on March 16 and I should receive a letter by April 15th. I know it's only April 1st but I'm a little worried that I haven't received anything in the mail yet. Anyone else still waiting on an actual letter?

Cheers, thanks, and good luck to you all!

Ugh, sorry, but I have to vent. I've been reading this site for over six months now and I can't wait until this process is over so I can stop coming here. My God! There are a lot of helpful people on here but there are a few just absolutely toxic people who seem to pop up in nearly every thread and are just so nasty to people in their tone, assume the worst about people and their scenarios, and are just unhelpful in general. Ugh, it's unfortunate. Maybe I should just bookmark this thread and stay away from the rest of the forums. In fact...I think I just might do that!

I posted a thread about my expedite I requested and 90% of the people we're really rude. It's actually really sad. We're supposed to lift each other up but yet some people want to break people's spirit. It's funny to me to because a lot of then people who were giving me rude comments were people who only had to wait 50 to 90 days for their approval

today for for example I learnt "I have magic up my butt" and obviously it is approval magic as that was my question... I'm continuously twerking now so it can rub on everyone and we can all get approvals 😂😂

September by the way so far extremely peaceful and happy chill place... hope we can stay this way.. I love it ❤️

So they just happened to end up processing your file and sending an RFE on the same day they were responding to the congressional inquiry? No, more likely, after the inquiry, someone got off their butt and found your file in some bin. They had to respond to your rep with some plausible reason it's been sitting for 9 months and "Oh, we need some additional information," works. All you can do now is wait for the letter but I'm betting and hoping it will be something trivial that you'll be able to respond to easily.

I have told our story on here many times when people ask about traveling abroad on AP or with an extension letter for ROC.   Upon checking in for our flight home from a vacation to Mexico, Frontier airlines refused to issue my husband a boarding pass while traveling with the AP/EAD combo card.  At the time the combo cards had been in use for about a year but frontier airlines in Mexico was not familiar with them so they would not issue him a boarding pass to return home.   They told us they would only accept an unexpired green card.
After filing many complaints, what I learned from this was that even with proper documents, the airline does not have to let you board if they have any reason to think there is any possibility you will be turned away at the border.
I always advise people to make sure the airline they are traveling home with is familiar with the documentation they will be traveling with.

You are wasting your time and energy expecting some kind of recourse from the airline or USCIS.

No problem. You'll want to talk to an immigration attorney for sure. But your situation sounds like if you can't get your wife's problems solved and have to leave her for your own safety, you may be eligible for self-petitioning under VAWA (which applies to men as well as women, despite the name).

Actually, a material misrepresentation is defined as: "a false representation concerning a fact that is relevant to the person’s eligibility for an immigration benefit." See INA 212(a)(6)(C)(i). For a definition of materiality, see Chapter 3, Adjudicating Inadmissibility, Section E, Materiality [8 USCIS-PM J.3(E)]. Ie, lying about what kind of car you drive is a harmless misrepresentation because it has no bearing on the immigration case. Lying about how one met their fiance does have a bearing on an immigration case, obviously, as there are entire sections of code devoted to it, IMBRA, etc...

At the end of the day, we're all just speculating at this point because only the CO knows why they denied the visa. Given the lack of information, one person's wild guess is as good as anyone else's, imho.

All these people giving advice about Jamaica who are not from Jamaica or filing for someone from Jamaica. If your partner tests negative on the drug but admits to previous drug use they will make him go to psych. It is there that the doctor will make the decision and sends it to the embassy where he will either get the visa or not based on the psych doctor.
The foolishness about looking nervous is bullshit pardon my French because ppl are nervous so ofcourse they are going to seem anxious. He would have to be a damn crackhead or heroin addict for the doctors at the medical to say no. Now if his drug test is positive then he receives the 1 year ban and has to wait that year to try again for the visa. I hate when people give advice about something they know nothing at all about or very little information. I know people first hand who couldn't get the visa because the drug test come positive and just waited a year without smoking, took the test again, tested negative and received their visa. My advice is continue to stop smoking and be honest. Lying is way worse than failing the drug test.

This is sort of what my fiance and I plan to do. She is from a small Indonesian village (but lives in an industrial city now). Once the Visa is approved, we plan to do a little family vacation with her parents to Bali. It's the same country, but a different world. For our actual Honeymoon, I'm hoping the timing works out so we can go somewhere in the US that still has a good bit of snow since that's something she's never experienced and we also don't get much of in my city.
