  1. You are correct on the interview being short. It lasted like 2 minutes and her mom was only asked like 2 questions. They had made up their mind before the interview started. But maybe a different CO can help even though it's likely

I'll just be making a donation to the embassy

  2. Greetings everyone. I am trying to get my mother in law and father in law to visit the states and spend time with our family. A while back when my wife was under pending status for her green card we applied for a tourist visa for her mom only and was denied for lack of strong ties to her country.

    Background:

I'm a US citizen and my wife is a permanent resident now with her 2 year resident card.

Country of origin is El Salvador

I have good income and write has some income now. Her family has little income and little assets (a little cashflow/savings and a small parcel of land they are building a home on) I can show affidavit of support and proof of trip coverage, which I did last time as well.

Her mother has no immigration red flags and has positive travel history to Canada being granted tourist visas there twice. Father has little travel history except to neighboring countries.

Also last time the interviewer found it strange we only applied for her mother and not her father and we believe that may have contributed to the denial. The reason we did that was we wanted to get one approved at a time instead of throwing away money at embassy fees if there was 0 chance. If we did this again we would do both at the same time now.

But before I do anything I want to know if we have a chance at all. If there is anything wrong can do for my mother and father in law to visit us. Writing a congressman? Open to any ideas.

  3. Hello! Have not been on for a bit been so busy with life. We just had our I485 adjustment of status interview.

    Questions asked.

    Why did we get married?

Why did we choose USA to live?

Basic questions about ourselves (birthdates, travel dates, any kids or past marriages, etc)

Lots of small talk. Whole process lasted about 12 minutes. Interviewer was very nice and made lots of little jokes.

Asked to see proof of living together and joint bank accounts and insurance. Also looked at our photos. All of them.

At the end she said everything looks good but they need to do standard checks and see if everything checks out in the computers. I asked if the interview was good and she said yes but standard procedures and we will get our answer soon by email.

But it just seems strange. No solid yes or no. No paper that some people seem to get saying review. No need of extra documents. Wondering if this is the norm.

  4. Hello. Haven't posted here for a bit so sorry if this out of place. We filed our EAD and Travel Documents with our I485 and the NOA was 12/20/18

Is it normal to be waiting this long? I don't see any active threads for others by month waiting for similar documents.

And I noticed on the uscis website for the National Visa center (where our documents are) it jumped from Processing applications 12/1/2018 to1 March of 2019 in a matter of days

    Very confused here

Congratulations.  I cannot wait for that day.  We are very excited to be together again. O man...lucky you.  I bet its like Christmas and you get another one commng up.

My fiance will be arriving through the Miami POE.  Can you tell us a bit more about the questioning ?  Any lessons learned or word of prevention that you can give us would be appreciated.  Whats her first reaction to coming to USA?

Yes it's amazing! And she was a little overwhelmed but obviously very excited.

Be ready for any questions that could have been asked during the interview. Your fiancee will probably be waiting  2 hours between the line and the waiting room. Anything and everything will come to light during this interview. So anything on the US petitioners criminal record will be mentioned to the beneficiary and used to question credibility. They will also ask about languages, how you met, and the wedding actual date.

Congratulations!! How was the interview overall? Any tough questions?

Also, curious what was taken as proof of employment?

The interview was only 4 questions. Name, how we met, language we speak and date of last trip. They didn't ask for any of the financial documents even though we had them.

  7. Hey everyone. Fiancee has her interview Thursday so wish us luck! 2 more days. We have everything else done and all documents except for proof of visa payment. When we scheduled the interview the CGI website made us pay before we could even schedule and sent us a generic email confirming payment saying we could schedule which my fiancee printed and is bringing with her. I  hope that's the proof they are referring to.

Ya fue a los exámenes médicos su prometida yo los tengo el 26 de octubre quería saber como es el proceso

It's pretty simple they are going to make you take your vaccinations if you have not had them yet. They will ask some questions about your mental health to determine if they feel you are a danger to yourself or others. They will then do a examinations and some basic tests.

We all sweat the details when it’s our own case.  But despite all the demands for information, RFE’s, etc., most of us found the people wanting to approve us, not play “gotcha” with every detail.  As stated before it’s likely they saw it and didn’t care.

They also have an incentive to get the case to approval on the first pass as often as possible, so I doubt they’d set up something to be appealed to add a$100 fine on the petitioner’s record.

Thank you for your positivity! Though i thought you can't appeal a K1 denial. I will stay in good spirits :)
