  1. Everyone one is different, but sometimes thought exercises can help. Which is worse: to wait to see the love of your life again, or to be alone without them ever again? I have friends and family that have served tours of duty in the military and have had to spend extended amounts of time apart, longer than what most of us will likely experience. I figure if they can do it, then so can I. I'm happy that once we are approved and together, I don't have to worry about being sent away. I would rather wait as long as is needed to be with my forever love than to never see her and hold her again, and I tell her every day. I will not give up on her, and I will do whatever it takes for us to be together.

Do you need a police report even if neither of you have ever had any arrests or citations?  Why would we be getting one now ( February filers ) even if we do need one for the interview?

Yes, though every country is a bit different at the embassy stage, they all require a police record regardless of criminal history from every country in which the beneficiary has lived. Some people just like to work ahead or are from countries that may take a long time to obtain the documentation needed from their governments. In most cases, the embassies accept a police record up to 6 months old, others allow up to 12 months.

    My theory is;

    1) old system was awful, and they are aware of it. because that system is at fault for a long time. So I actually like this new system in many ways, as most of the silent noa2's are updated, the information is usually more accurate etc.

    2) People is calling (and even here talking about calling them) to ask why they are doing mid November etc. I mean yes it is public but unless you search for it it wasn't an available information. so seriously that should have tick them off. If it was me it would. Calling to say why my date is not done? and adding no but I know you're doing this and this... it actually not a smart move. we all know that won't help ANYTHING, but it can take away all the information we all finally found. Really not smart.

Before this information. people would call saying "my friend said she got hers and she filed after me" or someone said so etc. and all they reply is "they must be lying/ trolling you to stress you"

However, so yes eventually the old system will die out, as it should.

I think this is a bit too worrisome. They have to know that people form groups and talk to each other. There's no rule that says people can't or shouldn't. The lack of transparency is a huge motivating factor. If they don't want people to group, share data points, and try to figure out how things work, they shouldn't create a situation that catalyzes those actions. Their fault, not ours.

I have a question for those who already received a police certificate. I thought we have to bring NOA2 to get the certificate, but I guess the hardcopy of NOA1 also works? I wasn't planning to do it until July/August, but since I'm getting a day off next week I decided to give it a go.

My fiancee didn't need any paperwork regarding the visa process. A person should be able to get their police record from their country regardless of whether they are working towards getting a US visa or not.

Sorry for getting folks riled up... Im just fed up with this process... Even when this stupid notification comes I'm still going to be pissed until we are reunited.

No worries, it's better to vent on the forums than throw something nice across the room and ruin it. We all have breaking points and sometimes some heated text is better than the alternatives.

WHat is the established window for a 10/5 filer with an RFE they’ve already received? .. 😑.. thank you

Did they give you a time frame in which they would respond on your RFE? It may sound unreasonable, and even unrealistic based on what you see on the forums for RFE turnarounds, but that's the line they will repeat to you until that time period has passed. Just pretend you're dealing with robots and not people and your expectations will be met. They are programmed to do one thing unless other parameters are met. :D

Yeah I get the same BS everytime I call... normal processing time and they are working on September... pointless calling them!

The Tier 1 operators don't give any more information than is available by looking at their website, and Tier 2 will give the same exact line unless your "submitted" date is past the date shown on their website as allowed to submit an inquiry. It's really not a wise use of time or energy to even call them unless your case is actually outside of their established window. All it will do is add to more frustration.

they are trying to classify "marriage" immigration as with majority of the fraud since this route use to be the quickest way to get into the country. I am totally aware of the other visas and the abuses that come along with it... go to USCIS's twitter page and see the constant nonsense about "marriage fraud" that they are trying to eliminate.

To randomly take a heap of cases and "lie" and say one did not check something off, or rattle off some BS reason to prolong this case is just awful... maybe they need to make this process better some way, some how.

Well, they aren't wrong which is why they passed things like the IMBRA to try to reign in one area where major abuse had been taken place. It's not probably politically correct or sensitive to point out that the term "mail order" spouse didn't appear out of nothing like magic. All stereotypes stem from the recurrence of some pattern, though it obviously doesn't apply to everyone. I've been through this before and I'm well aware of the frustrations with the nebulous and seemingly inconsistent decisions made by USCIS. I wish there was more transparency in the whole process too and they used the phone bank operators that are just there to parrot off "you're within normal processing time" to actually work cases or provide some information of value. Dealing with bureaucracy is a major pain. Always has been and always will be.

They got until bloody Friday or I am raising hell... this is utter nonsense. Simply because of foolish immigration propaganda. I am livid.

To be fair, the brunt of the propaganda has been against illegal immigration, which doesn't apply to anyone here. I know there has been talk about cutting down on legal immigration as well, but that also doesn't apply to us as it was more focused on those that use the I-130 to bring in extended family members (chain migration) and H1-Bs that are very often abused to bring in workers at significantly lower wages than their domestic counterparts, especially in the tech sector. If these policies were actually implemented as desired, it would actually make I-129Fs faster as it would cut down enormously on the caseload of adjudicators.

    Hey guys! Help please!!

Okay so from dec-to end of February i had a temp job (i filled in beg. Of feb) but now i have a permanent job that started beginning of March. i called USCIS about the job change and the said to write a formal letter explaing it and i even attached a payatub to my new job and sent it to USCIS office the adress they gave me. But i got the letter i wrote back and a letter from them that didn't make sense. Like they didnt get it!

    What do i do??????

I wouldn't worry about it. As a couple others have pointed out, your employment really only matters when it gets to the interview stage and you have to provide a I-134 Affidavit of Support to the beneficiary. Information in the I-129f is just used to establish your identity and they really only care if you change your contact information so they can advise you of status updates.

I am curious as to how anyone in this thread plans to plan their wedding? We're doing it courthouse wedding style to save money but I plan on splurging on a photographer. Of course the photographer needs a reservation date but we obviously have no idea what we're looking at... I'm afraid of waiting too long and missing the reservation window..

What do we do? What are y'all doing?

    Any insight please?

My fiancee and I have just planned to get to the courthouse within a few days of her arrival and then setting a date probably for the spring for a ring ceremony/reception.

    Hi all,

I mailed our application February 12th and it was delivered the 13th (sent it overnight, why not!). Got the text it was received on February 19th. Got the letter on February 23rd dated February 16th for NOA1. That seems quick, no? It was form 1-797C Notice of Action. The info here is so helpful (and makes me feel at least somewhat optimistic this will happen before the end of 2018).

So now we are waiting. We went away together to celebrate our engagement at the end of February. He comes next week for a visit and 6 weeks later in June. I will go to Ireland at the beginning of August and he will be back at the end of September and then no more travel planned after that lol. This is the most expensive relationship I've ever had! Thankfully FaceTime is free.

Since everyone here is waiting on the same timeline, I'm wondering how you attempt to plan things like moving, when he should give notice to his landlord (he has to give 3 months notice), wedding planning, etc. It seems trying to plan anything in a situation like this is impossible. I am struggling with the day to day of being so far away. And when we visit, it's so rushed and intense and then poof gone again. He will come for two weeks in June. That will help. But otherwise it's 5 days or so and jetlag and life and this is hard! Anyone else feeling the same way?

Yeah, that's the reality of this situation. We have an estimated window of when things will happen, but nothing is concrete. The absolute safest bet is to wait until visa is in hand to give any notice to anyone in regards to work, housing etc. as there is always a chance at every step that there may be some delay, even after "passing" the interview. As far as the housing situation goes, it depends on various factors like having a backup plan or someone to stay with in the case that things get delayed. If there's no fall back, it's best to play it safe. It's up to you guys and what you feel is an acceptable risk. I definitely wouldn't do anything until I got my NOA2.

I don’t think they work on Saturday but I think the new system updates late at night, so if something was updated in the new system today, I think they show up early morning which is why we’ve seen “action” on saturdays from people saying they were approved, etc.

Schedules for adjudicators are flexible, and there is overtime work available, but that overtime is used to catch up the backlog and not work new cases.
