jakelake got a reaction from Ineska in I-130 July 2022 Filers for Parent
I have not seen a thread for July 2022 for filing for a parent and have decided to start one.
My wife became a US citizen on June 23, 2022 and filed I-130 for her mother on July 7, 2022. On July 15, 2022, the status changed to Case Is Being Actively Reviewed By USCIS.
    No updates yet.

    Estimated time until case decision:
    6 Months

I guess that you can but I personally would rather leave that to the experts.
If it were something that needed to be done very often, then I would try to do it myself but this is a one time thing. Paying $25 to $50 is miniscule when you compare it to the application fees.

jakelake got a reaction from SalishSea in USCIS "My Case Was Approved" 18 years ago, did't follow up
If you are not yet married, then maybe meeting a US citizen and getting married could be the fastest route.
When I say marriage, I mean a legitimate one where both of you love each other and want to stay with each other.
The time to meet someone, get to know the person, establish a relationship and then getting married should take less than 5 years. That's definitely less than the potential 10-25 years it could take if your father or sibling files for you.

jakelake got a reaction from Boiler in Considering I-134A while waiting for I-130 approval
It goes straight to the USCIS site, which has very vague information.
Anyway, I also considered sponsoring at least a dozen cousins and their kids living in Haiti, Dominican Republic, Chile, Jamaica, etc. Just not enough info to do it. I really do not want to be responsible for everything, including potentially high hospital bills.

My wife filed on 7-7-2022 and on 7-15-2022 it changed to Case Is Being Actively Reviewed By USCIS. It has been like that since.
For most people, that is what happens and it can take 8-12 months before anything changes.

Hopefully the situation in Haiti, particularly in Port-au-prince, is under control by January 1st.

In a perfect world, everyone would have basic human rights and comforts. Unfortunately, we are not living in a perfect world. Yes, God created the earth and people drew the lines. Unfortunately, you have to obey the laws that were drawn by people. You have to obey the laws of the country and its requirements for entry.

There are many people in the US who were born into severe poverty and yes we have a lot corruption in the government.
A small percentage of people in the US are born into privilege. In fact, you can say the same thing about any country in the world where a small percentage of people are born into privilege.
Living in the US is just one option. There are many other countries in the world where the standard of living is much better than that of the US.

Finally, a person born into severe poverty and governmental corruption can actually stay in his or her country to work for change in order to get his or her basic human rights and comforts.

There is a process to everything.
People applying before the time frame  has absolutely nothing to do with the technology.
Just be patient and apply online at your designated time frame and you'll be fine.
    Stop looking for silly excuses.

If you want your documents to potentially get lost and have delays, then file by mail.
However, if you want to be assured that your documents are received, then online is the way to go.
