2k is the amount the government said I must pay, which is 125% above the poverty line. I think everyone that brings in an immigrant agrees to this. Though, the amount is different depending on where you live

Demise, just saw your post (before I replied). Makes sense. Maybe I should call an immigration lawyer.

It sounds like I may be able to count the time I have supported her. We got her a social security number immediately when coming in the US and I put her on my tax returns each year. I am guessing those count.

Well, I wasn't going to talk about this as it is not related to my original question. I live in California, which means anything we acquire after marriage (huge house) she can claim half of. I bought a 2 million dollar home that has over a million in equity. I kept that. I have over a million in my 401k, I kept that. And I have a lot more in cash and investments. I was super luck with my payment.

Again, the 2k a month is in NO WAY related to the large payment. I did have a lawyer, I just never asked my original question. California divorce law and the agreement I made to support her to the Federal government is not connect. The Judge didn't even discuss that.

Sorry I caused a stir. I thought my 1 question would be simple to answer. 😀

I had 1 figure wrong. it's 2k a month, not 4k. I just looked at my pay stub. (first time I checked it after divorce).

So, I must pay her 2k a month just from the Affidavit of Support. I pay zero alimony because we settled on 250k payout. This large payout is in no way related to my monthly support from Affidavit of Support I signed. This was a divorce settlement. This let me keep my home and 401k which is worth waaaaay more than 250k.

Also, no children. And I gave her a Mercedes, which she was using anyway. But I gave it as part of the settlement.

    Boiler,

Not living free through the Divorce agreement. Well sort of. I gave her 250k in cash as a settlement, and 4k a month is mandated from the I-864. I don't pay any monthly alimony.

We had the medical appointment on Tuesday and the interview on Monday. The hospital told us "allow a week to be safe". But they readily admitted that it should only take 2 days, maybe 3. So to answer your question, I don't know EXACTLY. I hope this helps.

It's 1:30 in the morning and my fiancée is in my bed! My joy can't be expressed. She flew in without any problems. I'll have her write a small blurb about POE later, but it was quick and painless at JFK airport in New York. She then flew in to San Francisco and we made it home safely. I'm exstatic!
I realize we need to do AOS after our weeding, which is very soon, but that seems like small potatoes compared to getting the K1 visa. It seems like our "visa journey" is over.

I wish I could edit my original post. Because I can't, I will add some information I posted some where else as this is a more precise description of what happens though the process in the Moscow embassy.
Contrary to popular belief EVERYONE in Moscow goes into AP, though it's usually only for a few minutes. This means 99.9% of people never see or realize they are in this status. However I write software for a living, so I wrote a script (which wasn't easy because of the captcha code) to check the status and create a log with time stamps so I see all changes, even when sleeping.

    So I saw ... IN TRANSIT --> AP --> READY --> AP --> READY --> AP --> ISSUED

The first AP status (before interview) was for a day. The last AP status was just for a few minutes. Also, I called the embassy again today and they told me AP means something is about to change, passport moves from here to there, or something quick. Point is, most people don't ever see the AP status. Also I called the visa printing office in Moscow, they also told me this.

Cali_D got a reaction from millefleur in Russian K1 and possible war in Syria
DISCLAIMER: I am NOT taking a political stance in my statements. I am just giving my opinion based on factual statements given by politicians. I am not saying I support any Politician or Political Party.
My fiancée just got approved this week, from Russia. So I have been following the Russian-Syrian war closely. I have been to Russian several times for several months in 2016, and I feel close to this situation. My opinion is that nothing can change before the US election. Mr. Trump has said he was interested in potentially backing Putin waged his "War on Terrorism" in Syria. He mentioned this in the 3rd and final Presidential debate last week. If this happens, it's my opinion that this will not have a negative effect on the US's relation to Russia, as this favors Russia.
Alternatively Secretary Clinton said in response to Mr. Trumps comments that she would not aid Russia in this war. She did not make it clear that she would back Syria, but she did say she wants to help the refuges in Syria. In which Mr. Trump thought was a bad idea as this could lead to the entry of dangerous people in the US. It is my opinion that this will have a negative effect on the US's relation to Russia, as Putin will see this as aiding Syria. Again .. just my opinion.
Obviously neither of these things can happen before the election in November and inauguration in January. It is also my opinion that we won't see any serious policy changes towards Russia for a long time, the government is notorious for moving slow. I would guess you will be long married before we see any real changes in foreign relations, for better or for worse.
Again, I am NOT supporting or condemning Russia's war against Syria. Just giving my option on the affects the US involvement can have.

We just did this in Moscow. It's different then it used to be. Moscow used to give you the results on the same day. They no longer do this. Medical results takes a couple days to get to the embassy. We purposely put a few days between the medical appointment and the interview because we didn't want to slow things down with a 221g.

I had this discussion someone where else, but it applies to Moscow, so I will post this here in case someone is interested.
About Administrative Processing. Moscow embassy seem to update the satuts of the case a little different. You can track your case here: https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx
Your case number will start with MOS and will be followed by several numbers. You get this case number from NVC.
If your case goes in to goes into AP before the interview, don't be worried, this is normal. Our status went from READY to AP, so I called the embassy and they told me this is normal. READY means you can schedule the Interview. Once you schedule the interview it goes to AP until the Visa is printed, Then it goes back to READY. From there, they mail it and the status goes to ISSUED.
Though, it seems this isn't happening to everyone. This is the process that was explained to us, and is what actually happened to us. Everything changed very quickly, no delays at all so far.
