Does anyone know what will happen if the US does go to war with Russia in Syria? My Fiancés medical check is in Moscow on Monday and this situation has me on edge. As if this process isn't stressful enough, I'm now concerned that the ability for us to get a visa will be yanked due to this situation. We've come so far and the end of the tunnel is in sight...

The United States is not going to go to war against Russia due to Syria.

It takes alot of preparation for a war its not gonna start as we are closing out one presidency and ending the USA with the new prez....I think you are ok.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

The OP's entire question is in the realm of speculation. Nobody can know what will happen in this situation. I think my mentioning of the fact that despite the decline in Russia-US relations, the special 3-year visa regime remains and is still enforced by both countries, it seems to me that visas are not being affected by politics at the current moment. No one can give a straight answer to a question about predicting the future, I was just saying that a war between Russia and the US is highly unlikely, as the other users have already said. I have yet to hear of a Russia person's immigrant (or non-immigrant) visa being denied due to Russia-US political relations.

DISCLAIMER: I am NOT taking a political stance in my statements. I am just giving my opinion based on factual statements given by politicians. I am not saying I support any Politician or Political Party.

My fiancée just got approved this week, from Russia. So I have been following the Russian-Syrian war closely. I have been to Russian several times for several months in 2016, and I feel close to this situation. My opinion is that nothing can change before the US election. Mr. Trump has said he was interested in potentially backing Putin waged his "War on Terrorism" in Syria. He mentioned this in the 3rd and final Presidential debate last week. If this happens, it's my opinion that this will not have a negative effect on the US's relation to Russia, as this favors Russia.

Alternatively Secretary Clinton said in response to Mr. Trumps comments that she would not aid Russia in this war. She did not make it clear that she would back Syria, but she did say she wants to help the refuges in Syria. In which Mr. Trump thought was a bad idea as this could lead to the entry of dangerous people in the US. It is my opinion that this will have a negative effect on the US's relation to Russia, as Putin will see this as aiding Syria. Again .. just my opinion.

Obviously neither of these things can happen before the election in November and inauguration in January. It is also my opinion that we won't see any serious policy changes towards Russia for a long time, the government is notorious for moving slow. I would guess you will be long married before we see any real changes in foreign relations, for better or for worse.

Again, I am NOT supporting or condemning Russia's war against Syria. Just giving my option on the affects the US involvement can have.

Thanks for the input. My fiancé has his interview on Monday. So far so good. I've actually stopped watching the news for a while and it has eased my anxiety. Congrats on the visa!
