You should send more than W2s. I sent tax transcripts, pay stubs, and letter from employer also. Better safe than sorry. A 221g for missing documents can hold up an approval decision.

USCIS do not care how old you look. They will be interested in how old you are.

January? The new fees are effective from December 23, meaning it's already too late to pay the old fee. I'm 99% sure USCIS won't go easy on anyone, they'll reject each and every package that doesn't have the correct new fee if the package was postmarked on the 23rd or later. Just the other day they rejected someone for sending a check that was $7 more than it was supposed to.
I believe they changed all fees on USCIS webpage on the 23rd as well, so they have done everything correct. It's up to the filers to look closely.
