MASH reacted to Imperium in Can changing one's address within the same USCIS field office delay one's US naturalization application?
What matters most is what stage are you at in your naturalization process. CLAIMS4 (formarly RNACS) system is hard coded to delay a notification once SORN system trigers existence of a new event. It is automated as in it reactivates the notification once the event is completed. At this point, it will send notice with new address.

Doesn’t matter.  You are registered. What does the “Date of Registration” say?

Last Action date is for updating your address and if your name changes, your name.

When you filed DS-260 or I-485 you agreed to let the government register you.  It appears that this is what happened.

If you were not a green card holder yet, it sounds like you were not yet in an immigrant status.  Which means you weren’t required to register.  If you were already 26 the day you got your green card it sounds like it doesn’t apply to you.

When my wife received her Certificate of Naturalization, we took it to the Post Office which acts as representatives of the Passport Agency in my city.  I used a Priority Mail package with tracking number so I could confirm it all got to the Passport Office.

I think we got the Certificate back before the Passport, but there was not a significant delay in either case.

Do a photocopy of the Certificate before you send it.  If the original is lost, you can use the photocopy to apply for a replacement.

Well family was allowed but we were not able to see the ceremony, since this ceremony was at a large scale(650 people). It was specifically mentioned on the oath letter that family is NOT allowed.

His ceremony happened at Plano Event Centre and they made all family members sit in various rooms and the main ceremony happened in the hall. We could hear the ceremony but not see. The actual ceremony got over in 15 mins, overall it took around 2.5 hours.

The other thing to consider is that you will have time to grow your relationship while the I129F is being processed.  Most of the questions of a bonafide relationship will come at the consulate stage, so you will be able to include more relationship evidence, possibly more visits, etc., and your relationship will be more than a year old by that time.

    Good Luck!

Also calmly and politely ask them to identify  the staff members on duty , so that you can advise airlines corporate about need for training PLUS innocently ask if DOT is authority such issues should be reported to or if they can provide you with appropriate contact info…..OR any such dialogue you see fit.

I do believe a generous Credit Voucher or possible upgrade is in your IMMEDIATE FUTURE.

Your expired 2 year Green Card plus your valid extension letter should be sufficient to board the plane and enter the US.  You need the expired card AND the extension letter together.

MASH reacted to mgonzalez8988 in Left the country without I-551 stamp on my passport
Yes, my Green Card expired and yes I do have a valid extension letter but they are taking forever, I'm now in my country Guatemala, I was suppose to fly back to USA this morning and the Airport in Guatemala did not allow me to get on the plane because my passport was not stamped.
I left on emergency my mother was very sick, I do currently have an attorney she did not tell me I need it to get my passport stamped she told me the letter would be sufficient.
I could ask my Attorney on Tuesday but I'm really curious what is going to happen now.

Need more info.  Do you have an expired Green card and valid extension letter?  When did you leave the US? Where are you now?
It would help if you had a timeline.

    Hello Everyone!

We filed for my husband on October 25, 2021 online.
    Biometric Email : December 29, 2021
Biometric Scheduled For : January 27, 2022 at San Antonio, TX (We are from Dallas and receipt notice said Dallas, so we were confused why San Antonio)

His Case Status immediately changed to 'Case Is Being Actively Reviewed By USCIS' after the biometrics.

There was no update for months after that.

Somewhere in first half of July his interview got scheduled for August 12, 2022 in Irving, TX. He successfully passed it.
    Questions asked -
    1. In which month do we vote?
    2. Who is the Senator of your state?
    3. Name 3 original colonies.
    4. What does the declaration of Independence mean?
    5.  How can Americans participate in their democracy?
    6. He does not remember the last question.

After 2 days of his interview, his status on uscis changed to Oath Ceremony being scheduled on August 30, 2022.
Oath happened with around 650 people and he received his certificate of naturalization.

By far, this was the easiest process with uscis.

Good luck to everyone! Thanks much for all the help and guidance.

my oath ceremony is now scheduled for 09/20/22 since they don’t allow same day ceremony unless if your over a certain age, disabled or in the military.

either way I am happy I have a ceremony date and that the interview went super smoothly.

MASH reacted to seetsuh in Updated My SSN with SSA and it was simple
The whole process took a week, I first applied for my passport and passport card, I then filled out the SSN application and mailed it off with a letter stating that I am updating my citizenship status and included my passport card as evidence of citizenship. So if anyone is worried about SSA loosing their naturalization certificate, you don't have to mail that, just mail your passport card if you applied for one.

I had to give the USCIS employee my original naturalization certificate to send with the application. She never needed a photocopy of my driver license - she just needed to look at it (the actual drivers license, NOT a copy) to verify my identity before sending off my application.

MASH reacted to Pleasework89 in What to study for the interview
If your English is fluent and not basic, you don't need to worry about the vocabulary list. The interview is done in English. As long as you can understand and answer the questions, you have nothing to worry about. For me, at least, it was almost like a conversation with a stranger. After they asked me all the questions they had, they gave me a piece of paper which had the written portion of the civics test (about 10 questions from the us test). As soon as he saw that I answered enough of the questions correctly he told me to stop writing my answers and approved my petition.

The vocabulary list they give you to download in pdf format on the uscis website is more of a guideline for people who's English is basic. My mom was one of those people who had to memorize those words so that when she had to pass the English part of the interview she could form English sentences. My mother understands English a lot better than she can speak it.
