He and his family have no power over your immigration path unless they have proof that you committed fraud.  You are a legal permanent resident with a 10 year green card....I would just forget about this and seek happiness.

You are over thinking this by an enormous amount.  You are under no obligation to give your ex that information, although, he is just trying to comply with the law.  He MUST submit an I-865.  This will have no effect on your citizenship application.  Why would ICE pick you up???????  Your fear in unfounded.....Seek happiness for yourself and continue to move forward. Good luck.

Utah zoom marriage bypasses all of that. If I didn’t know what I was talking about I wouldn’t. Now, I don’t need to “pretend”. Back in 2020 Utah zoom marriage did not exist unfortunately which made us apply for K1. Good luck in your journey. I’m out

While having a lawyer for our K-1 would have saved us major hassle, it would not have been worth $10K. The VJ guide didn’t warn us about our situation (what to do when the alien doesn’t have a birth certificate) and it would have been worth $2000 to me to have been advised before we let the embassy have a nearly irreplaceable document.

If you have a simple case you won’t need a lawyer for I-129F / K-1.  The problem is people new to the process don’t know what a simple case is.

I will save you $10K and make you a profit by giving my 2 cents of advice. Use the guides and resources here on VJ and DIY.

Majority of the people here (including myself) have successfully completed the K1 themselves with no help for a lawyer or firm. You have already made the first step by discovering this site. All you have to do is read, read, read.

you do not need an attorney
many posts on here report that an attorney's office made mistakes on the petition causing issues
    u need to understand
    1. attorney collects needed documents from the USC ,  copies them , fills out the application (petition)
and mails it (USC does all the work)
    2. attorney can not speed up the process
    3.  attorney can not attend the interview in most countries and if can attend he /she is not allowed to answer any of the CO's questions
    4.  unless stipulated in attorney /USC agreement   ,  they do not answer to any RFE or go to the next step to advise if a visa is denied

go to the guides above and read what is required
    fill out your petition
and save yourself a ton of money

10 K is way too much/ its a normal amount for a work visa done by a company where there is needed a lot of supporting
    but K1 or CR1  10 K is outrageous

MASH reacted to Family in Forgot to include paperwork with I-129F
Now that you have all those documents in hand , prepare a Hail Mary and send it off ASAP.

Write out a “ Supplemental Filing to I-129 F case xyz / Supporting Documentation separated from initial submission in Error “  and mail it out to the address on the Filing Receipt Notice .

Also set up a USCIS online account and if allows you to link the case, upload under additional evidence.

Make sure the Intent to Marry Statement ( keep it simple for each of you) reflects a signature date from BEFORE initial submission a year ago.

Try calling USCIS to find out the exact Service Center where your case is currently and if different than the one on your NOA 1 , also send them a copy.

Definitely worth the effort AND don’t lose hope, excellent chances you will get RFE .

Did you read the instructions for an I-129F? I would expect an immediate denial.  If you are lucky, they will reject the entire petition.  I suggest you read the VJ guide for fiancée visas.

I got my GC through marriage, my naturalization was under 5 years. I still brought everything with me from my 485 and 751 (divorce waiver).

The IO did have my entire a file and could refer to it at anytime so while I didn't need to provide documents per se, but it was good that I prepped to be questioned about dates and all.

Bringing it won't kill you, if it increases your comfort level for the day then go for it. If they don't ask for it then great, if they do then you have it.

You have everything that you would need, most times they don’t ask you to show as it should be already in their system when you filled out the N400 but you can never be to prepared, I wish u luck on your interview  .

If anyone happen to ever had USCIS's legacy account, I suggest they keep it active or restore their access to it and add their N400 case there. I have been testing and noted that alerts of case events appeare to be far more accurate and in real-time. Though it lacks features such as access to PDF notices etc,  its notification capability is phenomenal. Forexample, as soon as I finsihed my interview and finished the checklist of Oath on a tab, I had received an sms that  "We recommended that your Form N400; Application for Naturalization be approved."
I feel like it is better than having to keep refreshing myuscis account.

MASH reacted to CMJuilland in When can I file for citizenship?.
To add to the discussion, I would also wait at least one more day from your earliest filing date as your actual filing date sometimes gets backdated by one day in USCIS’s systems. For instance, I submitted my application for citizenship on 12/29/2020, but at least one document showed “filed on 12/28”. My earliest filing date would have been 12/27, as far as I remember, so waiting two additional days paid off.

LOOK at her current green card - what expiration date does it have? Did she enter the US before or after 2nd marriage anniversary?

If you applied for I-90 when you should’ve done I-751 Removal of Conditions that’s money down the drain - you will not get that money reimbursed.
While at it, complete your timeline.

MASH reacted to Happymallymute in What happens after divorce under a temporary permanent residency?
I went through a dyi divorce and divorce waiver 751.

Nothing happens to your LPR status or card while you're going through the divorce.

If your divorce is finalized before your 90 day window to file before your conditional GC expiration date, that's great. You don't have to wait for the window and you may file at anytime.

If not, you're going to run into some hurdles to produce the final divorce decree within a tight deadline.

Divorcing and marrying someone else before your 2 year conditional period is over may draw some scrutiny to your case, be prepared. Not accusing you of fraud, but that's quite a quick turn around.

MASH reacted to sushiS2 in What happens after divorce under a temporary permanent residency?
    Hello,
I received a 2 year temporary permanent residency/green card back in March this year, and I should file a Form I-751, Petition to Remove the Conditions of Residence, to become a permanent resident in December 2023, but I am planning to file a divorce with a husband that helped me through with that green card journey.
What happens if I file divorce now, although my temporary permanent residency card does not expire until late next year?
and in the meantime, Can I marry someone else and still file the form i-751 before the temporary one expires and still receive a permanent residency card?

    Thank you!

    ***UPDATE***
I have recieved a notification of Oath Ceremony schudule on my USCIS account. The PDF copy also lists that address of the FO as the location of Oath Ceremony. As few people suggested, it appears that this USCIS FO administers Oath onsite.

Thank you everyone for your insight.
