Thank you so much. But i see this google doc os for people who filed on January. Do you know how can I have access to December one ?

    Hi,

Each month has a thread for those who filed within that specific month. You are free to browse other threads but the spreadsheet for December filers will be found in the December 2019 N400 filers thread....in my signature below my post (unless you're on mobile then it doesn't show up... only web browser).

I added you to the spreadsheet for December 2019 filers. 🙂

I had my interview in Des Moines, IA today and I passed. These are the test questions I was asked

    1. What is the economic system of the US?

    2. Which ocean is on the East coast of the US?

    3. What is the current president’s name?

    4. What is one right only for citizens?

    5. Who is your US representative?

    6. When do we celebrate Independence Day?

    My reading/writing portion was:

How many US senators do we have?

    We have 100 senators.

I asked him when he thought the oath ceremony would take place and he told me not to expect it anytime soon, “because we are all getting furloughed”. So that made me sad. I had heard and I told him that I was sorry about that and he thanked me for caring 😭

Congrats on nearing the finish line!!

Don't let the fearmongering put a damper on you. It will happen for you soon 🤞

    Hello,

can someone share the spreadsheet? I can’t find it.
I applied on December 7 and got biometric done on December 13 . Until Saturday the estimate completion time was November 2020 but since Saturday it disappeared and it says we are taking more than normal time ....

my filed office is San Bernardino , CA

I got your message. I'll add you to the spreadsheet.

  4. I am sure if you search the term "refused" in the IR1/CR1 visa forums you are going to find MANY threads where this happened to others. The "refused" status is the updated terminology for Administrative Processing and the fact that they kept her passport is absolutely good news! :D

I can understand the frustration but hang in there...she and your little ones will be with you on US soil soon enough :)

Omg Florida! I am from FL, I thought Florida is not working at all. Thank you. Good luck!

So, I had a very interesting call this morning with an information specialist at USCIS contact center.

I called and after verifying my details I said to the young lady "No disrespect to you but would you mind transferring me to a Tier 2 officer since I have not been receiving real answers regarding my N400 application?"

She was the kindest and most patient person I have encountered at USCIS!

She asked me to allow her to review my case as all agents and officers have access to the same system and she preferred that I did not wait on a callback as I wanted answers as soon as humanly possible. I agreed but was hesitant too since they all start off as helpful but then slide into their robotic script reading 🤨

She took a minute to pull my full file up and after exchanging questions about the lack of updates yada yada yada....she then proceeded to explain when my file was touched and why.

Timeline I was given was as follows:

    - N400 application sent online: Dec 8, 2019

    - Received and reviewed partially only after biometrics was completed: Dec 18, 2019 at NBC

    - Recommended to be queued at my local field office for interview: Jan 6. 2020 at NBC

    - COVID happens, no updates from Jan 6 to July 9, 2020

    - File pulled from interview queue for "additional processing" and review: July 9, 2020 at NBC

    - File returned to interview queue and again recommended to be queued at my local field office for interview: Jul 16. 2020 at NBC

    - File audited for completeness before being sent to field office: July 27, 2020 at NBC

She indicated that the next steps in the above process is usually to get an interview date but she was unable to say when that was going to happen. I was floored when she said "Your file hasn't even left NBC yet. I don't know why the previous agents would hint that it was at your field office." 😕

Either way, now I know :clock:

Her advice when calling them was to ask "Where is my physical file right now?" instead of asking for a Case update since the agents have to remain scripted with the info on the system in front of them for case updates.

However, they can tell you where your actual paper-based printed file is at and that can give you an idea on timeframes, etc.

Also, as a side note, when you move from one state to another, YOU ARE NOT PUT AT THE BACK OF THE LINE. Congrats again to @Roms  🎉

People here will try to discourage you from the K1 visa. Saying "Oh what about the person coming here they won't be able to work" "or just marry them what's the big deal" the big deal is for situations like this. You have to protect yourself at all cost and K1s help with that. Sorry this happened to you but you shouldn't have married until you spent more time with her in your home.

This made me chuckle....thanks for that

Anyone filing to bring an alien to any country to reside legally is never free from risk - emotional, financial or otherwise!

K1, IR1 and the like all carry heavy risks and the burden of proving legitimacy lies with the applicant. Of course, if the IO is not fully convinced then that's another hurdle but there are many factors that play a crucial role in the type of visa chosen.

You truly cannot speak on the merit of the many VJers who are veterans in the process and when members post a question, it is always open for discussion/opinions/advice/theories and varying levels of encouragement or discouragement.

  7. First off, sorry this has happened to you 😕

Second....like others told you - she did it all for the Green Card...yup...the Green Card 🎶

Now that reality has set in for you (hopefully!)....find things that bring you joy and forget her. Situations like this are one of the reasons VJ exists so people can share their experiences.

Best believe that karma always comes full circle so I hope she can handle it when it knocks down her door :pop:

I am VERY happy to tell you guys that I am having my interview on August 10, 2020 in West Palm Beach field office. My original interview date was April 13, 2020 in D.C. office but we moved to Florida in March so I am happy that I didn't lose a lot of time with this changing of field office.

That's great news!!!! Please keep us updated on how it goes for you 😁🤞

answer all calls even if you think the number looks dodgy!

Funny enough, I do and I tell my husband to do the same for calls on his cellphone as well :D

From the moment I pick up and say "hello" and hear "your # has been selected for xyz yada yada..." or "we have been tying to reach you about your car's warranty..." I hang up and hit Block so fast!

  10. Things like this really get me riled up

Saw this on the N400 Facebook group from a member going thru Houston:

Applied US citizenship, had an interview on 24th July-20 but when I reached there they said ur interview has rescheduled. What???They did not give any reason too.It is so frustrating.

I think applicants showing up for their interviews need to record or start recording from the time the security at the door says that the facility is closed or that they have no interview scheduled there, etc. It is so easy for USCIS to say the applicant abandoned their interview! USCIS is not effectively communicating with the field offices so either record the interaction or call USCIS right away!

I have a question, if I go interview and I have something that i am not sure in the application i submit is right or wrong , can i ask the officer on that time interview?  And if i can ask so better i ask first time or when the officer review on that subject. Because i have several question i want to ask.

From my understanding, the IO goes thru the application and confirms all the info when you have your interview.
