    Hey you guys,
Recd the interview letter. Sched for 09/02/21. I have updated the spreadsheet as well. I am applying u/ the 5yr rule and here are some quick questions,

    1. the letter asks me to bring. the GC, Passport and other docs used in connection to enter the US. If memory serves well, all other docs were in a sealed envelope and was takend by the IO at the airport! so what other docs are they talking about.
    2. apart from this do i need to carry original of my tax returns?
    3. what other doc di the 5yr applicatns carry with you that you think I should carry?

Also, if responses would clog the thread, please feel free to slide into my DM lol

    1. If you have anything related to your visa then maybe that. But GC and passport should be good.
    2. I brought everything that I had submitted via their online portal. They didn't actually look at any of it other however they did take a copy of my latest tax transcript since I had applied in 2020 and was interviewed in June 2021. Basically anything that has changed since you submitted your application. For example: If you have had a traffic ticket and paid the fine, bring that.
    3. If there is something that you didn't submit via the online portal, bring that (taxes, travel evidence)

Some folks brought nothing. Good luck

People are new to this entire immigration fiasco, and know how stupidly pedantic US Customs & Border Patrol can be about even the smallest of things. It's a legitimate concern, even though it's not exactly the largest problem they could have.

YOU know it's not a big deal; they don't. Please don't be dismissive.

Hey guys just giving you a quick update on my case. I'm so happy i finally got scheduled for my interview. Just waiting on the date now. Hopefully it will be before the end of the month. But i'm thinking it might be for november.

My N400 INA 319(b) Case Updates:

Sept 4 - I sent in my N400 under INA 319(b) Package to the Chicago Military Address via UPS.

Sept 5 - The N400 under INA 319(b) Packet arrived but the Chicago office was closed so UPS had to redeliver.

Sept 8 - UPS redelivered my N400 under INA 319(b) after the holiday and was signed for by the USCIS officer by 7:28am.

Sept 16 - The USCIS deposited my Chase Bank Cashier's check and then sent me a NOA 1 (Notice of Action 1 in my mail/address)

Sept 18 - The USCIS sent me a text message with the case number receipt (Friday night).

Sept 21 - I called the military hotline to expedite my case (Monday morning).

Sept 22 - The USCIS gave me a receipt for my expedite in my e-mail. That afternoon I also sent an e-mail request for expedite for extra measure. They approved my expedite that afternoon even before I sent my e-mail since i wasn't sure they accepted my expedite request and just sent me a receipt. But when I called to ask, the USCIS officer said it was already approved.

Sept 23 - I got my hard copy NOA 1 in my mail.

Sept 24 - The USCIS scheduled my biometrics appointment.

Sept 25 - I got the softcopy biometrics appointment letter in my documents page in my uscis account/website. My biometrics appointment is scheduled for Oct 13, 2020.

Sept 28 - I walked in my local USCIS ASC office and finished my biometrics. As soon as I walked out of the USCIS ASC door, my status changed to the USCIS is actively reviewing my case and that they reviewed my biometrics.

Oct 2 - I got the hard copy biometrics appointment letter.

Oct 5 - I called USCIS to ask if my case files are at my local USCIS office or if it was still in the NBC (National Benefits Center). They told me that its been in the local USCIS field office already. I asked an estimated date on when my interview might be (so I can fix my schedule based on that interview date) and the USCIS officer said that she had no idea and cannot tell. It depends on when my biometrics will clear and when my local USCIS local field office might schedule it.

Oct 6 - My status changed on both USCIS websites that my interview was scheduled. The USCIS sent me a Interview Letter in my mail/address.

Not sure if it is true. It’s said: “This does not include living in the United States as a lawful nonimmigrant”. H1B is a non-immigrant visa, as far as I am concerned.

You're making a mountain out of an anthill....just take the simple definition. Have you guys had sex after marriage? That's all USCIS may need. Don't make it difficult for yourself by asking what it means legally, religiously, economically etc....😄😄😄

TomEn got a reaction from Aeiou1357 in Marriage Name or Maiden Name
    Hi LittleMsFighter,
The marriage license will be issued in your maiden name and if you go back to the courthouse they cannot issue another in your married name. That license is to show that you (in your maiden name of sound mind) married your fiance) So dont worry about that.
    Now to answer your question
Do I have to go back to the courthouse to apply for a new Marriage record that states my new name? - No you dont have to do that Can i just use my Husband's Last Name for the forms even if I don't have a legal document with my new name? - Yes just fill the forms with Your First Name and your Husbands Last Name if that's how you want to do it Should i just use my maiden name in applying for AOS, EAD and AP? - You can, but if you want to change your name to your husband's last name, then you have to do it on all of these three forms and once you receive the GC or EAD/AP combo card, you have to go into the social security administration office and have it changed again. These forms are the best and free way to legally change your name to your married name. So make use of it
To make things simple. Follow this on all your forms.
If your name is Jane Austin and your husband is John Smith and you wish to take his last name then fill the forms like this
First Name: Jane Last Name: Smith Other Name's Used: Jane Austin
This will keep the HS and USCIS informed about your legal name change. Also attach a certified copy of your marriage certificate in the I-485 packet. When you go in for your bio-metric, carry the original marriage certificate.
PS: its not a problem to use a different email or home address, but make sure that you can receive notifications on your email and homes address i.e. make sure they are valid.
    Hope this helps.
    Good Luck

If your creditors include the IRS, possibly, because the application form asks about overdue taxes. Otherwise no.

According to this post, he wants a divorce from his wife and go back to India. So it does raise one's suspicion as to why this current post? ( I'm thinking it's time to throw a pity party)
In his first post he wanted a divorce and go back to India while this current post talks about getting an ROC and how to gather evidence!
Does anyone think troll, pity party or should we just believe that it's time we heard the other side of the story???
I'm getting the popcorn and will wait for his wife to log into this account...
Damn, I should become a Private Investigator!!!

    Hi guys,

completed my interview yesterday. it went well. the officer spoke to me for an hour. it was just a general discussion and she just let me do most of the talking and gave me life and survival tips! in the end she said I am approved and saw me out of their inner chambers!

there were no specific questions that were asked, it was more of a concversation. she was very kind and understanding and did not do or say anything that would let my anxiety go up. She also discussed in detail about her dogs, her son and a funeral that she recently attended. Probably she was very nive because I prayed to my husband the previous night and that morning before i went in for the int.

things went well and was told that i should rec the card in 3-4 weeks.

Thanks you all for your positive thoughts and vibes.

I would suggest bringing originals of any documents you submitted with your i-751 incase asked to be seen by the IO (as well as your own passport of course) just to play it safe.

Even if we said "no" you'd still worry and keep that fabulous figure of yours

    Dear Vj members and moderators,

Hope y'all are doing well and I would like to first thank y'all for all the info and support that you provide here. Today, I received a mail which stated my N-400 has been officially withdrawn and I also received a  call-in letter, asking me to appear for the I-751 interview. It specifically mentions an officer that I have to meet and in the bring with you column I am asked to bring my husband's passport and his death certificate. My questions are,

    1. Do they usually mention the name of the interviewing officer in the letter?
    2. Do i need to take any other documents apart from the two that they have mentioned?
    3. Do i need to be worried about anything? (yes I naturally worry about everything and that's how I maintain a slim figure )

    Thanks in advance,

    Enoch Mudd.
