It sucked. We were super lucky to be able to visit regularly pre-covid so being apart for a year was rubbish and we missed eachother a lot.
But then, everything was rubbish, 2020 just utterly sucked.

Well that explains. If you traveled more and ingested less far right propaganda you would know that american parties are right wing (as in objectively right to the world average, and right of the right wing parties in most first world countries) and that police brutality is not excused in most first world countries.
Anyways, i need to stop reading this subforum, its just not good for me.

Bug&Bug got a reaction from beloved_dingo in Not enough people to fill jobs
Well im all up for people not having to work in badly paid jobs during a dangerous pandemic.
While the issue is way more complex and has to do with the economic crisis that half of the world us going to go through in the next several years, Im glad if people are staying safe at home or getting better paid elsewere. That is good for everyone.
(The "people are lazy" argument is so ridiculous and predictable though)

Way better they raise corporate taxes and not peoples income taxes though. I would very much prefer Bezos and co start paying a fair share to help get out of the whole, and not us the unlucky shmucks that are allways paying while trying to make a living.

Well job searching has been rough. I am so happy I finally got an offer.
If this is of any use to others:
- I found writing a resume very difficult, people here gave me loads of good advice and it still took me like 3 months to get something acceptable. I eventually started using Resume Worded and it was so bloody useful I paid for the subscription. Its an AI that gives you tips on your resume and the premium option helps you tailor it to job postings. Also used Canva (free) to give it a sleek design ( something I had never bothered doing with my european CV since im not in artsy career paths).
- US experience seems to matter a lot. I have got SO many rejections for jobs Im totally qualified for because " we want someone with local experience" or " you dont have US experience" or " how can we be sure you are here to stay". Its depressing.
- On the other hand, I found there was a lot of openings at least where i live, much more that when i was job searching in london years ago, so every day i was sending out 2-3 applications on average.
- The vacation is brutal. Like 2-3 weeks per year is considered normal. This was quite a reality check, but it is what it is. Seems unpaid leave is not too frowned upon so im going with that.

Well, I personally dont see the problem. Is not like the usa hasnt pulled out of treaties before.

Well I dont know what your opinion is because all you do is go off topic bickering about any sentence I say.
First time you actually provide an on topic opinion with some substance. Reducing foreign aid, there you go. And you still had to get your knickers in a twist for that.
Honestly, it sounds like some of you here are just trying to find reasons to cry BuT wHaTaBoUt BiDeN and that is actually the purpose of this subforum instead of actually discussing a topic and exchanging ideas in any meaningful way. Naive of me.

I dont understand why your answer to everything is just automatic whataboutism.
So what?

I see, thanks for explaining.
I think we agree mostly then, just not fully.
I think the western countries mismanaged the pandemic, ignoring it until it was too late, opening up to soon, having a terrible preparedness plan, no attempts to supressing the virus, etc. I dont think they fabricated the crisis, they just did a very [removed] job to mitigate it, making it a very long problem we are still in the middle of. And therefore a consequence of that is long economic crisis.
Personally I would like to see spending cuts in military, a crackdown on the medical lobbies and on student debt so people are not crippled with stupid dept and money is injected into the economy. I also think social programs and unemployement are more needed that ever otherwise that will only create more recession at a fragile time.
But there really is not a good way forward. We are going to be in a hole for several years no matter what.
(Im not an economist so i might be totally wrong. This is just my view after a couple big economic crisises and recessions. )

Im sorry this is absolute nonsense.
Hospitals have been with no capacity. People have died because there was no capacity in hospitals. Millions have died and are still diying.
The world had to literally stop because hospitals were full. Which means economic crisis, inflation, etc.
-
Bug&Bug got a reaction from laylalex in US Goods Inflation
Yes of course but only partially. Part gets filtered to the consumer, part on the corporation profits.
The reality is that there has been a huge (not well managed in many countries) worldwide crisis, therefore huge deficit, therefore taxes are going to increase like it or not. Corporate tax increases mean corporations will bear at least part of the burden, not 100% the consumer.

Oh, you must be unaware that there has been a 1 in a 100 year pandemic going on for the last year.
-
Bug&Bug got a reaction from Steeleballz in US Goods Inflation
I have honestly no idea what you are arguing about then.
I said the economic crisis and tax increase is inevitable because of the pandemic. Thats it.
What that has to do with governments fabricating crisis, the AIDS epidemic or fiscal sanity I dont grasp.

Oh yeah defenetly. You can do all of these things in parallel, no need to pick and choose: higher corporate tax, higher marginal tax in the higher bands, crack down on evasion and remove tax caps for corporations and high earners ( why is that even a thing?).
And relief at the lower levels for small businesses and low earners to keep the economy moving and not have it all stuck and hoarded by the 1%.

Gah whats up with all these manchildren?
Julia moved continents, but for baby Brandon its impossible to even consider moving city nevermind moving from mommy's house. The way he shut her down was so infuriating.
And then Mike running away from the hotel the minute Natalie called him out? Acting like he is the victim? What a coward baby.
