Does name change at N400 interview causes delay?
Dashinka replied to stech786's topic in US Citizenship General Discussion
Just adding - in front of a Federal Judge. That may be a stretch, but who knows. At the oath it usually takes between 2-3 hours. About an hour to check everyone in, and depending on the amount of people naturalizing and how long the judge or facilitator talks another 1-1.5 hours to do the oath and pass out the naturalization certificates. Good Luck! -
Does name change at N400 interview causes delay?
Dashinka replied to stech786's topic in US Citizenship General Discussion
I agree, it could in some circumstances. For instance if you naturalize at a USCIS office that regularly conducts administrative oath ceremonies, those with a name change will need to wait for a judicial oath. Some offices only do judicial oaths, so there would be no delay. As an example, my cousins recently naturalized through the Detroit office with a name change, application late (Nov/Dec) 2023, oath Feb. 22, 2024. That being said, if you desire a name change, doing it through the N400 is a good option. Good Luck! -
A little confusing, are you asking if a query of your B2 history will impact an upcoming application? Assuming so, I don't think so. Good Luck!

You can, or your spouse can take it with them to the interview. Only include your spouse's income if it will continue after she immigrates to the US. An I864A does not seem warranted in this case, but consulates have been known to request them at the interview. You may want to have one filled out for her to take to the interview just in case. The instructions from the consulate seem confusing. With any IR visa application, and I864 is required and all dependents (with a few rare exceptions) regardless of citizenship need to be counted on the I864. Here are a couple of relatively recent threads regarding DCF in Japan that may be helpful as a sort of guide. Good Luck!

Also, "refused" does not mean "denied". A few years ago for some reason the consulates started using the term "refused" instead of "administrative processing" to indicate a visa has not been "issued" yet, but is still under consideration. It took you a couple of months to get the documents you should have already had, it may take a consulate some time to process and verify them before they can make a final decision on the visa. Good Luck!

Help! N-400 PDF glitch in newest version! What to do!?
Dashinka replied to dave2's topic in US Citizenship General Discussion
It appears so. So AR will not allow you to switch the answer in Part 10? Also keep in mind the IO will review the N400 with you at the interview, so any glitches can be corrected at that time. It is also an opportunity to inform USCIS of their issues. IMO most people are doing the online filing, but it is a personal choice. Shouldn't as processing timing is based on your local office. To the best of my knowledge, paper forms are scanned so by hand or using AR should not impact processing. No impact. Good Luck! -
N400 Part 9 Question 16. Is it mandatory to answer?
Dashinka replied to dave2's topic in US Citizenship General Discussion
Yes, reading questions 15 (both parts), and 16, you are right, question 16 appears not applicable if the answer is No to both parts of 15. I would leave 16 blank. The IO at the interview will review the entire form with you, and if there are any questions at that point you can clarify. It would be interesting to see if doing this online if question 16 even comes up if the answers to 15 is No. Good Luck! -

Is the foreign husband currently in the US? I assume that is what you mean. If so, follow this guide. Good Luck! -

Hmm, real, or just following the crowd? Cosplaying Student Activists, Including Feminists, Seem to Be Converting to Islam Dr Jordan B Peterson @jordanbpeterson · Follow I predicted exactly this all the way back in 2016 and paid a reputational price for it, commenting on the insane and incomprehensible alliance between "feminists" (those resentful harpies) and Islamic fundamentalists. Mom is ph citizen with a green card
Dashinka replied to Pauie18's topic in Working & Traveling During US Immigration
Yes, just get a ticket and have her come back. Again, as others have said, she should not agree to sign an I407 or give up her GC. If you are quite worried, maybe look at coming across a land border. Good Luck! -

I agree although I do know where my card is that I got some 45 years ago. It is amazing how my signature has changed over the years. -

No, you should be fine with just the number for the I485. He probably should apply for a replacement card at some point though. Good Luck! -
Daily Update on Biden Tanking America (Part 2)
Dashinka replied to TBoneTX's topic in Current Events and Hot Social Topics
Good to know how well Old Corrupt Petulant Joe can pick his leading advisors. Btw, it is best to watch the interview as it is quite telling. Joe Biden's Economic Advisor Has No Idea How 'Bidenomics' Work “Well, um, the uh … so the … I mean, again, some of this stuff gets — some of the … language that — some of the language and concepts are just confusing. I mean, the government definitely prints money and it definitely lends that money, which is why … um … the government definitely prints money and then it lends that money by, uh, by selling bonds. Is that what they do? … They, they uh … they, yeah, they um … they sell bonds … yeah, they sell bonds. Right? Since they sell bonds and then people buy the bonds and lend them the money. “Yeah, I mean I can’t really talk about it. I don’t get it. I don’t know what they’re talking about because it’s like, the government clearly prints money. It does it all the time, and it clearly borrows. Otherwise we wouldn’t be having this debt and deficit conversation. So, I don’t think there’s anything confusing there.” Via @RnaudBertrand https://townhall.com/tipsheet/saraharnold/2024/05/04/bidens-economic-advisor-has-no-idea-how-bidenomics-work-n2638629 -

There are a lot of stories of LPRs coming back after extended absences. She has a valid GC so she should be able to board a flight to the U.S. She may face scrutiny at CBP, but a CBP officer cannot take away her LPR status. If you are concerned about getting in, I would plan to accompany her at least on the flight that enters the U.S., but otherwise, buy a ticket and have her come back. Good Luck! -
Can a friend come with me to N400 interview?
Dashinka replied to EMBELL_17's topic in US Citizenship General Discussion
They may be able to wait in the waiting area for you, depends on the office, but they cannot attend the actual interview with you. Good Luck! -

But you have a GC which will allow you back into the US.
