N and J reacted to onetothered in Awaiting receipt email/text ... Week 5/6
hello
people filling in early April are waiting for their NOA2! i think it is very strange you did not get your acceptance notification yet (more then a month seems too much)
if you filed the G-1145 you should have the text or email notification .. even though after a month you should have your hard copy by mail already!
confirm with your mailing if it was delivered and you have to call to check what is wrong
PS: i saw somewhere that USCIS have 30 day time frame to send the first notification....if you mailed it on the 9th april...you passed their time frame and you have to call Monday !!
hope you hear good news !!

A stepparent has no legal binding ties to a child unless they adopt that child. I am the child of a stepparent and every thing he did and gave me was out of the goodness of his heart. When my mom looked into having me adopted by him after my father died the judge explained what his rights were as a stepparent and as a parent. He did NOT have to pay child support if my mom and stepdad decided to divorce. The child is not legally the stepparents responsibility.

If you can't work and support yourself and your son what are you planning on doing? Who do you plan on having support you?
If all you have in the US is yourself and your son....why wouldn't you want to stay in the Philipines?
You said he wants sex every day all day more and more....doesn't he work?
Why would you even entertain the thought of coming back to the US with someone like that...if that is how he is? Do you have family in the Philipines? If so divorce him and stay in your country.

From what I understand by her reaching out to websites for help she is not looking to surrender her green card but looking for someone to help her start a life over in the US. i don't think she plans on staying in the Philipines.

N and J reacted to arken in How can i move to usa as an internet enterpeneur?
I don't see why suggesting the paths of immigration is a problem here. Nobody is suggesting OP to go through fraud marriage/engagement to immigrate. Based on what the OP is saying, immigrating via family based petition (fiance or spouse or as suggested by other posters) or DV seemed to be the only plausible thing. Employment based or investment based immigration seems highly unlikely.
-
N and J reacted to JFH in How can i move to usa as an internet enterpeneur?
Agree with MorganandMichael. The OP is 21 and has years and years ahead of him. A 7 or 10-year wait for a family-based visa is not the end of the world at that age.
-
N and J reacted to SunflowerSweet in How can i move to usa as an internet enterpeneur?
OP didn't give us a specific timeline, he/she simply said he wanted to come to the U.S.
Waiting around for the DV lottery could take just as long if not longer if he/she is unlucky.
Investment visas cost a lot of money, so unless OP has it on hand it would take time to save up.
Also, as you mentioned, the field OP is in is unlikely to provide him a path to an employment based visa.
I'm not really seeing your reasoning for thinking that asking about possible family ties isn't a feasible option.

N and J reacted to B&Z in How can i move to usa as an internet enterpeneur?
Reason why I asked: Depending on the relative, they could possibly petition for him.

N and J reacted to Boiler in How can i move to usa as an internet enterpeneur?
We are asking because based on the OP's post that was the area of likely success.

Put yourself in the CO's shoes and you will get the answer. You wouldn't give visa to a guy, claiming he fell in love with a man, older than his father, during first meeting of a day or two.Your petition might get approve but there is no way you can get through the Interview with 5 pics and chat records and only one meeting.Looks like you are more worried about getting to the USA than your relationship.

Excuse me if my suggestion make you feel bad or being impolite to you guy. Example, if your k1 visa goes very smoothly and you get in the US , are you sure that you can be happy with him? Me and my boyfriend have been together almost 2 years before we decided to apply for the K1 because we have a lot of challenges and the things to work out together. I wonder how you can be in love with a man who were shopping a boyfriend like the food ? Honestly , it's a kind of pressure on you since he told you guy that he'd would picked you up if you made he fall in love. You guy look young and cute and you you have so many opportunities to chose the right one in your life. 44 years differences are a lot man. i hope you forgive me if I say something to hurt your feeling dear?
-
N and J reacted to Harpa Timsah in Next step
He was shopping for a boyfriend. He contacted a number of guys and then met each for a day and picked one. That is okay with you? Your relationship is not developed at all. One day together and you decided to marry? And presumably after he met you he went and met someone else. It seems like you are not taking marriage seriously. Why don't you slow down and get to know each other more now that you are exclusive? And spend a LOT more time in person together. You haven't even had time to fight and see if you can make it through.
If you already started the visa process, I don't think it has a high chance of being approved at this point.

If you're not certain of one another and, as you keep saying, not in a rush then why are you filing so soon? Take some time and get to know one another in person. What on Earth would you do if you rushed in to a marriage with someone you barely know, move to a country where you only know that one person and rely on them for literally everything and turned out you were two totally different kettles of fish and couldn't stand one another? Surely it would be better for you both to take the time, take a vacation together, live under the same roof for a couple weeks a few times a year or so and see if it really does feel right. You'll know as soon as he starts picking his nose or you put the loo roll on the wrong way. Little niggly things matter as much as the bigger things and they usually present themselves after longer periods of time spent together when you're genuinely relaxed around each other.
Just a thought.

Don't think he was asking for sympathy...I think he was looking for advice. I would be worried too if I didn't know the rules and regulations in a country and someone started telling me I was going to pay alimony. I am going to go out on a limb here and say he probably does not have a job that he could even afford to put a roof over his own head let alone pay for another to survive. When do you want him to start documenting things? Do you document things in your relationship now fights, problems, and what not JUST IN CASE? No normally people start documenting when things go wrong. Some people would rather not sit in an unhappy and unhealthy relationship and would rather divorce. Not sure why he even still talks to her but...

I would get off visa journey and start looking for a divorce attorney.

You are right. There are. But if this is really the case for her she can come back to the states and seek legal advice. If she is being abused in any way shape or form she can go to a domestic violence shelter. By all means I am not saying that a man or a woman is not capable of being a sex addict but sometimes we turn a blind eye to things that are there when we first meet. Signs that have been there from the start. I am saying on both ends not just hers. Also, if life is not that great where she was (not saying this is the case) some people will take abuse rather than live in a not so healthy place hoping when they get here life will be better. Legal services in her will provide her with an attorney. She has no income so it will be free. She has a huge burden of proof though. These are not little accusations against someone.

N and J got a reaction from FxL in i need some help!
I am just wondering....just let's say not everyone that comes on here is truthful. Maybe she heard of a story where women were being abused and maybe she really is. Maybe she Googled how to get out of a marriage when you aren't happy (not saying she did)...Maybe he isn't what she thought and she thought life was going to be a bed of roses when she got here (again not saying she does) Just saying to make the accusation that this guy is truly abusive without knowing the whole story....well is kind of unfair. You said she should come back if she can....well who will support her because OP already stated at the start of this she could not get a job and support herself and her son here. So who will take her on? Taxpayers? Are you going to support her? Why would she not stay where she has some kind of help from her family? Why would you want to come back here where it could possibly be harder to survive than back in her own country. Sure if she can support herself and not become the taxpayers problem that is great and you are right she should come here if it is a better life....But I don't put 100% in everyone that gets on here and screams abuse by their spouse whether it be the USC or the foreign spouse. People know that is a great way to gain sympathy on both sides. If he is like that well then he is just a sick person. I do agree that many times people bring someone from another country here and expect them to be their slave. It isn't right....But there are 2 sides to every story. If he couldn't stand her so much why did he go back to the Philipines with her?

The child is not his, she has been married a few months, and some people think ker ching!
-
N and J reacted to NikLR in i need some help!
The kid isnt his. Says in the first post he came on a K2. And the AOS is to repay the government if the beneficiary uses means tested benefits, not to support them financially; although maybe a few people have won that argument in court. Lawyers cost money and this poor lady doesnt have a job.

Stay in your country and raise some money if you want to come back to the states. You are unemployed and will need money to continue your immigration process. It won't be easy. I don't know if you have any bona marriage evidence in your possession to help you with ROC. It is in your interest to stay in your country for now. You can't force your husband to financially support you and your son.
-
N and J reacted to FxL in i need some help!
These are the types of things that make me go crazy (as I'm still waiting for my husband) and these are far too common! People marry and then when they arrive in the States, they realize they don't like their spouse. Their most concern is about their green card than their marriage.
Take care of your son. I understand his opportunities in the Philippines are limited but if you raise him right you never know.
