Hi everyone,

I have posted here before about my problems with my USC wife,I arrived the US in January 2015 on CR1 visa, later we started to have problems and she left her job because of her mental condition she says shes having anxiety and depression and she does since teenage and she is on pills for that.

Yesterday I was talking on the phone with my father's wife about something related to my father and she asked who am I talking to i told her who, then she accused me that i am cheating on her because she cant understand Arabic and we got in argument which ended by her punching me on my chest, in prior incidents she scratched me but i thought she didnt mean to till last night. Today she went to the court and filed for divorce because i am cheating, all that because i was talking to my father's wife which my wife doesnt want to believe. My wife threatend me to get alimony from me because shes not working. Can she do that?

I told her that i will tell the police that she punched me last night and she said you dont have any proof, i said did you hit me or not? she said no i didnt, prove it if you can.

What can I do? Do i report to the police just to keep a claim that she punched me? This woman is really having serious issues and I dont want to be affected by it in an unfair way.

File a police report ASAP and just as quickly get a divorce lawyer. Seriously, get off the computer and file a report. I have heard the "you can't prove I hit you" defense a thousand times and too many of those times I've seen it followed by a false police report that you hit her. Now go!

I agree with Harpa Timsah,

looks like you are only going to file because she has file for divorce and you are trying to safe yourself.

However, that is not to say it didn't happen. But your actions and the timing counts and they appear suspicious. You might be paying her alimony!!

it's not going to be easy since she already has a head start. As for the abuse, it is your word against hers and your motive will be scrutinized if it comes to it.

I'll say,get it and move on since has already started it.

Well, if she called at the time of the incident, it hold more weight as opposed to she making those allegations when say , you rather filed for the divorce.

You and Harpah have a good point! The timing will seem off. Seems like lawyering up is the best option now.

Generally people call the police for abuse when they are scared and need protection immediately. You appear to be doing it because you are mad she filed for divorce. What do you want to gain? Clear your name? You can't stop her from divorcing you so it seems like the time to lawyer up and proceed with that.

I didnt feel scared, but that doesnt make it OK to be punched! I wont punch her back but I will tell the police. The reason I didnt call the police that night because her kids were home and I didnt want them to see the police coming to their mother. I am not mad about the divorce because she has been talking about it a lot lately so I am expecting it.

She can't get alimony you've only been married since 2015. You have to be married for a lengthy period of time before a spouse can collect alimony.

Actually we are married since 2014 but i dont think that makes a difference. She has not been working since summer of 2015 and I am paying all the bills and she still acuses me of all type of things.

Still not enough time. Divorce, get attorney and move on. Sorry you are going through this. Good luck.

UPDATE: So I went to the police station and I filled a report and a police officer talked to me about what happened. I came back home and I found that she changed the Wifi password so I asked her whats the password she said she wont give it to me, I said give it to me or you will be see a surprise, and I meant by that I can call the internet company and ask them to reset the router. So she calls the police right away and tells them that she is feels afraid to be in the house with me, so in 2 minutes there is two police cars outside the house and one of them is the police officer who talked to me in the station, they asked me if I have any family or friends to go to tonight I said no so he said she wants to go to her grandmother house i said ok if thats what she wants, the officer said she is outside now she will walk in to get her stuff and we will make sure you wont assault her or something, i said i wont, i never did. He said you stay here and another cop stayed with me so I wont do anything, which i wont anyway.

????? I dont know what to do.
