Yes I called the police when she kicked me out and changed the locks. It was night time  when she did that and when the police came,he asked me if I have anywhere to sleep for the night and then  come back later during the day for my stuffs and he asked me call them again when I am back for my things. My friend whom I am living with right now were at work then as he work third shift so I went to 24 hours Walmart parking lot and slept in my car till the morning. When my friend got home,he called me and I again called the police and they led me to get my stuffs outside. Police did not take any note during that time but I believe they will have a record in the downtown police department. I really thank each and every one for the help.I got the P.O.Box address as suggested.. Thank alot

I filed my N-400 on a 3 year basis ie. 3 years married to US Citizen with 3 years residency. I filed online. You are correct you can start your application 3 months ahead of your 3 months residency/ marriage. You need to prepare the documents such as your Green Card, Marriage Contract, Birth Certificate of your husband, 3 years tax transcript from IRS, if you have child/ children you need to attach their birth certificate, bank statement, life insurance. For me it is convenient to apply on line. You can review again and again  before you submit it. You can pay online too using your credit/ debit card. I submit my application last June 29, 2018 Friday night and Monday I have notification that they received my application. Monday also I have notification for my Biometric appointment on July 16. Today I received from the mail the copies of these 2 Notifications.

As far I as know, her US passport is a more powerful prof off citizenship, I would apply for a new passport, and passport card, l it ease to carry on the wallet, and keep the court name change and certificate on a safe.

I don't agree with getting a new certificate. You have the name change court order. With that and the naturalization certificate your wife gets a US passport and/or passport card with her new name. Which is also proof of citizenship. As you said just keep the documents together and you'll be fine. You'll only need the naturalization certificate once and that's when you get your passport.

    Congratulations on your wife's naturalization.

That just blew my mind a little LOL That's amazing! I never thought of that, though; it does vary more specifically based on where you are located/where your local office is.

We aren't as small as Vermont, but I'm hoping there aren't many other South Carolina applicants I think there is an office in Charleston and one in Raleigh, and we're kind of right smack in the middle of them both (our town is right at the NC/SC border). Raleigh is a much larger city, and probably takes in more surrounding towns than Charleston would. We're crossing our fingers for Charleston.

Shall I get us back on topic here? Might be an idea.

I filed my application on April 14th, did my biometrics in May, my interview was two Fridays ago, and my naturalization oath is set for August 7th. I'm in Vermont so I'm guessing it's less busy than most though.

I was giving feedback. As I said..and will sat it again, yes left wing rag. All that article does is criticize the current president in my view. Yes they are delays. NYC is not up to 7 months (at least for ours on the DHS website). No it is not Trump's fault.

If you are against Trump this is what you will believe. Trump has nothing to do with people who wants to Naturalize. He is against illegal immigrants especially to criminal illegal immigrants. For me I don't have to worry I can wait patiently when will my application be approved. For us legal migrants who spent too much to process our applications and waiting for to be approved. We should support Trump and let illegal immigrants to stop in US.

Hello everyone my story is long but I hope u will take ur time to read it and give me appropriate suggestions. I came here on K-1 visa. Married before my 90 days. Got my conditional Green card in March 2014 and I have some few concerns and anyone with good advice will be highly appreciated.. My wife kicked me out on 2nd July 2018 and that was our 5 years of marriage. The last one year in the marriage was really a hectic for me. She called police like 5 or 6 time on me but anytime the police come in and hear the 2 side, they kept on asking her that, she is wrong and they can't do anything for me just because I was asking her to pay bills especially car insurance, Duke energy,Water and cable anytime the money was given to her for those things. I remembered she got mad one time with one of the police officers that they always on my side whenever she called them. And that she gonna sue them but I really don't know how it ended up and since then she don't called police again till this time.  We are living in her mother's house and all the bills are in her late sisters name. Anytime I asked her to change the bills in our name, she will refused and finally she took her mother to a nursing home. That broke my heart so badly. 2nd July will be our 5 years of marriage.Though we  have been having marital problem as each couple do at times, the whole thing is that, most of the arguments happen when it's time for bill payments. Anytime my direct deposit goes into our joint account, she will withdraw the cash and then overdraft the account again. She work but her money dont go into our joint account. So sad. Now we jointly filed the remover of condition and that petition has been pending with the USCIS for over two years now. So many info pass appointments but nothing came up. The only answer to me is wait and that ur case is still pending. My case was file since February 16 ,2016, we went to the interview October 12 2017 and after the interview, the officer said we were approved and that the green card will be in the mail within weeks, still no card. I called many times but the same issue (pending) and I went there again in  April 2018 and that was 6 months after the interview to really know what's really going on and they again stamped my passport for the second time with I-551 and said my case is pending..I contacted a lawyer and he said the only thing I can do is to file citizenship now. And that will make them to make a decision on my case but he said he will suggest for me not to change my address now. Now my question is,if I don't change my address and a letter from the USCIS came and she refused to give it to me, what can I do? I called the police  to come to witness what she did by putting my things out and changing the locks. One of the police officers advice me that,I should just leave if not she can falsely accuse me of something that I didn't do like domestic voilence and that will be worse scenario for me . What really can I do now?? I need help please. Thank u all

I'm sorry to see you were denied. I think your K-1 id dead.  I would advise you to go there, marry her, and file a CR-1.  That process takes 12-15 months from filing to visa in hand. Good Luck..

I just read somewhere where you can go to the embassy to ask for a review of your case by the embassy's consulate general or a supervisory officer.   Has anyone ever had any luck with that? or wasting my time?

I got my US passport today. My long journey finally got to the end.
It has been 12 months long. I have moved from one location to another so the process took longer due to that.
I have some tips to share based on my experience. someone may need it if they feel they are stuck.
    1. file online if you can. it seems the system has more transparency regarding the status if you do so.
    2. don't do info pass, especially your office is chicago. They won't tell you more than you can see from the system.
    3. If the officer from your local office give good info from info pass appointment, try to go there early even though it is earlier than you appointment time. it seems they serve first comer.
    4. when you call the 800 number, ask directly to speak to tier 2. there was only one time the tier 1 told me more info than reading out of the screen. when you ask to speak to tier 2, make sure you are persistent and don't give so much detail to tier 1. the more detail you give, they may not even transfer you. I remember I asked tier one about my oath date and location after the status online said it was scheduled. First tier1 refused to tell me and refused to transfer me. So I called back and talked to another tier1 and told her that I didn't believe they could help me and would like to talk to tier2. I got my oath date and location right then. It was only 1 week away. If I gave up the first try, I may not be able to make it.
    5. use congressman. I contacted two senates and one district rep. District rep seems get back to me faster. However, each office can do inquiry once a month. So I contact all the congressman. It really doesn't hurt to have all of them follow up with your case. It really seems things move much faster after the case got congressional attention. Usually USCIS give more detail info than what you get from info pass.
6.I am a nurse. when I went for my interview, I took my work badge with me. the officer made a copy of my badge. it seems that helps to show your good morality? I don't know, but at least it shows you are employed.
    7. schedule your passport agency appointment the same day with your oath if you want to get your passport first.
    8. if you can, don't move out of the district. it takes a longer for them to move file around and get you back to the normal queque. unless the area you move to has 3-4 months shorter processing time. keeping your old address if you have someone get your mail for you regularly, even though it may means flying back or 6-7 more hours drive. a plane ticket can save you a lot of pain of waiting.

The above are based on my personal experience. Hopefully they can help some people. It is OK if you don't agree.
    Thank you for your time.

At the beginning of your interview, inform the IO that you wish to update/correct the employment history portion of your application.
It is a minor correction, so don't stress out about it too much.

It's not the US Government's job to advise naturalization applicants on the laws of their home countries.

This concern about dual citizenship is everywhere, you may not have considered to look for it.  You may never have considered Thai laws on dual citizenship.

Up to you to consider what information you want to go with.

    Best of luck.

Yes, as a non-Thai citizen, your wife would need to do visa runs like any other US citizen.

Why should US naturalization paperwork have warnings about losing Thai citizenship?  Imagine how long the US naturalization instructions would be if it had to advise on all the current and ever changing laws on dual citizenship around the world.  There are over 180 countries who change their laws all the time.  Imagine updating the N-400 instructions with that.

There are plenty of examples of this on VJ: Thai citizens and their spouses discussing dual citizenship and not naturalizing so they can retain ownership of land in Thailand.  It took me a single Google search to find Thailand's laws on dual citizenship.

The problem is that the average American thinks only about US laws when it comes to US naturalization.  He unknowingly presumes that US laws on naturalization and dual citizenship are the only relevant laws.  He fails to consider the laws of the home country or falsely believes the laws are the same as the US.

The rule against dual citizenship also applies to lots of other countries like Japan.   Whenever someone considers becoming a US citizen, that person needs to consider the citizenship laws of their home country.
