Hi everyone. I can't believe that I am writing this, but it is real. I thought it will never happen. I got an interview notice for I 485 after VAWA approval recently. Hopefully this will end soon and I will go on with my life. I can't find any information, how is interview process for i485 after VAWA approval? What should I bring with me? If I have kids listed in VAWA case, but they are abroad, do I need their original birth certificates? I am lost, overwhelmed and can't wait for interview day coming.
Thanks in advance for responce everyone. I am so glad I found this group, even I am not active poster here.

Guys, CDC now announce Requirements of Covid-19 Vaccine for applicant of Adjustment of Status and among applicants from all countries. Here is the link: https://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/civil-surgeons/covid-19-technical-instructions.html?fbclid=IwAR3Yrfx1DyDKCNwasM0VFlC_sQ1IRRy536X-5DInwXc5DeDV-bVcLAZp3tw
They are waivers available but those waiver must be requested directly to USCIS and approve by USCIS and not the Civil surgeon filling out I-693. (is this is your case)
USCIS has not put any information as for now. but in my understanding it will soon do it and be an updated I-693 too.
    God bless you all!

Wishing everyone here speedy approvals! Don’t worry; this too shall pass!
The best thing you can do while waiting is keeping yourself busy and praying.
You can start school, work, volunteer or anything that keeps your mind engaged in other activities, This way you wont feel the passage of time and before you know it, you will have a decision(hopefully approval) on your case.

You can apply for EAD based on I485 pending (C09)as long as you are not in removal proceedings . I would suggest to double check with your lawyer to see if you have been placed on removal proceedings or no .

    Family,
I was sure this moment would never happen for me but… a notification with “new card is being produced” was sent tonight!! After 1004 days my Vawa was approved without any RFE. Applied on November 19 2018. Exactly 33 months.
    im so happy and relieved.
now waiting for approval notice and a new card. Hope these next steps would be faster than ever!

This is said about many DV/spousal abuse victims and is not really a productive or accurate statement. Many abusers are very manipulative, and we don't know the specifics of what the OP went through (nor should we). OP states they were married in Oct. 2020 and her last visit was Jan. 2021 so all things considered she actually got out of the situation pretty quickly.

VAWA petition CAN be filed from outside of the US provided the abuse happened in the US. The questions to OP regarding her intentions are unethical, IMHO. She asked if she can file VAWA, and the answer is YES.
The burden to prove cohabitation is still on OP though.

It is Wednesday, meaning that it's time for our Semiofficial Half-Weekly VAWA-Thread Mini-Joke:
    -------
    Cop:  You were speeding.
Me:   I was just trying to keep up with traffic.
    Cop:  There isn't any.
Me:   I know!  That's how far behind I am.

I filed in Dec 2020 and got my Prima Facie Determination in the last week of June 2021. So, it took me 6 months and a few days to get it.

For my Combo card, I wrote an expedite request letter, my attorney reviewed the letter and supporting documents;  and emailed them to Vermont, but they ignored it. I mailed the same letter and supporting documents to VSC, they still did not move an inch. They only updated my I-360 with correspondence was received and they are reviewing it. Nothing else!

So I told my lawyer that I wanted to contact my Senator and he said go ahead. I kept my attorney in the picture by forwarding Senator's emails to him as well. My Senator submitted the same expedite request letter dated February (without changing the date or anything - exactly the same things me and my attorney submitted before) and supporting documents to USCIS in July 2021. My Senator came back with a response that USCIS has approved my expedited request. I was surprised. My I-765 & 131 were approved few days after I got my Senator's email, and my Combo Card was sent to my attorney few days after.

Expedite requests have NO negative impacts on any application. It's very fine for them to either approve or deny them. No negative impact.

By the way, USCIS temporarily extended I-693 to 4 years, but how can an applicant know if their I-485 will be decided before Sept 30? Anyone else try to understand this new policy: https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/policy-manual-updates/20210812-I-693ValidityPeriod.pdf

    Good morning.
Yesterday out of the blue my congresswoman sent me an email about my case, saying that my local office issued me a RFE to mail in my medical. So I scheduled it for Monday!!!
for those who sent in medicals, how long did it take for the case to be approved??

It is Wednesday, and therefore time for the Half-Official Half-Weekly VAWA-Thread Mini-Joke:
    =======================================
    CAN'T COME TO WORK TODAY

A guy phoned his boss and said, "Sorry -- I can't come to work today."
The boss asked, "Why not?  Are you sick?"
The guy said, "It's my eyes."
"Why?  What's wrong with your eyes?"
"I just can't see myself coming to work today."
