  1. Friends, I'm back after a while. I already have my GC and I'm moving. As VAWA applicant, how do I update my address with USCIS? Should I send the form to Vermont? Is there anything else I need to do?
  2. I returned to USA with my new GC first time!! Went to home country. Immigration officer asked me how long I was there and what I did (to see family). And then, he noticed my GC category and wondered about it. He asked "out of curiosity, how did you get your green card?" or something like that. I told him it was based on violence against women act. I was thinking.. are they going to start asking me about the abuse? He said okay and said that he didn't see that category very often. I think he was genuinely wanting to know about the category because he hadn't seen it before. this is interesting because I'm thinking they would know from training... anyone have such experience?
  3. Hello, for vawa GC holder to travel out of country. do I need anything other than GC and passport?
  4. Coming back with the timeline!!! October 2019 - submitted I-360, I-485 (and EAD/AP) August 2021 - C31 issued September 2021 - I-360 approved October 2021 - I-693 def notice waiting waiting waiting.... did not get a transfer notice and then this slow moving ride became a rollercoaster... all in July 2022 I-693 RFE from local office I-693 sent sent back I-485 approved (within a few days) GC issued and delivered I had 3 C09 EADs over the years. I remember the first one took about 4 months and the last one took 10-11 months. I don't want to say my local office publicly but you can inbox me or any other questions. Thank you to this community for being supportive and so helpful. I've learned so much here!
  5. Got my GC!! Thank you to this great community for your support along the way... Will write up a timeline soon but quickly wanted to share my good news with the group 😊
  6. Congratulations!!! 🥳 That sounds like a tough interview. Glad your journey is over!!
  7. just got medical exam RFE last week!! my I-485 online status hasn't changed since first fingerprints in 2019. Anyone else went through the whole process without case status changing?
  8. congratulations, so happy for you! can I ask if you had to send inquiry or contact congressperson for the I-485?
  9. Hello, can you please explain how you submitted this inquiry? is it following the out of processing request through the website when you check processing times?
  10. I got both of them in october 2021 but there's been no change in online status since first biometrics in 2019. Does it mean NBC transferred it to local office? I'm afraid my case is stuck somewhere
  11. thank you @sandranj! My vawa was approved 10 months ago. There's no update on I-485 also filed in 2019. I had second biometrics and got 693 deficiency notice. Will reach out to congressperson
  12. thank you! that's what I'm thinking. If I did on my own, will the lawyer ever find out? I don't want to hide it but I don't want to make her mad. She has been great for many years and I have also paid thousands
  13. feeling sad and disappointed today! Lawyer just asked for $150 to submit a case status request what can I do on my own?
  14. I have an interesting question: when I got I-693 def notice, I thought it would be because it expired after 2 years, but... it said 693 wasn't valid because surgeon signed more than 60 days before submission. I don't think that was the case. Back in 2019, I def submitted within 60 days of signing. Has anyone else had this experience And is there a chance new 693 will be waived because of this? https://www.uscis.gov/newsroom/alerts/uscis-temporarily-waiving-60-day-rule-for-civil-surgeon-signatures
  15. sorry that you're going through this. I feel that he's lying to you and making up stories of "immigration" talking to him. He's trying to scare you, which you should also add to your vawa petition, that is how his behavior made you feel (not legal advice but I felt this way too when my ex-husband would threaten to cancel immigration every time we argued). vawa is a long journey but focus on getting yourself to a safe place and then take it one step at a time. hope all goes well for you! also, I want to suggest you remove the screenshots after a while. This is a public forum and if he ends up on this thread, he'll know who you are and all your posts afterwards too others, feel free to comment if you think I'm wrong somewhere
