How do I fix this?

So, I filed the wifes I-485 and I-765 in March. I filled out the extra form so that they could charge my credit card for the fee.

Yesterday, I got a new credit card from my bank because the old one was expiring. Without thinking I activated it, thereby "shutting off" the old credit card. But USCIS still hadn't charged me, so now the credit card information they have is no longer good. I've searched all over the USCIS website for an answer on how to update a credit card but have found nothing. Anyone know what to do with this situation? Will our entire package just get thrown out?

Most likely your packet will be returned and you will have to refile with new card information.

If it makes its way back to you, use a money order next time. This could have all been avoided by money order.

You might be lucky. A different scenario: I requested a new credit card due to fraud on my old number. However for 3 months, companies (utilities for eg) were able to use the old number before letting me know that the credit card was not valid and hence payment had been declined. The charges during these 3 months still went to my statement so I was unaware of this feature until I started receiving automated texts saying my electricity bill was late due to a decline credit card and from there I checked with the credit card company. Just watch your credit card over the next few weeks or so and see what happens. Hopefully it will work and you wont need to re-submit with the higher fees

Usually, when credit cards that are renewed due to the current one expiring, unlike in the case of a stolen card where the number is radically new, you will keep the same number (only the expiration date and security/CCV code will be different).

 

Many credit card companies would honor ongoing subscription payments (cable, Netflix etc...) and some may even honor ad hoc charges made under the previous expired card.

 

Therefore, you might be lucky.
