Mobile biometric / homebound appointment

Hello, I want to ask if you ever requested 'mobile biometric or homebound appointment' for AOS biometric appointment? How do you do that? Did you call USCIS Contact Center or go to uscis.gov/accommodations? I don't know how to fill the uscis.gov/accommodations to ask for mobile biometric or homebound appointment.

 

I got January 24th 2024 as my biometric appointment, I rescheduled it because it was my surgery date.

I had to surgery for my broken leg and I have to use leg cast for 2 months.

Accommodation Examples

• If you are deaf and understand sign language, we may provide a sign language interpreter for a USCIS appointment.
• If you are hard of hearing, we may provide captioning or an assistive listening device for a USCIS outreach event.
• If you are unable to travel for an appointment with USCIS due to a serious medical condition, USCIS may visit you at your home or a medical facility. 
• If you are unable to use your hands, we may allow you to take the writing part of the naturalization test orally.

If you are unable to speak and/or are deaf, that is considered a disability. However, if you are unable to speak English because you do not understand English (but you can vocalize other languages), that is not a disability and we will not provide an interpreter unless you are otherwise eligible.

How to Request an Accommodation

If you need to request a disability accommodation:

• Go to uscis.gov/accommodations to make your request online; or
• Ask the USCIS Contact Center for help in English or Spanish. 

If you need an accommodation for an appointment (fingerprinting, interview, naturalization ceremony, etc.), we encourage you to request your accommodation immediately when you receive your appointment notice.

I would be very surprised if they would do this.  Wearing a cast for a broken leg is not a long-term disability that prohibits you from attending appointments.

@SalishSea I'm not sure.. they said 'If you have open wounds, bandages, or casts when you appear for biometrics submission, USCIS may reschedule your appointment if we determine your injuries may interfere with biometrics submission'

They suppose to say what part of body is using bandage and cast. Is it only on the hand?

I tend to agree, I doubt a leg cast would constitute a home biometrics, as I assume you are still somewhat mobile.

 

Anyway, you can try making an online request.

Only the hand or finger being bandaged or casted that would prevent you from doing the electronic biometrics retrieval.

I'm sure majority of people using wheelchair due to disability would not be approved for this. OP is extremely optimistic. I tend to agree this seems like a waste of time and resources.

 

To OP: please make all the effort to show up in person if you can. Sorry about the leg. Don't risk getting AOS denied / severely denied due to this.

Your leg is not used in gathering biometrics.  There are no toe prints required.  Please do not use resources you don't need.  Some folks out there are really homebound due to disability and need those resources.

Actually in other posts I saw that once you receive your biometrics appointment, a process that takes less than 10 minutes, you just go to the place with the letter and they will do the biometrics and you are on your way.  You do not have to go on the date on the letter.

Op, aren't you weight bearing with assistive devices (walker, crutches etc)?
