I need information on how to get a sponsored job in the US so i can move with my partner (he is a US citizen)

Hi there!

First of all, thank you so much to anyone that takes the time to read this and help. Me (in Spain) and my partner (US) want to move in together and he has all his life in the US so we decided I will be the one moving. For now I will use the ESTA but we want something more permanent without having to go long periods of time without each other.

I have a Coursera certificate in UX/UI design and some studies in Graphic design. I do not know how to go on about this, I just want to find a sponsored job that allows me to stay there and eventually become a citizen.

Anyone has any tips, help or knowledge to share? I know very little about visas but I know they are hard to get.

Any help is welcome!

You cannot use the ESTA to “live” in the US.   Entering in an ESTA with intention to stay and adjust status HS 100% fraud.

You say ‘partner’. - are you married?   By far the easiest legal way for you would be via the fiancé or spouse visas.

I suggest the USC should join VJ and start learning about the process.

it’s not cheap, or fast.

Not the point of this topic, but have you thought of a marriage or fiancé visa?

The point of this post is about a work visa.  First you'll need to find a job in the US that is willing to sponsor you for a work visa.  What formal qualifications do you have besides a coursera certificate (not sure that carries tremendous weight in the job search arena).  So start looking for jobs in the city/region you wish to relocate to, determine if those positions will sponsor you for the work visa, then get the company's lawyers to start the process for a work visa.

Good luck

Hi!

No no, I mean, ESTA is only for visiting so we can see each other and long distance is not as tough on us! I do not intend to use the ESTA as a gateway for another one, merely to visit while we figure out what visa would suit our situation best.

We are not married, just dating. I do not think we will get married anytime soon.

Can I ask what is the USC and VJ?

Thank you so much for all your help!

Hi!

We definitely have not thought about that because we consider it is a bit early for all of that and we want to experience living together before taking this step.

I have a VET on graphic design and specialized in UI/UX Design. I am currently working on building a strong portfolio because I know jobs in the tech area are more likely to have sponsors and such.

USC= US citizen

VJ= Visa Journey (this website).

I do not see a path to an immigrant visa, let alone citizenship, through anything but marriage for you.

I mean, I can get a student or work one right? There has to be other ways than just marriage, they might not be as easy but still

Work visas are limited to certain types of jobs that are hard to fill in the US.   Graphic design is not one of them.

Student visa might work if you have the funds to pay for it, but that is a nonimmigrant visa, and it might be hard to get with a U.S.  boyfriend.   You can always try.

Well, it with be UI/UX Design more than graphic design. So, for a company to sponsor me, it has to be a specific job, or can't it be that the company wants me there and decides to sponsor it?

Again, I am sooo new to all of this so, they are all genuine questions

No, it needs to be a specific job.   By all means, feel free to search online for jobs.

it is very expensive and complicated for companies to sponsor work visas, so in general they only do it for positions they can’t fill with Americans or current green card holders.

H1b is the usual work visa, you need a degree, an employer presumably close to where your BF lives and be lucky enough to come up in the Lottery.

Not realistic.

Student visa could certainly work, assuming you have the money.
