I am a bit confused as the petitioner what do i have to do now myself regarding the next step now that i got my NOA2. I ask because i will be deploying within the next 60 days and i dont want to be waiting for something in the mail and im gone then it expires and all this wait time goes to waste for nothing

I'm new to the process myself as I got my approval 2 weeks ago, but I've been researching forever it seems and I'll tell you what I understand, others can correct me if I'm wrong.

As the petitioner all you'll do is wait until the petition reaches the NVC and then the embassy/consulate. That's when you'll get the ready status, that's when you can schedule interview, start filling DS160, medical, etc. I don't think you'll need to be home for any of that but make sure you or your fiance have all the required paperwork and supporting documents for I134 before you leave.

Best of luck!

Not sure if this is the case with every embassy, but for mine, the embassy emailed me asking my fiancé to do DS-160. After that is done, I would need to email them a copy of the submission confirmation plus passport picture. It is then will they send info to my fiancé for interview, etc.

Technically the DS160 is filed by the person receiving the visa, aka your fiance, but I don't see a problem you filling it on his/her behalf, and I suspect alot of the time that's the case. And if the beneficiary has children a DS160 needs to be filed for each child for K2 visas, as well as a separate visa fee for each.

As mentioned by someone above, embassies are different, I hear some let the petitioner attend and some don't, I also hear some schedule the interview for you as opposed to you scheduling it yourself. But my point is you don't really need to be home for any of this as long as you or your fiance have access to all required documents.

You are the best! Thank you for all that
