in my younger years in the UK, when a serious weather event was predicted by an old lady calling in to the BBC and saying her seaweed was telling her the weather was going to be bad, I only remember hurricanes getting names. Now, it appears that any old tropical storm gets a name. Is this done to give the impression that there are more major weather events, or has it always been the case?

Hurricanes used to get only female names.  Male names now constitute half.  Accordingly, 50% are Hurricanes and 50% are Himmicanes.

I cant believe some of you dont believe in climate change. It changes about 4 times per year here. Much less in the Philippines

 

one question. If it is the hottest its been in 1000 years why was it hot back then. I know I aint the smartest guy in America but little logical questions

It mystifies me how we so often can't accurately predict the weather a day or two out (or even from morning to afternoon), but these climate fruitcakes, such as Rep. Occasional-Cortex and Ms. How DEHHH You, can state with such confidence the future year in which we'll all be barbecued.

So they disrupted Wimbledon.  What I don’t understand is why they did not glue themselves to the grass with an oil based adhesive.
