Hello,

Got a question.

From my understanding, when moving, LPR needs to file AR-11 and US citizen sponsor needs to file I-865 (unless LPR has 40 qualifying quarters of earnings).

From what I know, AR-11 can be filed electronically, but I-865 cannot.

Would it make sense filing both on paper to have proof of sending?

In this case, should I mail them in the same letter or two separate letters would be preferable?

Thank you

You can print off the AR11 if you file it electronically. And if i remember correctly you also get a confirmation filing  number

Agreed, however since I'll need to go to post office anyway, I may send both with certified mail at USPS. Does it make sense combining them into one letter or send in two letters? That's essentially the question. Thank you for your help.

IME online AR-11s get two acknowledgements through email and paper AR-11s are ignored. YMMV.

Every I-865 I sent was acknowledged by mail, and every acknowledgment listed me as the alien being supported, despite the fact I am a U.S. citizen. Well at least I can say I complied with this busy work.

The address for AR-11 differs from the address for I-865.

It does not.

Do AR-11 online to increase the odds that it will have an effect.

I hope the mailing address of your 10 year gc is not changing with this AR-11.

I have always done the AR-11 online for my wife, and I have, of course, mailed the I-865 each time we moved (3 times).  I've always gotten a hard copy conformation for my address change.  We were able to dodge the dreaded "failed address change" issue.

@OldUser where in the immigration journey are you? I ask because if you'll be filing some papers sometimes later, no need of filing address change. Just put new address on new petition.

Just don't move in the middle of a petition. Sometimes those address changes aren't captured 😂 and you end up with mail still going to old address even though USCIS sent you confirmation for new address.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.
