Mashed potatoes vs Fries

This is a false dilemma

 

I like buffets because they have  mashed potatoes, gravy for the mash potatoes, and fries. So now I can get friends with gravy. It’s a Canadian thing.  You wouldn’t understand.

Buttery mashed potatoes with gravy.  Southern style!!!

I no longer eat these but before it would depend on what I was eating them with. 

 

Such as when I was a teen we would go out to get a big thing of fries with gravy. No not Poutine just fries and gravy and of ketchup. 

 

So if it is something like Christmas supper mash potatoes and gravy yup ketchup again. I loved my ketchup. But now I don't eat that either

 

Buggers I would want fries or a Poutine and or course ketchup  

Fish and chips not mash potatoes

Boiled whole with skin on. Drain and gently smash/crush once or twice w fork, add olive oil and dash of salt. Superb

Oh yes indeed. My father used to take us to this one place that had awesome fries. They were the best to soak up all the vinegar. Still can't get used to not seeing the vinegar packets next to the ketchup here.
