Peruvian President announces Dissolution of Congress

Based on what just happened with the Government in Peru, how will that affect Immigration? President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Wednesday morning ordered the temporary closure of Congress and called for parliamentary elections.

At the moment it won't cause any change in how the US handles immigrant Visas.  If service such as being unable to obtain police reports / background checks then it may slow the process.  Events like reconstituting elected bodies happens often . .  .  just look at England and Israel.

So you are saying that this will not affect the embassy personnel as far as handling appointments and day to day activities? I pray you are correct.

As far as I know embassies are handled by DHS, not by each countries government. So no.

Immigration handles cases in several countries now that are going thru political upheavels 

even when the US embassy is closed which is not the case in Peru

 

as said above it may be harder to get police clearances and/or original documents like birth certificates

 

i would work at getting those now as it could take time /Lima , itself ,  has always made it hard to navigate the system with its 43 districts each with its own mayor and council.  i remember i had to change taxis in the city just because taxis can't all go from one district to another   all these restrictions add to the difficulty of the process but it has nothing to do with the US embassy and immigration / that process remains the same
