Getting very discouraged

Hey everyone, just checking in for the first time in awhile.

It's been about 14 months since we filed our K1 and still no NOA2 😞

Really discouraged and starting to feel like I'll never be able to just live with the love of my life... long distance is so hard.

Do you guys think we will get it soon?? It feels like we've been waiting forever.

Also once we get it will the rest of the steps be faster?? I wanna start our lives together 😔

My heart goes out to everyone else in the same spot or who has been through this...

My husband and I waited two years during the pandemic. He couldn’t leave his country and I couldn’t go visit. It was excruciating. One of the best pieces of advice my therapist gave me was realizing this is a small slither of time compared to the rest of your life. Now that he’s here it really does seem like our two years was a small window of time. But I know how you feel. It was very hard. Do you mind filling out your timeline? I believe the veterans in the community can tell you a little bit more depending which country your fiancé is from on the likelihood of when you may get an NOA2…

After the I-129F petition is approved, which should happen soon if you've been waiting 14 months, the wait time for a visa interview is highly dependent on the country where the interview will take place.  From your previous posts, it appears that the K-1 visa interview will be in Montreal, and this consulate is very backed up, with some waiting for a year for an interview after NOA2 and the petition approval.  So the rest of the steps will not be "faster."  Patience is the key, with frequent short visits to see each other either in the US or Canada.  Good luck!

Your time is coming very soon!

If you look at the latest approvals list below, it seems most are getting approved in the 420-430 day range.

We waited 3 years between noa1 and noa2.  It can get very discouraging.  What's important is self love,  enjoy the time you do get together and if you are lucky enough....work like crazy,  lol

That is not typical.  How many RFEs did you have to answer?

3 years between NOA1 and NOA2 for a K-1?  I have never seen that.

As you said it wasn't typical,  case was transferred to vermont,  but after 3 years finally approved.

But not to take away from the OP just try to keep busy, distract yourself.

Yes, the waiting is nothing but agony.  In fact, the entire immigration process is agony.

Vermont.  It's basically "Administrative Processing" for K-1 petitioners.  It lasts as long as it lasts.

We applied in November 2020, got an RFE in May 2021, everything went to the NVC in January 2020. After that things started to move much faster. It took about 8 weeks to get to the embassy (Algeria). Then the additional paperwork and visa interview was June 5 (approved) But it took the embassy another 2 months to return his passport. In our communication with the embassy they continued to confirm he was approved, but that they were short staffed. My fiance finally arrived this weekend! During this time we had to work every day to ensure the process did not consume us and ruin everything we had worked so hard for. We read books together, watched movies together, had virtual date nights... Try and focus on you two and not constantly talking about the case. Too frustrating! Hang in there! It will eventually work out!
