Does this surprise anyone?  I remember all the discussions regarding vape pens and young people, seems very similar.

 

America's $30bn legalized cannabis industry is causing an 'explosion' of teen users: Candy-themed products sold with minimal oversight increase risk of addiction and psychosis among kids, experts warn

 

Data from the 19 states that have permitted recreational pot this past decade, as well as the 38 states that allow medical use, indicates that teens and young adults there are using stronger products more often. 
 

Not every teen who eats a pot gummy sees their life unravel. But they are more prone to addiction and dependency than adults, and greater availability and use means more cases of anxiety, depression, psychosis and even suicide. 
 

In November, voters in Arkansas, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, North and South Dakota, and Oklahoma will decide on whether to liberalize their own cannabis laws — and let windfall pot industry taxes flow into state coffers.

And people that are prone to anxiety and depression are much more likely to be substance abusers. That article is refer madness at its best. Pot use causes suicide.  Hardly. Marijuana actually is a therapeutic for anxiety and depression. 

 

I would much rather have a child that use Marijuana in moderation than one that goes out and gets hammered on the weekend.

The "experts" might disagree about the suicide thingy.  Once thing is for certain, taking experimental drugs is certainly more likely to cause death than marijuana ever will.

Well you can't anymore than you can alcohol. 

I pretty much don't drink. Maybe a few beers every few years.

About the same with weed. Very rarely.

I am currently having lunch and my second beer has just arrived.

 

As someone who went into their first Pub at 16 which was a few months ago the US attitude is certainly amusing. When I came over there seemed to be a lot of people who were abusers or recovering, now I know that is the case elsewhere but the degree seemed different.

 

I am not surprised about the Drugs issue, and the extent sort of makes sense, but how you de invent it I have no idea.
