K-1 Future Visa

So me and my engaged partner plan to get married eventually but just waiting on money. I have just a question about the marriage process . she can use her Foreign I.D? does she need I.D with the k1 visa?

You need a valid passport to have the K1 Visa in.

My apologies, I was asking about the marriage process itself when she arrives and we are applying for the license

I was looking at Vegas, and I couldn't exactly find a definite answer after an hour or so. Was just wondering if anyone could help?

This is very specific to your state and even county laws. I was asked to provide an ID (passport) and they wanted a notarized translation of my BC. Just a town over, they really only needed an ID like a passport. So it really depends.

Alright, Vegas only requires I.D of anywhere in the usa I believe but I'm curious about my partner she's foreign.

I imagine a lot of foreign tourists get married in Vegas. I doubt they ask for much, I assume a passport will suffice.

From the current codified laws of the State of Nevada:

Except as otherwise provided in this section, before issuing a marriage license, the county clerk shall require each applicant to provide proof of the applicant’s name and age. The county clerk may accept as proof of the applicant’s name and age an original or certified copy of any of the following:

      (a) A driver’s license, instruction permit or identification card issued by this State or another state, the District of Columbia or any territory of the United States.

      (b) A passport.

      (c) A birth certificate and:

             (1) Any secondary document that contains the name and a photograph of the applicant; or

             (2) Any document for which identification must be verified as a condition to receipt of the document.

Ê If the birth certificate is written in a language other than English, the county clerk may request that the birth certificate be translated into English and notarized.

      (d) A military identification card or military dependent identification card issued by any branch of the Armed Forces of the United States.

      (e) A Certificate of Citizenship, Certificate of Naturalization, Permanent Resident Card or Temporary Resident Card issued by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services of the Department of Homeland Security.

      (f) Any other document that provides the applicant’s name and age. If the applicant clearly appears over the age of 25 years, no documentation of proof of age is required.

Seems like a foreign passport is all that’s needed.

1. If your fiancé will be entering on a K-1 visa ( at some distant point in the future) …she will have a valid passport and thus a valid id to marry ANYWHERE. 
 

2. There are many immigrants in the US who hold valid foreign passports ( with no visas or expired status ..) or some have just a Matricula Consular …and they too can marry on US soil.

spells out exactly what form of id is acceptable . 
 

I know you are conducting online research, so try just looking at the Marriage License Application as that will spell it out quite clearly and you may find you can marry ANYWHERE.

Hello, I can definitely help. If you need married in Vegas, I'm the one. I have many people from VJ come into Vegas to get married with certificate in hand in under an hour. I have a couple coming in on the 28th of this month to get everything done and taken care of because it is so easy. I don't charge to do it, so you are only out the cost of the license ( Around 110) and certified copies are ( 20.00 ) each. Then of course the cost of getting to Vegas. Not sure where you are located, but I can definitely get you squared away. Only need your ID or passport, same for your Fiancee no matter where they is from, the passport will work. You can pre-fill everything out online up to a year before you arrive, and it is a 10 min process to get your license. Send me a message, and I will pass on my contact information for you, and I will help you out.

I read here once (have no idea if it's actually true) that in Idaho if you're eligible for an SSN then you need one there, which can be a problem for K-1 holders sometimes (although they're eligible for one, actually getting one can sometimes be difficult for some people).

But that's the only state I've heard of like that.
