N400 May 2022 Filers

Hey folks! It’s been a while.

For my I-751 ROC, my USCIS account says they could not obtain a status. Earliest inquiry date is September 2023 based on receipt date of May 2021, this is a month after the expiration of my 24 month extension from the initial green card.

My N-400 filed based on 3 year rule says its delayed and has no updates since filing date in May 2022.

Both are in “normal processing times”, should I go ahead and do an inquiry/message via the USCIS account at this point?

Sorry it’s taking so long.
what’s your service center for ROC.

mine just got approved a few days ago, I applied July 2021. LIN (Nebraska) service center is super slow. I tried doing a inquiry but the system wouldn’t let it, I kept getting a message that case was under normal processing time 😒

If system allows you, go for it.

for N400, my online status had an estimated countdown to decision on case which after it passed the last day gave a “things are taking longer than normal message”. I made an inquiry a couple weeks later to which I received a generic/automated response  “ case is being reviewed and if I didn’t hear back in 90days, to make another inquiry”

hang in there and good luck

Thank you! My receipt starts with YSC so I think that’s Potomac?

I don’t even know how to do an inquiry…

Hello, I do not know my field office. How do I find this out?

I am located in Charlotte.

Enter the zip code in this page and it will tell you what your field office is. Given you are based out of Charlotte, it's most likely the Charlotte office

So for my N-400, this would be the field office but for my I-751, it would be Potomac service center.

I have a notice saying my case was transferred to the National Benefits Center a while back (September 2022).

For N-400, 80% case processing times are 15 months. My receipt date is May 23, 2022. By that logic, I can contact them about my case 15 months after the receipt date (August 24, 2023), right? Well, when I enter this in their case processing tool and earliest inquiry date, they give me a date of May 24, 2024.

We too are in CLT and are 30 days behind you in applying for both I751 and N400.  When I log into USCIS it shows 21 days for our approximate time for a decision on my N400.  Yours must be less than that?

Oh boy, you ready for this?

Here's what it says for me (applying on 3 year rule by the way):

Estimated time* until case decision:

Things are taking longer than expected. You do not have to do anything at this time.

That's awful.  If you pull up the sheet with all the other CLT peeps you are past due.  I think we are probably mostly the 3 year rule.

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

Hey JP, can you share on how I can pull up the sheet with the other CLT people? I find navigating this site slightly tedious (by no means ungrateful but just felt a bit weird when I added my timeline.)

I don't have editing capabilities after a certain time but wanted to share this in case anyone is not aware. Those with pending I-751's and new filings will now receive a 48 month extension.
