Is everyone in this forum done with their I-751? I'm at 34 months of waiting for I-751 and 20 months of N-400. Only option for me now seems like a Writ of Mandamus lawsuit against USCIS.

I've tried everything.

Went to infopass in December for I-551 stamp and asked the agent why it was taking so long for my N-400. She tried to schedule me for an interview but wasn't able to and told me to wait for my turn and that I should be getting an interview soon. It's been more than 4 months since that.

Submitted outside of regular processing time for my N-400, request was forwarded to Dallas field office. The reply from the field office was the same, wait for your interview

Contacted US representative. USCIS replied to wait additional 90 business days. At that time my N-400 would be 4 months outside processing time.

Contacted ombudsman - no reply.

I really wish there was a way to at least get an answer as to why my case is taking so much longer than anyone else.

We received a call from USCIS 2 days prior to the N-400 interview. The officer told us they would conduct a combo I-751/N-400 interview. They confirmed the date and emailed us a letter with documentation to bring with us. Basically the letter said to bring everything. So the call was out of the blue, but appreciated.

That's awesome, they have probably gotten tired of having people show up not understanding that a combo interview is very possible and therefore didn't bring the correct documents, their spouse etc. So this is very positive.

Did you file the FOIA (Freedom of information act)? A lot of people have had really good luck with that. Many people who filed their N-400 in the spring of 2020 had their files sent to an off-site storage/records center, and they have been stuck there since. Once they realized filing a FOIA helped, a ton of people started doing the same and the majority seems to have gotten their interview dates shortly there after. The FOIA request is just a request you send to USCIS to receive your "immigration history" that USCIS has on you, but it seems like that request brings up your case to the surface and you're more likely to not be stuck anymore.

There's a whole Facebook group about it as well: https://www.facebook.com/groups/517983782770173/

I applied for I-751 on June 2019 and N-400 on October 2020.

I interviewed for N400 on April 2021 and I751 interview was on July 2021 ( with my wife).  I tried all these steps that you mentioned except the FOIA. My attorney said, current processing time for I-751 for ALL FIELD OFFICES is 22 to 36 months (on the USCIS website). We need to wait until 36 months to end up then we would start to take action to the USCIS (sue). So, I am only 2 months to complete maximum processing time (36 months from first application of I-751) for ALL FIELD OFFICES.

Good luck to us

I'm in the same boat too. Filed I-751 in July of 2019 and N-400 in July of 2020. Still waiting for interview for both cases at Dallas field office too.

Would this work for people that have been waiting for ROC waiting for 3-4 years also?  I mean people that filed ROC but didn't do N-400 yet?

Well my friends...This visa journey is finally over and my wife is now a US Citizen!!!

Her I-751/N-400 combo interview and cases were approved the same day and my wife was able to do the Oath Ceremony and receive her Certificate of Naturalization the same day as well.

WOW! It's such a relief to have everything finished. It’s been a long, stressful, and painful process, but happy to finally have this all behind us.

Thank you for all the support and advice you all have given along the way and I'm happy to have contributed as well.

Good luck to all those still waiting and most of all hang in there! I’ll be praying for you all. Again, good luck and I’ll be awaiting your good news soon!!!

Did you try filing a FOIA with USCIS? Whether or not it helped us, I don't know. However, shortly after we filled a FOIA for both the I-751 and N-400 we received an interview date for the N-400 1 month later. We then scheduled an Infopass appointment to receive an ADIT stamp and I asked the Officer if he could transfer our I-751 case so we could do a combo interview. He said he would put a note in the system so the they would conduct a combo interview. Then 2 days prior to our N-400 interview we received a call from USCIS saying they would be conducting a combo interview and emailed a letter with documents to bring.

I filed a FOIA for both (on the same request) and coincidence or not, we received a N-400 interview date a month later.
