221G after Visitor Visa Interview Pakistan

Hi,

I have applied for Visitor's visa from Islamabad Pakistan. My interview was on February 11th. 

After asking 5-6 questions, the visa officer gave me a white slip that says that my case was refused under section 221g and further administrative processing is required. Officer told me that I will be getting an email where they will ask me some more information.

After a few hours of interview, I received an email from consulate that has 10 questions including (Names and date of birth of all my siblings, names and date of births of all my children, my previous passport numbers, places where I have lived in past etc..) 

I have replied to their email on same day, But I have not received any correspondence from them yet. It has been more than 3 weeks, my case status on CEAC website shows refused.

Please help if anyone else has gone through same process? How long will it take to verify the information that I provided them ?

Some people have gone through several months while some several years after providing such info. They are gonna look into backgrounds of all persons and passports you listed and it won't be fast.

Extreme vetting and prolonged administrative processing is very common for Pakistan.  There are many threads about it here on VJ.

 

It is impossible to predict the timeline for AP.  Can last months or even years.

Do you already had the visa or you applied for the first time, please confirm?

Nothing has changed since the interview. 
It still shows Refused and last update is Feb 11th.

When was your interview held? Did your case update after interview?

Nothing has changed in this regard.

Considering present practice, rigorous vetting is now a typical procedure for the majority of us.

Anyway, I'm hoping for a quick update.

Was this your first time or did you already have the visa?

This was 1st time interview for US visitor visa

I applied for the second time, with family, in a little different scenario. Please review my thread/profile for complete information.

From another perspective, this is a positive indicator, the VO assumes that the applicant is eligible for the visa after due scrutiny, thus he issued this document, whereas he may just deny, 
they have their own opinion.

Anyway, I've seen most instances be cleared in less than 60 days, two cases get cleared in more than 80 days, and so on.

I've also seen some of them waited more than six months
While re submitting the passports, and 

one should be optimistic; there is only one thing we can do now is wait.

In your scenario Did they return the passport or kept it?

Yes, they did return the passport. VO said that they will ask me to send the passport once the administrative processing is completed.

I am still under AP. It has been 15 months & the case status never changed after the day of interview

You have to tag them for them to get a notification.

 

They got their visa in November of last year if you look at the profile.
